Dear Devs,
It's nice to know what taking the time to do those two holocron professionsearned me: a big, steaming **edit** sandwich. I could tolerate it if the holocron path to getting a jedi were just an internet rumor, but it was the dev-designed and -supported system. I chose to trust the statement that we would get credit for the holocron professions we did, and I decided that doing the jedi quests under the new system would be funner than hologrinding before it got here. Now, instead of being twenty-five percent (or better) of the way to having a jedi, I'm zero percent of the way.
I'm not glowing, so the old man won't visit me. People keep telling me that I need to get badges for him to show up. Okay, I have sixty-six badges. The only badges left fall intofive categories: hermit-quest badges, which I can't get because I don't have a combat profession (I gave mine up to do the second holocron profession, on the belief that it would be worth something); corvette-mission badges, which I refuse to do because the corvette is the least-fun experience I have had playing this game (which is saying a lot with the kind of crap this game shovel feeds on a daily basis); the Keren racing badge, which I can't get because I don't have a gig of ram and refuse to cheat; rebel and hutt badges, which I can't get because I'm imperial; and professions badges. So, I guess I get to grind professions if I want a jedi. Boy, I'm liking this improved system.
To sum up, I'm A) not getting credit for the holocron professions I mastered; B) not going to be visited unless I start grinding professions; C) losing a month of profession-grinding time due to false promises; D) playing with a character that doesn't have the professions I want because I traded my combat profession to master my second holocron profession; E) unable to do anything fun in the game for the same reason; F) paying a monthly fee to play the laggiest, buggiest game on the market because it's a namesake knockoff of a movie series. One of those things is going to change soon; I'll leave you to guess which.
I hope Blizzard writes you a thank-you letter for all the players you're giving them. Thanks for the royal screw job--you're still the best dev team around for that!

For those of you who KEEP saying you are tired of the people complaining, because you FINISHED your holos, you will soon be playing alone, LOL.
Think about this... Blizzard, a WAY better gaming company, with YEARS of experiance in MMORPG's is coming out with WoW. Already this game has almost NO BUGS, and its not even out yet. MANY of us in SWG are testing WoW. It's making these SWG devs look like NOOBs when it comes to creating a game. IF JTL blows like patch 10, YOU WILL ALL BE ALONE, LOL. who will you show off to? The 200 other people on? SWG will lose servers 1st, i've seen it happen MANY times to games just like this one, oh, it has a different face, but they areALL vulnerable. With Guild Wars and WoW coming out, and Guild Wars having NO Monthly fee, SWG may take a beating. I for one am ONLY in SWG for JTL. I had paid for 1 year in the game just to try JTL, I LOVE piloting spacecraft in games, so JTL is the ONLY way for SOE to save me. So, before you people start whining about the people complaining & that have stuck with these NOOB devs, give it a rest, let them complain, being ripped for 15.00 a month to do the same thing over and over for a year is bad enough, they deserve to be able to complain in the forums for that. The ONLY new thing these devs have given us is pictures, LOL, and the AV-21 from the vette, IF you have played ANY other games, you'd know thats actually darn sad. Anyway, pick the game thats the most fun for you to play, and go play it, if it's not this one, leave it fast to be happy in another, it's your life, and your money(unless your parents pay for you), GO HAVE FUN!!!!!!

there will be no difficulty in doing that - she just needs buffs, a decent composite armor and a pre-nerfnym carabine (the one that doesn't require certification)
with my artisan/ws/merchant i did all the required POI and the jabba themepark easily
now i agree that there will be a serious problem with the exit quest... but that seems to be a concern for the distant future by the way things go now with the old man visits and all
umm I have all the pois, jabba, nyms, and imp theme parks.. the hero badge.. and I am still just feeling the surge of the force... and all it seems I have left is the warren and the corvette... i am tkm/dancer yet, my crafter will not be able to do either of those
anyone have any thoughts on that ?

