I all have to say is that I will wait. BUT it definitely looks like I am going to become a BH. I think it will be nice to weed out some of the Jedis for awhile. Anyone interested in forming a BH Guild on Kauri?

It is very disappointing to read all the negative feedback in this thread. All the I am gonna quit because you didn't hand me my Jedi or my second slot or you are making me wait to get my chance to visit this new place due to server lag.

Let me give you a non computer example to "maybe" help all the people who do not understand the need to "gate" people through. Lets say it is Christmas time and you have 5 extra people coming to stay with you for a week. What would you do with the bathroom time? Would it be better to organize everyone and tell them they have a schedule to use the bathroom or would it be better to build 5 new bathrooms? Sure organizing it may make a couple of people upset because they have to wait to use the bathroom. But if you build 5 new bathrooms what will you use them for after they all leave in a weeks time. So in regards to them "gating" us or having us wait a little to visit this new village and keeping our subscription rates the same I am all for it. Although I am sure there are some out there who would rather have them double everything on their servers and also double the subscription at the same time. After this initial influx of people visiting the village it will tone down and become just another place to go to.Much like the mining outpost on Dantooine was used by the hologrinders.

As for everybody whining about playing the game with the same prof to "make the game better" and not participating in the hologrind but expecting to get full credit as they did not "ruin" the game just stop and listne to yourselves. "I played the same prof and had lots of fun for the last year. I am a veteran and I deserve to get my second slot or Jedi just handed over." Guess what If you had fun playing your toon for the past year on the same prof without problems then what has changed? I do not understand why you are all of a sudden mad an quiting because something you were not interested in wasn't handed to you. If you wanted that second slot so bad or your jedi then you would have been a hologrinder as well.

I also think that some people are getting confused with the /checkforcestatus results. I hear a lot of complaining here about I completed this and I completed that in the old system and now when I check myself I am only faint or do not feel the force. The problem guys is that this is a new system with new rules. Any accomplishments in the old system have been rewarded and you are trying to measure what you have done with a whole new set of rules. So if you mastered 25 profs in the old system but did not do any badges (the speculated measurement of the new system) then of course you will not have as strong a feeling in the force as someone who has completed all the badges and say 5 prof badges. Where in the old system it would be the complete opposite and the prof grinding guy would be closer.

From what I understand about the second slot as well is that you do not get it until you complete the exit quest and become and actual jedi. This makes sense as you had to be a jedi in the old system to get the second char slot. This means that just becoming force sensitive and visiting the vilage does not get you your second slot. You do not get it until you go through the phases of the quests and complete the new FSXP grind.

I know that this will probably be flamed as it does not agree with everyone's I want my stuff now mentality but maybe it will help some people to understand a little about some of the things here. If I am wrong about any of this as it is all my own interpretation as is most of the rest of the stuff in all the forum threads I will gladly step aside and let someone who knows better shut me up. I don't post a lot as you can see from my post count but I have been around awhile (was a beta tester) and it is depressing to see all the hard work that goes into making this game as robust as it is go unappreciated.

I just want to tell the devs they have done a great job and I love all the smaller fixes to the game in this publish and don't want them to be overshadowed by all this force sensitive nonsense.

The only mistake the devs made was to release holocrons. Without those we would all be jumping for joy right now as there is a path to jedi instead of it being completely a mystery.

OK.....

This is all alotta info to take in after a night of hard drinking so lemme see if i understand this....

I've completed 31 profs so far since opening day, right?. This means that i will receive an immediate (within 72hrs) visit from the old man, right?.....Ok WHERE will he visit u? anywhere in galaxy as long as u are not in a city (player included) ? What if i currently have no combat profs in my template....will this be a problem cause i read something about fighting siths after talking to old man. Does it make a diff if u camp the area around the town? MAYBE ITHIRIS can help.......

BTW everybody should read Jaidia-chilastra's post....BRILLIANT

ALL PAYING CUSTOMERS HAVEA RIGHT TO **edit** ABOUT THE SERVICE THEY R RECEIVING WETHER IT BE WARRANTED OR NOT......ITS THERE RIGHT.

I LOVE THIS GAME BUT SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE IM BEING TAKEN FOR A SHMUCK...I KNEW THEY RAISED PROF REQUIREMENTS AND I UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE ARE FRUSTRATED.

im sure im forgettin some stuff but my head hurts.....

So today i did a checkforce and it said im glowing.. so now i was expecting a old man to visit me but he didnt came. After reading this posting here and the fridays feature about the village i wondering when i will be able to continue...

Since i wasnt profession grinding and just mastered a few professions (those that id like to play actualy) i'd expect me to be in group 4.. so now looking at the following passages from the fridays feature:

"The player may only accept and complete one quest per village phase."

and

"There are four phases each lasting for several weeks."

So those that mastered all and those that mastered all but one will surely be able to finish within the first village phase as much as i understand the system, Group 1 will probably need 2 phases already, group2 will need 3, group3 will need 4 phases atleast.. is that correct?

