Though I have not been playing this game since conception, thousands of hours have gone into actually playing the game and trying to become a jedi, I find the current system a joke. Making us go through professions we dont want to; craft craft craft dance. Their should be more of a jedi jump for players who have been playing the game for a lenght of time in their quest to become a jedi. More and more accounts are being lost due to your system. Open a new world for soon or i fear my swg days will soon end.

Great game love the game but hate its direction right now

my only question is what are you going to give the people that have spent months and months grinding 20+ professions that have still not unlocked?!?! When the aforementioned jedi fix goes live there will be TONS of people that have ground 20+ professions to unlock but have yet to do so and on the patch day you will say "yes we realize that you have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours mastering professions to unlock, but the system is now changed...here's a melon to compensate you for your HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF WORK."

what you should do:

you should allow those that have been grinding and grinding professions to unlock the OPTION of still unlocking this way, or choosing the new way. If i have ground 28 professions what do you think i would choose?!?!? taking on a quest that takes months and months and months to complete or grinding a couple more professions to unlock?!?!?

don't get me wrong...i hate the current system to become a jedi...but what can you possibly give the people that have ground 20+ professions on the day this patch goes live?!?!?

One other point occured to me, which I have not seen addressed in the forum, concerning the "death=skill loss" thing.

Months ago, there was a huge discusssion about what the death penalty should be, not for jedi but for all players. You may recall that the original system was scrapped (I guess due to bugs/programming problems?). For a long time there was essentially NO death penalty. Then came the item decay thing, which most people are not crazy about.

The question was raised a number of times about whether skill point loss, in some form, could be the penalty for dying. Death should have SOME meaning/importance. As I recall, the response was something along the lines of "this is too hard to do because of the many different types of XP ..." etc.

Well, now it looks like maybe it's not THAT hard to do.

I still believe that dying should mean something other than having to buy a new shirt every 20 deaths. How about some kind of skill loss for normal players' death? Maybe not as severe as for the jedi, but something to make death a significant event?

Oh great a galaxy full of Master Jedi coming to a server near you, continue rewarding the power gamers and screwing the casual ones when the power gamers get bored with their master Jedi they will leave, and I will be gone as well SWG will become Master Jedi Wars.

All the jedi players have done is whine since day one, BH has been broken since launch and we have never gotten a fix, we can't even track Jedi with our droids. So let me break it down for you in a simple way DEVS.

No permadeath + Bugged BH Jedi Missions = 1000's of Master Jedi, Jedi Wars, BH becoming even more useless, Jedi's invading the galaxy in a timeline when they should be scarce.

One way to bribe me and every other BH DEVS is to give us all one suit of Mandalorian Armor that would be nice. (LOL)

Well, Notice that they have said nothing about the quests being easier than the current method. At least the current method is predictable if tiresome.

Well, I have another solution.

Everyone agrees that having a galaxy of Jedis is not a good thing.

Everyone agrees that they personally wish to play a Jedi.

Well, it seems to me that the only cure for these problems is to accept one of these mutually exclusive statements.

For one, I suggest that the only solution is to make it so that a very few people wish to play jedi. Economy is one way to do this.

I.E. if SOE charged 70$ a month for a force slot, I believe that not everyone would care to pay it... although a great many would. So if SOE charged 200$/mth for the privilege of playinga jedi (no grinding necessary), I think we'd hit the less than 5% numbers we're looking for.

(I'm not saying this is a good idea, I wouldn't pay 200$ a month and it would tick me off royaly, but it's a solution)

OK I am sure none of the Devs will reply to this.....but i am going to ask it anyway.....who knows maybe the devs will surprise me by doing something the right way for once,,,,(AKA- Listening and responding to customers). What is going to happen with all the people who have already unlocked their force sensitive slot....are we going to be able to keep them....or are you going to rip them out from under us when it was you people that said once a fs slot is unlocked it will remain unlocked...could you be anymore vague in your stated plans for this jedi revamp. I think you would have a lot less angry people, including myself, if you had elaborated a bit more on what exactly you are planning on changing and when it will be happening......you know more like you did when you revamped creature handler. At least with that revamp we knew ahead of time what was coming and you made a couple, not many, attempts to answer people's questions. I would really like to see a lot more of that going on for this revamp.

Please leave permanent death in for Jedi, otherwise the bloodythings will be everywhere, and us mere mortals will never have a chance in PvP again. They are supposed to be rare and hunted, just how does this fit in withthe Imperial Crackdown. There will be Imperials everywhere....... Piled high all with 3rd degree sabre burns.

