Thread: IT 6-6: Imperial Crackdown: Some changes made based on In-Test Feedback

Two things:

1) Covert Rebels who are identified as carrying contraband are made OVERT, or get aTEF?

2) At least Imperials have SOME reason to invest their FP in rank (trivial as it may be). Let's start the rank perks please. More troops out at once, etc.

This whole salute/overt business is nothing but a pathetic attempt by the rebels to to nullify the point of the imperial crackdown.

What if the devs just made the trooper nod or wink and say, "move along?" that wouldn't be 'obvious' then would it? Quit pulling at straws.

Would you like to read TH's post again or do you know what he said already? The salute was put in without conversation with Rebels. Them becoming overt as a result of an Imperial soldier saluting them just makes sense.

You want to choose when and where you PvP? Then go neutral, and only aceept duels on your own terms.

Since you can actually spell I am going to respond to your post. I see this statement a lot.. I also see 'if you dont want to PVP then resign from the rebellion'. Rebels are the freaking majority. Do you REALY understand what would happen if we TOOK your advice? Do you have ANY clue what would happen if all the rebels suddenly resigned? I 100% guarantee you would see a SUDDEN and CATASTROPHIC reversal of the patch. This isn't speculation, its a fact. If there are no rebels there is no SWG since the whole plot is a rebellion against an oppresive empire. Statements like this only guarantee your position will be losing one. If you like the changes you need to find a more constructive way to get that point accross becuase taking this advice is the ABSOLUTE fastest way to undoing them.

Do you then agree that covert Imps that are saluted should be forced Overt, too?

What happens if your an Imperial, in a player Imperial city: Do the same rules apply with the Imperial Crackdown.

YES YES YES.... If your an Imperial, you MUST follow the orders of the Imperial Laws, no matter what (Character created) Imperial town your at. If your townhas a Imperialfaction base, THAT WHOLETOWN SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO THE IMPERIAL RULES. That should mean, no selling of contraband, no selling of slicedweapons, noselling offaction type weapons, no sliced armor.... ect...ect.

No smuggler products to the Imperials,to sell or trade or to use.

If a Imperial smuggler is cought, then that Imperial smuggler should lose rank. If any Imperials are cought with weapons, they should one rank.

If a smuggler who is an imperial iscought, they should be treated WORSE than anyImperial officer ever would.

That is meant to be "sliced" weapons..

Don't imply that I didn't read what Thunderheart said. If I didn't I wouldn't try to defend it.

If the rebels think that lower imperial NPCssaluting coverts of high rank would make those coverts overt, then I say take out the saluting and change it to something less obvious. Get rid of it so it can no longer be made into a loophole.

This is rich. YOU brought realism into the argument, not me.

Did I, now?

Show me WHERE. I defy you to. The only two posts where I even typed the word went like so:

"I'm not asking for total realism - I'm answering the demands for justification of why things will/should be as proposed."

Notice the word not - in the English language, this is what we call a "negative" and it indicates a contrary position.

And:

"Ah yes, Pwyll's fallback argument: "Realism". Were we talking about realism?"

Your buddy Pwyll is the one talking about realism, not me. So it looks like you're the one who missed something in his posts. Get your eyeglass prescription checked.

As for your ridiculous allegation that I only like the system because I'm an Imperial? Read my sig, genius. Yes, one (one) of my characters is an Imperial. The other is a smuggler, and if you ask anyone on Bria who knows of the Red Wolves you would know they are a Rebel guild. YOU're on Bria, you ought to know better.

Yes, I play a Rebel Smuggler. Doesn't that just pull out the only peg supporting your shoddy argument?

Any other flimsy attempts to make me look bad? You just keep digging yourself deeper.

How about you just bow out until you actually comprehend what you're responding to.

One other thing I'd like to add:

I've played on TC and TC-Bria pretty much exclusively over the last couple weeks and I have first-hand experience with the Crackdown. A lot of what I'm seeing in this thread is theory, supposition, hyperbole and hysteria.

If you haven't played on the Test Center servers, all you're really doing is interpreting a single post by TH. and like anything else that's subject to interpretation, it's also subject to misinterpretation. I welcome you all to get on TC and try it out or **edit** until it's Live.

WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! You have got to be friggin pulling my leg.. So what your saying is this.. if your a high ranking imperial its ok to flaunt the emperors will.. I dont think so.. More likely that person would end up like ohh... I dont know.. like Admiral Needa or say Admiral Ozzel.. I would say those guys were pretty high ranking and they got killed because they were stupid.. But I guess breaking the law is ok in SWG if your a "high rank" imperial.. just more BS..

Hmm... well, here's the quote from TH: "Covert Rebels will be identified to all surrounding Imperials (Turned Overt)"

I don't think there's too much interpreting involved here. He explicitly says the penalty for covert rebels is that they'll be turned Overt. So it's quite right for us to assume this is the case, and complain about it since it's a bad move for reasons already discussed in this thread.

Now, there's a chance that he misspoke, and that coverts will instead get a TEF. But you can't accuse us of "misinterpretation". The above quote is all to clear.

And the lack of response from anyone likely indicates that this probably is the case, that they've realized the negative impact this will have, and that they're scrambling to see what they can do to rectify it while not affecting next week's publish.
