Please read that sentence again, and this time get all the words in it.
You must ACTIVELY CHOOSE to PARTICIPATE in the PvP system. Why did you leave that out?
Yo DO actively choose to participate in the PvP system - the moment you tell the Recruiter "I want to join".
They even ask you "are you sure?" and warn you of the implications. No, they are not going to say "This means other players may gank you in PvP", they put it in game terms.

Actively = you have to do something for something to happen.
Earning 200 faction points and talking to a Recruiter to join.
Choose = Choice, you make a desicion
"I want to join." "Are you sure?" "Yes."
Participate = You are engaging in a situation, social or non-social, that has cause and effect.
Cause: You are a member of the opposing faction.
Effect: When you do something that reveals that, you become eligible for attack.
The "something" in question has never been implied to be totally under your control.consent and it needn't anyhow. You already made the decision by joining the faction.

But turning someone Overt is not Limited PvP by definition of someone playing as Covert. It takes up an hour plus travel time to find a recruiter to reverse it.
I don't know how long you've been playing, but back in the day, TEFs took an hour to go away anyhow.
And I just don't see any reason you can justify otherwise.
Your cover has been blown - you don't go back undercover simply by walking away. You need to find someone who can get you new ID papers, etc. Those people are the Recruiters.
If it makes any difference to you, I'm OK with Imperials being subject to the same conditions when they are saluted (and mentioned as much earlier). But I won't have to worry about being "made" Overt because I think I'll be travelling Overt a lot more anyhow. That way I'll be ready to do something about all the Rebels who get outed for breaking the law. ![]()
When you go Overt/Covert, what is the text you get on your screen?
When you go Overt, the recruiter warns you about your person being attacked by other players of an opposing faction.
When you go Covert the recruiter tells you about hiding your faction affiliation from others. After an hour, you get the message, you faction affilitation has been hidden from others. That means, no one knows.
Now, we get scanning droids in the wilderness who will come by and scan you if you don't notice them and make you Overt, then drop 8-10 Stormtroopers on you? Ummm, no thanks, how about a TEF instead. That way, I am now engaged in limited PvP because in 5 minutes I can lose the TEF after I have run from the troopers or killed them all. Limited is not taking up an hour of my time plus travel time to go find a recruiter to go back to Covert status. This will force me to PvP till that happens. There is your forced PvP which TH said will never happen.
/sigh
Why do you impose your definitions and not the manuals. This is the last time. The GCW != PvP, PvP happens within the context of the GCW, it is not one in the same. Therefore, I must Actively participate in the PvP system becasue the GCW is not the PvP system.
imperial proponemt huh, well i'm not, i'm a proponent for logic, the fact that they want to have their cake and eat it to, the point was that they chose to use their sliced armor so they can be good in whatever they do, and by making that choice they therefor open themselves up to PvP, that is the choice, adn frankly ur entire astatement makes no sense (that could be because i'm drunk, i promise i'll read this over in the morning so therefor lemme apologize for any misunderstand, my comphrehension levels are a bit under par at the moment) but anyhow, still, all i ca do is reiterate my points, no one is forced into anything, they chose when they decide to use the contraband, no contraband is forced upon anyone, and i am currently a neutral player, so dont gimme any of that your a imp and you like it things, thats not the case, if i had my way i would love to get a TEF for having contraband, btu whatever...

Thank you! Yet another Imperial proponent of this change puts foot in mouth and supports that implementing it will hurt PvPers.

Well, you are missing the point, and perhaps you shouldn't post to the forums when you're drunk.
The point is, that you admit that people "want to have ur sliced armor so you can be good against npcs"; that is, you admit that you know this change will hurt PvEers.
Indeed, I argue that it will hurt PvEers MUCH more than it will affect PvPers, as PvPers should be going around overt to begin with. As many have said, the Devs have promised that GCW!=PvP, but with this change, the Devs are changing that rule. Doing so will have a negative affect on the GCW (not to mention the game), and the Devs will ultimately have to remove this forced PvP (assuming it even goes live in the first place, which I believe is getting more and more less likely to happen thanks to rebels successfully arguing against it, and Imperial players like yourself showing that this will be used to grief PvEers) but at the expense of much hurt feelings and likely lost players.
If Imperials received the same treatment "forced (lol) pvp" would there still be whining?
Anyone check to see if you will be caught with spice if you store it in a droid?

A better question is: if imperials, rather than rebels, were forced overt, would the imperials not "whine" that it's wrong to force overt onto a covert?
Thought so.
But to answer your question, if both rebel and imperial were forced overt, there would be less "whining", I'm sure, as it would be perceived to be more fair; but it would still be wrong for the following reasons:
1) No one should be forced into overt status (for reasons already mentioned in this thread); and
2) Imperial npc's will be doing the crack/shakedown, so obviously Imperial coverts would have less to fear from becoming overt when there would be NPCs to help out if jumped.
I think a TEF would be the better solution since the entire idea will end up getting nerfed to all hell before its over with.
I thought I would never say it, but this is really starting to look like EQ in space. A pve'ers paradise!