So today i did a checkforce and it said im glowing.. so now i was expecting a old man to visit me but he didnt came. After reading this posting here and the fridays feature about the village i wondering when i will be able to continue...
Since i wasnt profession grinding and just mastered a few professions (those that id like to play actualy) i'd expect me to be in group 4.. so now looking at the following passages from the fridays feature:
"The player may only accept and complete one quest per village phase."
and
"There are four phases each lasting for several weeks."
So those that mastered all and those that mastered all but one will surely be able to finish within the first village phase as much as i understand the system, Group 1 will probably need 2 phases already, group2 will need 3, group3 will need 4 phases atleast.. is that correct?
So my Questions to the dev are the following:
1) Did i understand right that it will take _atleast_ 11 phases before group-4 will probably be able to visit the village?
2) Regarding the fridays feature each phase lasts for some weeks, so i can estimate to start with my village stuff when? half a year? next year?
3) Does grinding professions after the publish now will still help me to improve my position in the queue?
4) Is a command planed to be able to see in what group you are? (i.e. upgrade /checkforce ?)
Well after reading all those negative postings here i aint really expecting an answer to my questions anymore, however i have to add that if i really have to wait now for months to be able to continue at all and cant do anything in that time to progress id be really disappointed.

So, if you "feel the inner glow... the force is with you"..., it is still possible to not qualify for the "visit by the old man" until group 4?

Sooo with phase 1, since i cant get in (didnt hologrind much) and with all the others trying to get in, it'll be phase 2 in no time..which at that point, theres no use in trying to see if i get a visit, cause correct me if im wrongbut atthat stage (2) is the next after phase1 and i need to go through phase 1 first......soooooo I have to wait 12 weeks (3 months) for every phase to go by until 1 phase comes around again, which depending if i dont get in that time, i have to wait another 12 weeks (3 months) to see if I can only start my jedi building experience, and thats pretty much all i've been waiting and wanting to do since the combat rebalance hasnt happened......well coming from a veteran and very dedicated player to the game besides not much hologrinding becausei thought the new system wasnt going to be about that.......i kinda think theres no reason in wanting to become a jedi now, since its very possible that i'll be waiting atleast 3-6 months now. you know theres not realy much new content for a veteran player like me and other veterans and this was the only new thing i havent really tryied and now i cant even get that chance.
this sucks. sorry, but i was expecting something else from the patch, like the Old Man and not waiting in the wilderness not playing the game, just waiting......and waiting.........waiting.....................and then just sitting there, looking around.......... waiting...............

I find it interesting the amount of new forum members that are posting in this thread...take a look, you'll see alot of them. What does that tell us? Well, most of them seem to have been waiting a long time for the opportunity to start down the Jedi path...and maybe alot of them lurk here in the forums, but never post.
What does it say that many of them are now starting to post, mostly in the negative? I hope TH is noting the demographics of the forum users, because it can tell you alot.
Incidentally, I'm not a new forum user, my main character's account was cancelled 3 weeks ago, so I created a new user ID under my alt. I've been playing since launch, but I'm not getting into my history here...suffice to say, alot of people seem upset, alot of them came out from the shadows of just lurking here, and decided it was time to make their opinion heard.
Just because it says "New Member" doesn't mean they haven't been playing for over a year, with 2 or 3 or more accounts...
As always TH, I'll wish you luck on this one, because this thread will end up beinglike the Combat Balance delay thread all over again...

