-What separated Yoda from Kenobi, orMace from (young) Kenobi, and so on, catch my drift... Yoda for one was one of the highest respected in the Council... why?? Cause he was simply the strongest in the Force.

-You only have so many skill points as a Jedi, and with those skill points you can either become extremley powerful in the force, or a killing machine with a Lightsaber, or inbetween.

-If one pursues to be more prevalent in the ways of the Force then he can gain more status as far as the council goes, and maybe become a part of the Council himself. And those who choose to become more prevalent with use of a Lightsaber then he isn't so much council material, but a forrmidable fighter and guardian.

-Thiscould cancel out the voting system and create different types of Jedi amungst us.

If the Jedi are alwasy Overt against one another, then the Light Jedi should be able to acquire a skill like Jedi Mind trick (like mask scent) to fool Storm Troopers, adn other Imps to keep them off their baack while their in town ( however, like mask scent there lies a possibility of being noticed) But if the Light Jedi embraces his Saber or a Dark Jedi comes aroudn the corner then yeah obviously he will be noticed right away. This will create a cool atmosphere of hiding, and mystery and more of the idea that Jedis ar ein their own world. Tell me what you guys think. TH what do you think?

I have only recently started playing SWG and have been enjoying it so far. My main goal is to become a Jedi, andI imagine that is pretty much everyone else's goal too. At the end of the day this is a game, games are made to be enjoyed, not to cause you mental breakdowns from lack of sleep and anxiety over monotonous grinding on professions you didn't even want to experience. I don't like to 'grind' but so far I've found I've had to 'grind' a few skill trees just to get them out of the way. I understand SOE want to try and get people to try various professions etc.. but I don't really want to be an entertainer, I don't fancy standing around for hours, maybe days on end playing music. Yet with the current Jedi system there is a chance I would need to do that. I like to know where the game I'm playing is leading, I need to know I can reach a goal. At the moment I find I'm just fumbling around in the dark being overwhelmed by the thought of having to master over 30 professions. I don't mind putting a SERIOUS amount of work in to become a Jedi, but I'd like to know that I can get there without all this monotonous griding, this side of the game is not fun. I shouldn't have to grind to be able to reach Jedihood. A basic FS level to start would be good, then a serious amount of work after that. At least that way I would have some goal to aim at and know exactly what needed doing to get there, whether that means doing quests etc.. or playing some PvP. As for people worrying about the continuity, I think we can safely say that's all gone to pot already. Tatooine is supposed to be sparcely populated for one, on our server there isn't that much open desert left, let meput it that way It is a game, so what if there are slightly more Jedi about the place than historically stated. A few points, a) The Jediaren't all going to be in the same place at the same time. b)They aren't all going to be online at the same time. c)They should still have their original character to maintain so won't always be logging in with their FS character anyway. I personally am looking forward to this new Jedi system, if it aids me in finding my path to Jedi Knight it's more than welcome in my book.

Oh one last thing. I think 250 skill points is a bit tight. A maximum of 3mastered professions (out of 32-33? soon 36 with JTL?) doesn't really sound enough. After my first 4 days playing I had already run out of skill points and had to start dropping hard earned skills. How about 500 skill points? That would allow a few more skills yet not give away too much power to any one person.

Annnywho. I don't really know what the hell I'm talking about so I'll sign off. Thanks for listening!

Having read the posts and the proposed changes for publishes 9 & 10, I am left with 1 important question. Whatever happened to this game being about Star Wars?
Don't get me wrong, I love this game and the attempt to set it in the Star Wars universe. But why are the professions nothing like what we see in existing Star Wars publications and media? Does Sony really need to reinvent the wheel? For instance, let's consider force use as it exists in all current Star Wars fiction:
The force is divided into the 2 basic aspects, light and dark. Sony is somewhat on the right track with making these 2 aspects separate professions. However, by doing so they lose the basic personal struggle of a light jedi trying to avoid being seduced by the dark side; or a dark jedi being redeemed to the light side (but that's a discussion for another time).
In current Star Wars fiction, tapping into either of these force aspects to generate effects comes through use of 3 basic skills; Alter, Sense, and Control. To fit these into the SOE 4 branch skill tree would be simple. You'd have Lightsaber, Sense, Alter, and Control. All of a Jedi's capabilities could be encompassed without compromising the concepts that already exist in the Star Wars Universe.
As is plainly evident, current Star Wars concepts can readily fit into SWG, so why isn't SOE using them? If you're going to pay the Lucasarts royalites for the Star Wars name, why not actually use it's material? Isn't that what official licensing is for?
This is just one small example of a simple change that would help SOE realize it's stated goal of immersion in the Star Wars universe. If that's really what we're attempting to achieve, why not simply do it? Why does everything need to be altered away from the, well-established, Star Wars universe?
Devs, if you actually read these, I have a small list of readings that would help you achieve your stated goals. Drop me an email.

The game is Star Wars... Yet its our own story intwined with the sotry of Star Wars... At some point we need to break away and kinda make our own story... Dont get me wrong I love Star Wars and everything, but at what point do we start making our own journey? I mean if we stick 100% to the story line... then whats the use of being an Imperial, we all know the outcome. So, why dont we think of a way to keep it Star Warsy yet... at the same time... our own epic.

I know there will be alot of rebutle to this, but I cant help but voice my opinion. I am sorry devs and all others that contributed to what can only be described as begining of the end of SWG. The granting of use of the Force to a limited degree by all players is ridiculous. No where in the movie or the story did I ever see any non -Jedi character use the force and now you are planning to give that access to players in the game. I thought the use of the Force was a special talent, the ability for a person to tap into its power and use it, but youhave to be trained to control it and use it effectively. Now what you have created is a mass population that can wield it to some degree for as mundane a purpose as crafiting....yay..Im glad to be a jedi I feel so special.