So my Questions to the devs are the following:

1) Did i understand right that it will take _atleast_ 11 phases before group-4 will probably be able to visit the village?

2) Regarding the fridays feature each phase lasts for some weeks, so i can estimate to start with my village stuff when? half a year? next year?

3) Does grinding professions after the publish now will still help me to improve my position in the queue?

4) Is a command planed to be able to see in what group you are? (i.e. upgrade /checkforce ?)

Well after reading all those negative postings here i aint really expecting an answer to my questions anymore, however i have to add that if i really have to wait now for months to be able to continue at all and cant do anything in that time to progress id be really disappointed.

TH,

I am really lost here. I have mastered 8 profession's in the old system. I did hit my silent Holo. (after mastering TKA)Do I get a visit from the Old Man? If so, When? I also do not understand your group 1-4 thing. I dont even know where I fit in that to begin with. I faintly feel the force. I thought I would at least able get into the village. I guess I am just a little upset on how little info is provided to us from you and the Dev's I would at least like to know where I am in the system and what I need to do next. Can you clear this up?

I tried to resist, couldn't do it...

I'm so glad I decided to RP my character in his chosen profession(s) for the past year+ in this MMO-R-P-G instead of just grinding out professions. Otherwise I wouldn't get to be further punished by the Devs.

Yes, I consider being thrown into a "group" of other players who have to wait an unspecified time for "traffic" to ease up so I can participate in the newest content added to the game a punishment for actually playing the game instead of hologrinding.

I have played since day 1, gotten many badges, done many themeparks, many quests, and in general, played my character. Now, since I have only 7 professions under my belt (mostly for interest, but does include 1 holo profession), I will have to sit around and wait along with many other people who played the game rather than just grinding professions.

Give the grinders their unlocks, that's fine. But it's just wrong to gate people from entering the village they have every right to enter (assuming they qualify, which we assume is badges, as tested on TC) just because they played their character instead of grinding.

If gating was necessary because of server stability, it should have been character age, not number of professions, that got a character in first. Those who have been around the longest, playing this game (and yes, that does include many hologrinders) should get first access, not some 2-3 month old character who just ground out professions as fast as he could.

It's not going to change, and there's no real reason for this post other than to express my opinion, but that's what the forum is for, so despite the futility of the gesture, that's my opinion.

so.... if we qualify under the new system we can expect a visit within 1-3 days?

I think answering this question will put alot of players minds at ease

Thanks

I've been reading these post for some time now, and have gleaned a lot about the way this patch is turning out. I myself have been looking forward to it since Patch 9; and while i can say with confidence that I AM NOT irate about the way things are panning out currently, I AM confused as to the time frames:

I hear 3 days

I hear 3 weeks

I hear 3 months

...

some one even screamed about a year (?)

Any one now will be able to "Feel an inner glow" but what does that mean in terms of starting the quests?

Will people who have been playing since before patch 10 be contacted early?

Obviously, those who have NOT been contacted by the Old Man will have to wait, but for How Long?

Is there a way that people can be informed as to what "group" they belong to?

Does anyone have answers so these questions? (And I mean DEFINITIVE answers, not speculative guesses.)

Here's an old sayin' ye should take to heart:

"There are many paths of truth,

If ye choose one and follow it blindly,

Then it becomes a falsehood and ye a fanatic."

Your absolutely right, and I play this game with blasters. I have for the last 13 months. What others do with their "GAME CHARACTER" in no way influences my gameplay or my feeling of being in the SW universe. The actions of others and their perception of this game have no bearing on my "GAMING" experience. Each time I log on to SWG, I am re-living those backyard blaster/lightsaber battles of my childhood. This has nothing to do with "truth", "falsehoods" or "fanaticism." It has everything to do with looking at the acorn and seeing a thriving civilization (just in case"anyone" missed it, that was a reference to the ability to think divergently in regards to this GAME).

Being in education, I know a few myself:

"Just because you close your eyes, the world does not disappear."

"Who's more the fool, the fool himself, or the fool that follows him."

"Don't argue with an idiot. People may not be able to tell the difference."

I entertain each person's opiniononly once. Have a blessed day.

I think those of you who are doing NOTHING but whining and complaining and threatening to quit, should just quit. Maybe i'll get my visit faster.

[Now that's a flame... so I will respond in kind and as such the meanin' of yer post has lower respect. Perhaps ye should try debatin'; simply put, try makin' an arguement without puttin' people down. Ye'll gain more respect that way, Laserbrain.]

You know good and well that if they didnt do the gating, you'd all be screaming like 2 year olds because the server crashed.

[Sterotypin'... how disrepectful and inconsiderate. Perhaps ye should 'plain why rather than passin' judgement onto everyone.]

Or if they hadnt done something else then you'd be whining about that.