OK_ so here is the question that many of us have. I mastered a few profs, six of em, got some badges.
I didnt recieve any message, so how do we know how long we have to wait?
Should people like myself just assume that we are in the last group? There seems to be NO way of knowing.
I started playing back in december, and this waiting crap HAS GOT TO GO. Ive waited a long ass time to become jedi.
Now its not like I dont play the game, Im on EVERY DAY, or very close to that. I hunt all the time and because I'm not an
aggressive grinder I have to wait longer?
CAN WE MOVE ON WHILE WE WAIT FOR OUR TURN AT THE VILLAGE? CAN WE POSSIBLY GET INTO A EARLIER
GROUP BY GRABBING BADGES?
I think its messed up how you punish us fellow non prof grinders. You said that you didnt want/like the fact that people were
grindingout profs, so to FIX the problem you ADD MORE FREAKIN SECRET STUPID ASS PROFS?
SO YOU CONSEQUENTLY SCREWED ALL THE NONE PROF GRINDERS AND THE GRINDERSGETTOMOVE ON TO JEDI??????????
Ok- lets rationalize this for a sec
Dont like Prof grinders: soe solution- add more secret BS profs - ( WHICH THE GRINDERS WILL GRIND ANYWAYS CAUSE THATS WHAT THEY DO)
So by adding secret profs, all you do is encourage more prof grinders, and to make them more aggressive, which is
exactly what you didnt want.
I say reward the vets, the hardcore, no life having players such as my self. I put in atleast 60 hours a week or so- thats all
day every weekday. That is experience, where is my reward? o- its in the vendor limit- so now i cant sell the things I loot. I
will have to delete everything I get, cause between being a crafter and a hunter that vendor limit is freakin super low.
KICK ASS JOB YOUR DOING SOE- KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, and you will have NO customers.
On a side note- to anyone who is anxious about JTL- just think how riddled that thing will be with bugs, if they cant even get
their priorites straight. Think about that before you send your money to japan.

Congrats SOE when I think you cant make me wait anymore, you always do. Making players who have waited months, if not over a year to get jedi, when the quests are in live ready and waiting for them is just stupid. I understand you want to controll the jedi population, but making people wait even longer just makes us mad. I did 15 professions, I know alot of people did more than me and I'm not saying I should be first, but it irrates me to no end letting others go first and making me wait just cause they might have guess better than me or grinded on professions when I was out having fun with my guild. I longed on today thinking I could finally start on a guaranteed way to get jedi without having to keep jumping professions then you pull out the zinger. Thanks for taking what hope I had out of this publish.

Wow, I'm totally blown away at how horrible this is...Why not just let all the people who have played for a year be a god damned JEDI!

Ithiris wrote:Get a grip! You people talk like the end of the game is here, you could not be more wrong. What? So the old-man didn't come and sit in your lap before you even finished loading? That is no reason to start hammering the Dev team. Now, listen up.There are TWO ways to get visited. Yes, TWO.First method is the old Holo Grind. Under this system of unlocking, there were four known professions you had to master, and upto four unknowns. If you found them all, you would know by now, as you would have had your message onscreen telling you you feel in tune with the force, or whatever. If this is the case, EXPECT A VISIT WITHIN 72HRS! If you managed to grind all of the known professions, and all but ONE of the unknown professions, EXPECT A VISIT WITHIN 72HRS!If you still had 2+ Holo Professions left to grind, either unknown or known, you will be in one of the 'group's, and will have a little longer to wait. I would guess at 3 days wait per profession that you did not get, upto a maximum of FIVE profs, or 15 days.If you didn't grind at least 3 holo profs, and therefor have more than five left out of the eight, I couldn't say what your odds were. Yes, there is no way of knowing, but to be honest, the Glowy / Badge method is so much easier. Sorry for lack of info here, but the Devs are sketchy with the detailsNow, the SECOND method. If, like me, you have been playing the game like a addict on pure caffeine to get as many badges as possible, you may find that you have become in tune with the force. When you type /checkforcestatus you might be told 'You feel an inner glow. The Force is with you'. IF THIS IS THE CASE, EXPECT A VISIT WITHIN 72HRS!If you are not at this point, go to the Test Centre forum, get the list of badges required and go get them ingame, it is not hard, you can be Glowy within a week of even casual gameplay, ensuring your Old Man visit within 72hrsStop griefing the Dev Team, this system is simple and easy, all you need is 72hrs of patience.
