Thread: Corellian Corvette Feedback
Wow, some AWFULLY bitter players we have here...
A few notes:
- It's not as hard as some people are making it. It's the approach to the problem that is wrong, not the problem itself; this place is not meant to just blast in guns at ready, shoot first ask questions later. If you do that, you will likely die, even with a huge group. If you are doing this sort of Kamakazi raid on the Corvette no wonder you are frustrated and will not complete it. They key to the Corvette is completing your tasks, NOT clearing the place of MOBS.
- People crying "this is only for defense stackers" (I love that - the "new" CH - the Devs are nerfing something, so suddenly it becomes the reason for every wrong thing in the game to some people) listen well : I am in a group of5 CRAFTERS who can nowcomplete the missions AT WILL. Five lowly crafters, all of whom have one combat profession or less. Do we kill every MOB in the place? No, but all of us have really nice new AV-21's...a bunch of crafters, mind you. This isn't aboutbrawn, it's about tactics. If you are going up there in insane-resist land and trying to kill everything, you aren't likely going to "win" the corvette -even with all the firepower in the world it's tough tojust clear the place out in thetime limit, let alone get all the other tasks done at the same time.
- The clone camping sucks, as does the armor decay - theformer is the essential issue that still deserves a hotfix and the latter is something that I hope is looked at once the Corvette matures. Again, like with completing the thing, going in and shooting on all cycles is just gotta get you ganked - and make you loose buffs and decay. Again, bad tactics - the golden rule of the Corvette, if you haven't gotten it yet, is If you try to kill everything you will be killed.
- The AV-21? The best loot in the game, and worth every moment. If this is your goal, you need to a) finish the corvette to get the schematic, and b) loot the power core. The first part is easy, the second part is entirely luck. There are several loot spots where a power core spawns, and there isn't a power core in every Corvette, it seems. You also shouldn't take people you don't know up there - as many have cried and whined about, if someone loots a power core from one of these spots there is no group message, so make sure you trust those you go up with. I wouldn't go on a ship raid in dangerous territory with a bunch of strangers anyway, but that's just me. In the very unoffical count I have taken, one power core seems to show up every 3 or so Corvette trips. It's not a one-shot deal, guys - if you want the core, you have to work at it.
- Overall, this is really the best thing ever in-game, bar none. I can't tell you how many times on those endless ticket runs and seemingly more endless white hallways my friends and I just look at each other and say, "Man, this is what this game should be..." This is the high-stakes Star Wars fun many of us have been dying for. There is a HUGE amount of content here, from the nine seperate quests and badges to the loot to just the fact you and your group get a private playground within the Galaxy. People are way too spoiled in this game it seems from many posts in this thread; this isn't meant to be a one-shot deal, guys - it's meant to be work and reward. Not random lottery crap where whomever camps the most gets the loot like the Genosian Cave. People need to shift how they think of content like this, not just look at it clouded with their pre-concieved notions.
The Corvette is awesome, and the only thing I can say to those that are bitching, moaning, and complaining about it is that you really need to chill out for a second, go to the game guides forum or find someone in-game who understands how the missions work, and LEARN. Instead of getting spanked and running away, crying about how unfair it is, examine the failure and try again. It's really that simple - if you are looking for instant reward and to just shoot at stuff, go elsewhere, the Corvette isn't for you.
For the rest of us, this is the content we have been BEGGING for since release - and those that don't want to take the time to learn how to do the Corvette properly will just have to be content buying the AV-21 from people like me. I'll laugh my butt off when a Master Commando who cries about not being able to take the Corvette buys a core froma Droid Engineer like me who looted it myself.

in my honest opinion the corvette was designed specifically around people that use defense stacking. the average casual player will find this dungeon to be depressing and a good reason to not attempt it a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time. i think the corvette, and other mini-quest,area mistake on the devs part, they areforcing contentat the expense ofquality.