Then to make matters worse, you now tell me in order to make Master Jedi, I have to become a PvP player. You know, not only do I get charged $15.00 a month for this game, but on top of it now you force me into a gaming ASPECT that I hate. Im not a good pvp player, I dont have the talent for it, nor am I intrested in it. Now to obtain my goal I have to either do it, be satisfied with a half made Jedi, or quit. Maybe that is how you plan on population control for Jedi. Weeding our the players that dont like PvP and keeping them weak and useless. Yes a Jedi Knight is powerful, but its NOT a Jedi Master.

I am very glad to see that you have given us a purpose in the game. Made missions and trials for us. I like that part. But my biggest concern is that I wont be able to become a Master Jedi without learning how to do somthing I totally hate. I think you should allow any Jedi to become a master , and use the pvp part to gain temporary jedi skills while in that rank. But dont make me suffer cause I suck at pvp.

I know how I feel compared to others is the minority vote, but I am asking you to reconsider this and make some reparation for those that dont want to PvP. I know that my $15.00 may not mean much to you in the greater scheme of things, but it will be $15.00 less when I quit because you have directed the game into a Mad Max era of SWG.

Anyway thats my 2 cents

Hi love the ideas just a few things i think could inprove it.

There is only two choices for people light or dark the same as imp or reb.

I believe that there should be more, Like:

Nightsisters (NS)and singing mountain clan (SMC)- add a new system sub factions - you dont need to be imp or reb or light or dark - this is how i would like it to happen:

1: you complete your 24 boxes do your force test

2:Then travel to Dathmir to One of the Enclaves NS or SMC - do your trials to get in then choose a new path

  • Rancor Tamer - Use Creature Handler skills, to tame rancors only!!! To breed and define there stats and ham, ALSO as lots of people want are them to be mounts, plus the ability to wield a pike (may be force pike)

  • Sorcerer - Uses herbal techniques to heal and poison like a combat medic, also uses a force scepter/staff

  • Warlock - Uses force powers like a jedi (i.e. lightining etc) also uses one handed lightsabers

  • Hunter/warrior - uses all types of saber techniques, PLUS all new DUAL lightsabers (one in each hand)

I believe this will add new paths for people that are seeking the force like jedi you can master prof.one or two but not all skill boxes in the others or be a good all rounder. This will grant new robes, armour (i.e. like the nightsister bracers). etc

What will happen when there are to many jedi or dark jedi ineach enclave ????

May be you could make A Dark adpets Enclave - they would worship Exar Kun or Freedon Nadd or Naga Sadow. This could also give them new robe designs, new faction perks. The same could happen to jedi may be they worship or believe in Mace Windu or Yoda (Knowing that nowone knows about yoda is he dead or alive at this point in the game, hes hidden from the Emperor)

Holos What will become of them ????

Idea could holos hold the key to:

  • Hidden powers - like battle meditation - like a squadleader it could increase all members in the group powers, skills etc

  • Skill points - gives you enough skill points to get exp for another box

  • Power upgrades - this could be new skill techniques like being able to use Dual Lightsabers or give you force lightining storm.

  • Schematics - for Darth Mauls speeder or starcraft, may be new lightsaber hilts like dath Tryanus (Count Dooku) etc

  • Hidden locations - May be to find rare items, like a treasure map but with really good loot i.e. pearls, crystals etc

This could be a new way to master all skill boxes and be a grand master (dont no about the name for that title)

What will happen with houses or vendors and items that we have collected ????

I think your should change it back to you have a secound slot that is force and only one slot that is force.

Need more info on the jedi combat revamp ????

Why do lightsabers do just one type of damage they should do, heat, kinetic, blast and added damage Fire or bleed

Can we customly make are light sabers? I mean like at bits to it to change its style like adding Horns to hilt to make it look like Exar Kuns ????

This would give more different aspects to making a lightsaber

Thanks for the Info so far

IT looks great i just feel if your cutting it to short theres much more to do if you want more people to play and continue to play

Seph if I read your post right you said that we would need a mask scent ability or something to that effect for StormTroopers. My plan eliminates the need for it per say. You dont pull the saber or use force powers you are not overt to anyone but other Jedi (Light Jedi overt to Dark and Dark Overt to LIght and maybe even other Dark). Now what I do like is that if you get scanned a Jedi should be able to "mind trick" his way out of it (Didnt Arjun say this already happens) and other situations like that. And if we do fight in public our visibility should skyrocket we should get no xp for the kill and everyone non-Jedi should have TEFs (and I mean everyone) on all the "in the open" Jedi. This would force our Secret War. It would also minimize the impact within the normal game and Jedi or the appearance of a Jedi would still be considereda special event.

I also agree with the other poster...no one should be forced into PVP against their will. I personally like PVP but it should not be forced to accomplish or aquirre something personal (like a rank or title) in game.

Two points..

First off Smee check out the last post on Page 18...I agree that the factions should be light/dark.

Also remember folks that Jedi is a form of thinking and way of life. It is not a force user per say. In fact Dark Jedi is a misnomer because it implies that at one time they were indeed a Jedi.

a few disagreements

and a few "I agrees"

I am a roleplayer, and I want to be a Dark Jedi

I would like to see players who have been in an Elite Profession for a long time {insert amount of time} be treated just as those who've Mastered 20.

I think but doing this, it shows that you have not alienated the casual/roleplayer.

I think the PvP approach is fair, those who aspire to gain the ultimate power should have some sort of risk...I would like to see there be some sort of Light/Dark faction.

We should remember that you dont have to PvP unless you wish to advance to a Jedi Knight status (if I read that correctly)
