Thread: The Path of the Jedi: Reckoning of Effort

I'm going to start off by saying, I'm not here to whine, threaten to quit, or mention how much I pay for the game a month. I'm here because I, like a lot of you, I am confused. We want our questions answered, and unfortuanlty we're not getting that. I'm also not here to say holo grinders should not be rewarded in some way, of course they should, they played the game in a way they found enjoyable - grinding profession after profession hoping to reach that goal of jedi. That's a lot of work. I for one, didn't even own a holocron. I played the game in a way that I found enjoyable. Exploring the differant planets, and enviroments. Discovering all sorts of creatures. Running missions for a character as well known as Jabba, no a nothingcriminal on Lok. This was fun for me, I played the greatest Star wars tale ever told...Mine.

What confuses me, if my character is Glowing, that means I worked just as hard to get there, as someone who grinded serveral professions, am I equally able to get into the village as those grinders? Some of you have said yes..that's how you understood TH's post to read. But others did not read it that way. It doesnt seem like a hard request. If in fact, me 'glowing' does not give me that chance to enter the village right away, I believe, as well as others im sure, that we are being punished because of how we chose to play the game, that our way was wrong. Who made up that rule, I didnt see that in the guide book anywhere...

If infact glowing does get you invite to village right away...I wouldnt mind waiting the 3,4,5 days it takes for the old man to show up, I wont mind the quests and the time it will take to be a padawan. Hell, I spent 3 weeks looking for a stupid pirate .

I just wish the majority of the questions would be answered so people could understand and relax, continue to play the game as they have been up to this morning instead of spending all day waiting on some old man to show up at the doorstep.

Yes I doubt anyone is mad that they won't be as far along as others. What most people (and myself highly included) are REALLY pissed about is having to wait to even START. I would much rather have to do 10billion missions and start today, then have to do 10million missions and wait days or even weeks to even start. I can completely understand limiting the number of people doing a certian part of each quest to cut on lag and server taxation. But instead of controlling the number of people by making us WAIT, do it by making each part spawn at a different place (i.e. Start is on dath, part 2 on yavin, part 3 on lok), spread it out over these worlds.

And yes I well know that no one besides the lowly 15 dollar a month person will even take a second look at this post, but heck its better than staring at my chara for 3 days hoping I will see some Old Fart walk up to me and let me into a village.

I will give you a reason....

Because you already unlocked during patch 9. and you have 101 badges. and your glowy.. I guess maybe you should just sit and wait a little while longer. I mean obviously you have been playing for a while. What did you expect?

Just chill and wait your turn. If you cancel your account. Then you just wasted all that time.

Peace out

And may the force be with you glowy one....

You people talk like the end of the game is here, you could not be more wrong. What? So the old-man didn't come and sit in your lap before you even finished loading? That is no reason to start hammering the Dev team.

Now, listen up.

There are TWO ways to get visited. Yes, TWO.

First method is the old Holo Grind. Under this system of unlocking, there were four known professions you had to master, and upto four unknowns. If you found them all, you would know by now, as you would have had your message onscreen telling you you feel in tune with the force, or whatever. If this is the case, EXPECT A VISIT WITHIN 72HRS! If you managed to grind all of the known professions, and all but ONE of the unknown professions, EXPECT A VISIT WITHIN 72HRS!

If you still had 2+ Holo Professions left to grind, either unknown or known, you will be in one of the 'group's, and will have a little longer to wait. I would guess at 3 days wait per profession that you did not get, upto a maximum of FIVE profs, or 15 days.

If you didn't grind at least 3 holo profs, and therefor have more than five left out of the eight, I couldn't say what your odds were. Yes, there is no way of knowing, but to be honest, the Glowy / Badge method is so much easier. Sorry for lack of info here, but the Devs are sketchy with the details

Now, the SECOND method.

If, like me, you have been playing the game like a addict on pure caffeine to get as many badges as possible, you may find that you have become in tune with the force. When you type /checkforcestatus you might be told 'You feel an inner glow. The Force is with you'. IF THIS IS THE CASE, EXPECT A VISIT WITHIN 72HRS!

If you are not at this point, go to the Test Centre forum, get the list of badges required and go get them ingame, it is not hard, you can be Glowy within a week of even casual gameplay, ensuring your Old Man visit within 72hrs

Stop griefing the Dev Team, this system is simple and easy, all you need is 72hrs of patience.

Ahhhhh well, expect nothing less I guess. Wait, wait wait some more. My buddy is was a hologrinder and unlocked on profession 30 three weeks ago. I log on today /che and I am surging with force. Next 2 hours I do a couple of key badges and The Force is with me. What sucks is that this guy has been with the game from day one and did the grind which took months and has to wait more (5hours waiting no old man). I "unlocked" this morning and I have to wait as well (I started playing over a year ago - not from day one but close enough).

Difference: This guy did the old system and did the grind now he is having to wait?!?!?! He and I assume many other's who have unlocked were very excited about this patch now it seems to be a complete drag. I myself played the game as I wanted to, the Holo-idea came out and my first holocron said to master musician - no disrespect to all the entertainers out there but this was not a profession I was interested in doing what so ever so at this point the idea of grinding was gone.

My ONLY hope was this patch and now we have to wait for "groups". /sigh

I would like to say that although this does feel like a stab in the back for those who wanted to play the game as it should have been to begin with; THE PLAYERS WAY, the thing that sucks is the system YOU set up for the grinders doesn't even works since they have to wait as well?!?!?!?