I second that
(I personally have one as of now, but the ridiculous ratio between schematics and powerplants needs to be addressed)
What really bothered me...and will keep me from going back, ever, is the terrible damage done to my armour. I had just bought a suit of very, very good composite (85/70)
and it cost me 650k....for me that was A LOT..and that suit got creemed, honestly.
I think with some planning and capable people it could be beat, i have already seen some av-21 speeders flying around, so some one got that far anyway.
The price you pay for failure though is extreme, in my opinion. I won't go back to it, just cost me to much.

can I just ask is this what the Devs want to game to become, If you dont have buffs, 90% armor (that btw you cannot eavn put on without buffs) more food and drink than wallmart, spice and be a TKM then half of the content of the game is off limits?
sorry but thats just wrong.
Dev 1: Some of the players are finding the content too easy when they have buffs, 90% armor, powerboost, food and spice.
Dev 2: So lets increase HAM and damage 10 fold
Dev 1: We could just tone down buffs and food then everyone would be able to enjoy the game.
Dev 2: LOL thats funny lets just go with the 10x HAM and damage idea
Right, nobody would complain if they nerfed armor and buffs. I've never heard ANYBODY around here complain about nerfs.
So what?
Some people will complain about anything. And im not asking for an armor nerf, without buffs people simpley cannot eaven ware a set of 90% composit armor, the HAM cost is too high.
Well, I have one problem with the quest. Not that it "is too hard." My problem derives from suspension of disbelief.
The quest is hard by applying the same old tried and true "Dragon Encounter" concept. Just design an encounter, then multiply the HAM of mobs by 10, 20, 100, or 500 to get the desired mortality rate. Invariably this devolves into closed encounters only a few can be successful at, and at the cost of repeated deaths.
For a change, I'd like to see encounters that are hard due to coordination, efficiency, numbers, endurance, and tactics. The dragon zerg thing is getting quite old.
A Stormtrooper with 190K, Heavy armor and most resists in the 75 to 100% is nothing but a dragon in disguise. This encounter showed me just how broken the combat system in SWG is.
The same old solutions were applied to a different problem:
- Hmm, PCs are getting killed too often.
- Ok, give them massive damage.
- Hmm, PCs are getting bored.
- OK, double, triple, or add a few trailing zeros to the HAM of top mobs.
- Hmm, PCs are getting massacred again.
- OK, lets give them ridiculous levels of buffs.
...Repeat the Mounty-Haul cycle ad-nauseum.
It's a shame because the encounter has a pretty good premise. Well, the game really. Think you guys botched the balance by using too broad strokes when both granting and nerfing. It all goes back to the first commando "fix", when they were given ridiculous damage.

I Thought it was extremely difficult. That in itself isn't such a big negative though, even though seven of the strongest members in my guild went, we didn't have a plan of any sort. Everyone just started fighting what we came across. Needless to say such bravado is futile.

I bought armor just for the Corvette and paid 2.5 million for it most of the pieces are under 40% now after 4 times there. There is no reason to group in this game. I have only grouped once without having a tougher time than I would have solo. In a group you have to worry about healing all the players that don't know how to play like the ones using ranged weapons that insist on closing in on the mob. The Corvette is not all that hard to do solo as long as you do not go in killing everything, I usually kill 3 to 4 on each trip. After finishing 4 times I am disappointed I haven't found a Power Plant yet these must be very rare.
Is there a decay bug?
There is NO insurance terminal up there, and no way to apply doctor stat buffs. Given that, we were repeatedly killed while trying to make our way to the escape pods once we determined that a party like ours which consisted of 10 of the game's best player templates (TKMs, BHs, Swordsmen, CM/Doc, etc) were not capable to survive the quest. I'm really so pleased that a rebel group maxed out with Elite and Hybrid players could not even last 5 minutes up there against the Stormtroopers. We never got any story plot. We didn't see any droids. We just burned up half our armor and finally sat in the starting (clone location) room and waited out the timer. Lot's of fun indeed.....
Thank you so very much for the massive amount of decay on some brand new composite since Insurance terminals were not available.I reported it as a /bug report and a CSR ticket and I was told it is working as intended. So is THISsome intentional means to be a money drain? We are going to burn up hundreds of thousands of credits in armor on the Corvette? We were one of the most Elite combination groups assembled and we couldn't even figure out what the heck to do up there, other than die repeatedly while trying to eject.
Is the decay a bug? We were all insured and cloned in Kor Vella before heading to the Rebel base to go up to the Corvette. The first time we died we had a message saying NO decay would be applied due to a PvP related death. The second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, etc it said decay occured due to no insurance. I'm really so very pleased that my brand new advanced composite armor is now at 65% condition!