[Assumption... Indication of a lack of facts and gettin' emotional. Tsk Tsk]

All i ever see is a bunch of bickering.

[Invalid statement... And I see the same from ye. What's yer point? Next time set the example.]

Just because i dont have many posts, doesnt mean im not a veteran to the game.

[Note... Noted and I will discredit ye down below.]

I have been playing this game off and on since the release.

[Admission... I guess ye've been disappointed as well at times or grown bored. Why was that? Please 'plain?]

I have yet to whine and complain about it. I take the game as it goes. Why? BECAUSE IT'S A FLIPPIN GAME!

[Misconception... "ITS AN ENTERTAINMENT SERVICE", not a game. If I beat ye up into a livin' pulp in the game and ye get mad, Then I get to tell ye, "Its onlya game." But if ye don't mind spendin' money on a product that doesn't fully work and consider that as a game; then do I have a deal for ye! I got this nice V-8 sports car for a hefty price, since its a premium car. The only bad part be that 5 of the 8 cyclinders fire. But don't worry, I'll get those other 3 workin' in sometime. Ye have to understand, engine work be complex and takes time. Oh and don't worry 'bout readin' the warrenty, I got yer back.]

If you guys are so miserable all the time, then shut up and find something else to play.

[Uncarin'... Some of these people would like to see SWG become successful and have submitted constructive feedback only to recieve silence in return. The silent treatment of SOE has caused people to become frustrated and their fuses short. And yes people have been leavin', there are less people now than back durin' launch.]

I never see anyone thank the devs for the hard work they put into this game.

[Ye claim to be a Veteran, but ye never seen a post thankin' the Dev's? Appearently ye haven't read anythin' on this thread andI doubt ye will read this.]

I'd like to see every one of you make a game and make it perfect.

[So every game should be buggy. Perhaps ye should look in WISH fer starters, its an UMMORPG. Oh wait, that requires too much effort to research into other online RPG's.

And haven't ye READ ANY OF THE EXCELLENT POSTS PEOPLE HAVE POSTED TO IMPROVE THE GAME? Oh of course not, ye haven't seen and threas thankin' the Dev's.]

I've been playing mmorpg's since 97 or 98.

[And that's suppose to make ye an expert or provide some creditability?]

The devs are doing what's in the best interest of the population.

[Yes and no. Yes, they want to make thin's good fer the customers, but they have to obey the rules of the management. I personally lay blame with the SOE/LA management myself and not the worker bees. This be a business and has business rules, such as Carrots and Sticks. Do ye care to see an essay 'bout such thin's and of Deconstruction?]

It's a shame when i log in to the forums and see GROWN ADULTS acting worse than my 9 year old.

[And its a shame to see ye do the same.]

No one has to hold your hand and guide you through the game. Accept what's happend and move on, or shut up and quit.

[So,anyone who complains they should quit? Well if that's the case, since ye complained, I like to see ye quit. Oh wait that's a double standard, but its acceptable to ye only. "Do what I say, not what I do."]

The game is a good game. Regardless of the little quirks, it's still fun. Otherwise you all wouldnt still be here.

[Each to their own opinion. Considerin' ye don't like the opinions of those who are oppose to yers and find 'em invalid, 'pect the same fer yers. Appearently yer an easy goin' person that doesn't raise a fuss if somethin' doesn't go right. So, are ye still interested in that sports car?]

Thunderheart,

Thank you for the work you and the other devs have put into the game. I for one am looking forward to the quests in their entirety and i do believe the gating is a really good idea.

[No counter-point here. The Dev Team, Worker Bees, and Messangers are not to blame, but the corporate management.]

[Further Note: No matter which plan SOE/LA come up with, they were goin' to loose. The plan of allowin' "Hologrindin'" will allow fer no easy out to satisfy everyone. The Lessons Learned was that Hologrindin' should have never been implemented. A lack of forward thinkin' of the rewards or penalties were appearently not thought 'bout. The decision to implement Hologrindin' has come back to bite the decision makers in the arse once again.

And yes, there were people who made great posts of how people should aquire Jedi/Sith status, but those posts were simply discarded as the Player Base was not considered a valuable asset.]

Most of this thread is more upset with the way this was handled, however not wanting to wait that wonderful 72 hours is ligit because we've waited so long AND put up with an idiotic grinding system in the mean time.

So now you can stop reminding everyone that if they just wait they will get their turn. The point is, it was handled wrong, it's stupid to have to wait (since that's what everyone has been doing) and it is abundently clear that many who are posting here are not your typical whiners. I generally do not get in here and rant, I'd rather play the game, but obviously the minority that usually does complain has been listened to more than any other group. The boards were full of a majority that expressed the disgust at the grind system when it was apparent that it was "the path" but the minority prevailed, like much of what gets implemented here.

So cut these posters a break. Everyone here that played professions they enjoy but still desired a chance to play force sensitive characters deserves to rant a whole lot more than a grinder deserves to start the new system that should have been in place from the start.
