As far as getting the visit from the Old Man and credit for FS branches...
How would I know what group I'm in?
I don't know how many profession I had remaining. Is there a way to know this?
I did 19 professions and 4 were holos
I am glowy (according to /che)

Guess its time to pay the rent on my houses and play something else while the village is bogged down by grinders... (I've been only playing to pay for rent the last few months so no biggie)... good thing this is in though because now they can work on the stuff that matters to non-grinding normal players

Well I can say they way SOE is handling this is very bad. I have been grinding profs to unlock. Now i found out that i dont get a visit from the old man for sometime. This is bull**edit**, I have been playing for a year. I pay my monthly fee just like the rest. Ground out 20 profs, stopped grinding because I wouldnt have unlocked in time of pub10. Well I can now say Im glad I didnt pay for my monthly fee yet. If it was about to many ppl being on dath. Well then you should have had a camp on every planet. You guys can flame me all you want. The reason most of the ppl that got this game was to play jedi. Just because someone macroed there way to unlocking does not mean that the rest of us should not be able to do this quest. I can say SOE. i will no longer support your game. I will not buy jtl. You have done nothing but screw ppl over and over. Can you say Im done with this broken game.

Yes, I make a female human to grind with, that's better to look at than a spikey top or carpet rug or what not, but I want to roleplay a different gener/race combo with a jedi.

So the devs want to limit the traffic on Dathomir at the village eh? I've played since beta and have no interest in playing a jedi, but I do want that second slot. The last new content (that we all pay for) that is applicable to me is the Death Watch bunker. It's been 3 months since then, maybe longer and $45. I'm tired of paying for content I cannot access just because i didn't hologrind. I have 80 badges and feel an inner glow now I have to wait who knows how long to even get a visit?
Well, while they may be able to keep us out of the village for the time being, the can't keep us from staging a sit in around it. I'm posting this on every server's message board and urge anyone unhappy with the situation to head to 5300, -4000 Dantooine. Lets bring the servers to their knees.

woah woah woah!....
when i first read TH's post i wasnt too upset, this is the way I understood it -
the first 2 groups who automatically qualify or w/e get their visit by the old manand go do their first phase quest, then when most have done that, and the traffics died down the next group(s) get their visit from the old man and do their first phase, and so forth till all groups are done, each group cycle taking a day or 2 cause1 quest doesnt take weeks apon weeks that im aware of.(i tested on tc).. then when the next phase has come, repeat this process, but the first 2 groups wont need to have their go at the village cause they already had their unlocked branches.... etc....
but now ive read on im getting the impression that it goes like this -
the first 2 groups go, and do all the phases they need, then traffic dies down and next group goes, does all the phases they need... etc.... so in fact each group takes weeks/months andin the end the 3-5th group to go wont be going till well into next year or so...
(PLZZZZZZ SAY THIS IS WRONG!!!)
but im utterly confused and would greatly appriciate clarification by the devs!!!!

[Misconception... "ITS AN ENTERTAINMENT SERVICE", not a game. If I beat ye up into a livin' pulp in the game and ye get mad, Then I get to tell ye, "Its onlya game." But if ye don't mind spendin' money on a product that doesn't fully work and consider that as a game; then do I have a deal for ye! I got this nice V-8 sports car for a hefty price, since its a premium car. The only bad part be that 5 of the 8 cyclinders fire. But don't worry, I'll get those other 3 workin' in sometime. Ye have to understand, engine work be complex and takes time. Oh and don't worry 'bout readin' the warrenty, I got yer back.]

[Uncarin'... Some of these people would like to see SWG become successful and have submitted constructive feedback only to recieve silence in return. The devs are doing what's in the best interest of the population.
[Yes and no. Yes, they want to make thin's good fer the customers, but they have to obey the rules of the management. I personally lay blame with the SOE/LA management myself and not the worker bees. This be a business and has business rules, such as Carrots and Sticks. Do ye care to see an essay 'bout such thin's and of Deconstruction?]
It's a shame when i log in to the forums and see GROWN ADULTS acting worse than my 9 year old.

No one has to hold your hand and guide you through the game. Accept what's happend and move on, or shut up and quit.

The game is a good game. Regardless of the little quirks, it's still fun. Otherwise you all wouldnt still be here.

Thank you for the work you and the other devs have put into the game. I for one am looking forward to the quests in their entirety and i do believe the gating is a really good idea.
[No counter-point here. The Dev Team, Worker Bees, and Messangers are not to blame, but the corporate management.]
[Further Note: No matter which plan SOE/LA come up with, they were goin' to loose. The plan of allowin' "Hologrindin'" will allow fer no easy out to satisfy everyone. The Lessons Learned was that Hologrindin' should have never been implemented. A lack of forward thinkin' of the rewards or penalties were appearently not thought 'bout. The decision to implement Hologrindin' has come back to bite the decision makers in the arse once again.
And yes, there were people who made great posts of how people should aquire Jedi/Sith status, but those posts were simply discarded as the Player Base was not considered a valuable asset.]

i totally agree with those non-hologrinders (my-self) who have been playing this game for a year now. The whole reason ive been playing this game is because i love swg and i love rpgs. i remmember reciving the first system message when the first jedi was born. when we al figured out wut it was we had to do to become a jedi. this is when the holo-grinders were born. i love to play the game. not to sit through hours and hours of mindless grrinding in a solo group on dant, thats not any fun. my first holo just so hapened to be creature handler. first of all i pay to play this game to have fun. and be professions i want to be. but just becuase i was a pvp char and not a freakin lion tamer this means i have to wait i possibly months to get a visit from the old man because some punk kid out there has no life and plays all day long to grind. i dont think so. this is not fair to me. and im sure thousands out there who felt the same way as i do. im glowing with the force and have been waiting some 4-=5 months to do so and now some kid who just had there mommy pic up the game for them and grind grind grind gets to cut all the way to the frount of the line. thats not cool. i really hope you devs read this and thinkin about wut you are truily doing cause ive lost 2 friends so far to all the non-sence

It sounds to me as though the verteran players have been overlooked. Is this true, I believe we should be allowed the old man with the first wave. I believe we should be granted something for still being here (whether we holo grinded or not). I for one have only finished 17 prof and enjoyed most of them. I was not worried about holo grinding. I do think we should be allowed something for everything we have done, not just the 3 month old accounts that have grinded 32 prof. I ask you, who has paid more? Who has stuck with this game through thick and thin? Are we so small to you that we are not important enough to be involved in something as simple as getting a first crack at the village? I just ask of you this small favor, because I for one think wedeserve this much.

TH, I did NOT grind holo professions. Not one. I chose to PLAY the game instead. Today I'm "Glowing with the Force". Does that mean that I have to wait a few weeks for grinders to pass through the village before I'll be allowed access? Or will I get a visit from the old man "in 1-3 days"?