There will be Jedi, Master Doctors who will buff the Jedi and crafters, and when I say crafters I mean Armoursmiths, Chefsand Droid engineers, No more BE's Jedi can't have decent pets, no more weaponsmiths, Jedi use Lightsabres which only they can make, no more architects, Jedi don't have lots, no more tailors Jedi wear full suits of composite armour, No more brawlers, whats the point I just get my head cut off by the Jedi, no more marksmen, oh look the Jedi has force run at me and cut my head off, No more Creature Handlers, and since all the crafters will be the Jedis alts then everyone else is completely screwed.

Despite this games fault I love playing it, but I realy don't want to play Jedi Deathmatch!

If they remove jedi permadeath, jedis will be everywhere. You will have lightsaber duels in the cantinas, and jedis dominating PvP. Star Wars immersion will be gone forever.

Please, don't remove jedi permadeath.

Does nobody on the dev team think more than 6 months in advance?

As I have heard quoted in the past "the community do not know what they want". The only thing at present preventing Jedi from cropping up all over the galaxy is the fact that it is HARD and DANGEROUS to train in it. By reducing the risk, you are effectively opening it up to a massive increase in speed and as has been stated already, there'll be Jedi everywhere far quicker than you anticipate.

To draw a parallel in UO, which I know plenty of the devs have a lot of experience of, the economy was kept reasonably healthy for years while PKs stalked dungeons "taxing" those adventurers using them to make a quick buck. The upshot was that you didn't go dungeoning unless you accepted that extra risk. When Renaissance arrived and removed the PK danger the economy went into hyper-inflation almost overnight. A placed house (which I use here as the yardstick)that in the 2 years previous would have cost you 100k rose to a million in the space of 6 months, all because this control on the economy is removed.

To take that analogy into SWG you are creating a situation whereby MasterJedi is no longer an almost unattainable goal, and in doing so you will badly hurt the game.

You are doing this to prevent a short-term loss of players (most likely the kind of player with a short-term attention span) but in doing so you are wrecking the world for those who are here for the atmosphere.

Also consider the damage in balance that will be done to the GCW. Introducing heavily skilled Jedi into the mix will make the non-Jedi PVP fans horrendously outclassed.

In short, you have already disregarded the Star Wars timeline by allowing people to become Jedi. You have already set up a system whereby the short-term gamers (aka powergamers) will become Jedi first. You have already then revised that system so that everyone is encouraged to power game (free holocrons). You are now in danger of flooding the galaxy with high powered Jedi.

To those who always wanted to be a Jedi, I ask you this: was your dream to become one of a thousand identical super-Jedi, or did you yearn to be one of a few mythical elite?

Few thoughts on the Jedipermadeath changes andthe newskill revocation system.

I think that he permadeath changesare too drastic. Hard as the system is now, there still are jedi that advanced just fine. The changes are so drastic and penalties for death so low that the new system would allowa lot of jedi to advance very fast, and once knights and masters, would be practically impossible to drop their numbers. At master level onlyan army could kill them, and it would not affect them as after a week they would have the life they lost back.

What SWG would look like if there would be 30-40 jedi masters per server?I would hate to see jedi gangs running around. Not only the continuity would be broken, but the potential for grief is huge. The system we have now forces the jedi to behave as they should- to hide and train in secret. The new system would allow them to show off, and it would not allow for any serious decrease in high level jedi. I consider this a huge flaw of the new system.

More and more people open the FS slot, more and more jedi we will have. The advancement for jedishould be hard, and theyshould risk everything every second. Only very few should get to knight or master. And once they get there, thereshould be waysfor them to lose what they got. Why? Becasue we cannot have a thousandknights or masters.

However, if these changes have to be made, and i am sure there is enough pressure or it would have not happened, how about one life regenerated per month, and to lose not a box but an entirebranch of the skilltree when extra lifes are used? Even like that, jedi would practically have one free death per month.

Another possibility would be to havethe jedi knights and mastersOVERT all the time, with no covert option. That would balance those extra lifes they get, and the death decay. The could getone hour covert time after a death, so theywould not get camped at cloning center, and then return overt.

I don't know why everyone is flipping out..in one of the interviews with gamespot or whoever they asked how they will keep "how to become a jedi" from being known. They replied..."we can change the way it is accomplished at anytime"

Hello there,

It bothers me that another system in this game is going through a revamp. I agree grinding has to go (i thought the devs said players can obtain a FS slot thru casual play, hah)

First its combat.

Then PVP.

Then the GCW.

Now the Jedi System.

So basically your telling me about 55% of the game is being revamped. All I ask is one question.

What did you do during beta?! You had a full YEAR to figure out all of these problems, and to revamp the systems. I have never seen such a poorly mismanaged game.

If you have to redevelop over 50% of the game after 9 months of playing time, then your system failed, your beta testing failed (i was in beta III and the game was actually fun, but the devs did not listen to the beta testers), and it is further proof that we are still beta testing this game.

Wonderful marketing strategy SOE.......