I would like to also point out that up until now I have been extremely happy with the game. The graphics are unreal, the changes in the game for the most part have been good (player associations, play cities, vehicles, creature mounts, etc.....) I do not want these things to be overlooked. This game has gone a long way in a year's time span and it has done so with the both the Players and the Developers and the feedback from both.

In closing I would plead for there to be some sort of medium to this insanity. For those who played the old system and put in many long hard hours they should be rewarded. For those who have played the game for the pure enjoyment in trying to "create the greatest Star Wars story ever told.......THEIRS" they should also be rewarded.

If the problem is the amount of toons in one area how about just make multiple villiages on different planets (the one's no one really visit) with less traffic ie. Yavin, Endor, and Dathomir. Just please please do something.

TH- (please answer this)

I am a hardcore pvp'er. I have "glowy, the force is with me", I have finished 24 professions. It is still possible that I might be in group 4, but I could also be in group 1.

My question is, am I expected to hang around outside the city not knowing how long it will take to get a visit? 1 day or maybe group 4 which could be weeks? If it's weeks, just let me know so I don't waste all my time looking for this guy that Itechnically qualified for butmaybe not qualify for now....

And I say"looking for the old man" becauseyou said he is outside cities... Well, I pvp, and I never pvp outside of cities, therefore, I have to go looking for him in places I don't usually go....

I am not here to rant or complain, i just want to say i feel very cheeted. I took off from work and school so i could play today and all i find out is the dev lied to me about how many silent profs there were and that it may be weeks or months till the old man FINALIES visits me. I never realy wanted to quit the game, and haveing to wait my place in line to start the quest is not realy why i am upset. I am mostly pist at the fact that I was under the impression that i get to start the quest today and i was not informed untill this morning differently. /sigh. Been playing since launch and i have never felt so pist.

Is that some form of reply or just general harrasment. If you bothered to actualy read my post. i stated i was seeking legal council and you are not QUALIFIED LEGAL COUNCIL so please just post your own statement as this is NOT A reply to mine but a form of harrasment.

NOW ANSWER ME THIS..

WHAT about new players THEY will never have a chance to open the Force Slots that are awarded to older jedi. The New player will never have a chance to compete or to play on the same field. You will still have OLD player JEDI running around beating down others.

Why pay in to that?

I have read and re-read my box, and the EULA. NOWHERE does it say that SOE will decide that I can be a Jedi. In fact it say's "Follow YOUR OWN PATH with a skill-based advancement system, whether you become you become a bounty hunter or a dancer or a merchant or EVEN A JEDI". I started playing to become a Jedi, it's 10 months of playing and they now tell us that they have been deciding this entire time who will become a Jedi! SOE you guy's really STINK! I smell class action law suit.

I think the entire jedi-system is totally messed up. I mean, I really could care less about having a jedi avatar. I watched my entire guild fall apart because everyone was hologrinding. I saw the Coronet and Tyrena cantinas almost change overnight, as the floods of afk entertainers dominated what were oncelively and *shock* entertaining places to be. I felt for the hologrinders that paid millions of creds for holos, then watched as SOE flooded the game with them by handing out *surprise* holocrons!

I still feel for my mates that had the holo-hoochies. The devs implemented the system and then watched it wreck the community. I remember waiting along with my mates for their fs slot to open - after just one more profession. We debated on guild chat...wondering if the number of professions to unlock had changed. Now, I feel even more disgust for this new system that's being implemented. I won't go into that though. Too many ppl have already done it. Besides, what really is the point?

My complaint echoes what another poster in this thread commented on. As a crafter, I have to wonder what the point is of my even playing jedi - oops I mean star wars (?) online. At some point, most of the serious crafters are going to be fs, and there is no way I'll be able to compete with that, unless I choose to become fs. Now, if someone could possibly explain to me how fs crafters are all over the galaxy peddling their wares and not out fighting this galactic war, I'd be thankful.

It seems that jedi touch every aspect of this game, altering the very nature of the game I started playing last September. If I had known that SWG was all about jedi -- to the point where to be a competitive crafter I'd have to become FS -- I'd have never have gotten sucked into the game. Part of it's enjoyment was the many varied paths that a character could take...jedi being one of them (eventually).

I also feel like jekyll and hyde with regard to this game. One day I'm having fun, then I read that the dev's actually lied to their customers. Frankly, I can take any decision that the devs make in-game. It is their game after all, like it or not. But I'm wondering why I should pay to be lied to? Amazing, but this never happened from either of the other games I played (from 2 diff. companies --- obviously neither were SOE). Then again, I usually spent most of my online time in-game and not reading forum posts - official or otherwise. Makes me wonder if ignorance truly is bliss.

Initially with the old system, you had to unlock 5 hidden master boxes. As the number of Jedi increased on the servers, we increased the required number of hidden boxes. As the number increased, people were completing more and more professions to hit the hidden requirements. Although we will not be giving specific credit for the total number of professions ground, we will be giving credit for how many of the required hidden master boxes you completed. There is a very strong correlation between the raw number of professions that players completed and the number of hidden master boxes people completed. In other words, for those players that acquired 32 master boxes, they by default acquired the necessary 8 master boxes that unlocked their slot. For players that finished 29 or 30 master boxes, they almost certainly acquired 7 of the necessary 8 master boxes that unlocked their slot. This was the case all the way down the scale.

Clarify this sentance?

Is it 5 Hidden Professions after you go silent, after you do you 'crons?

Is it 4 Professions -from 'crons - and one silent?
