Thread: Friday Feature Jan 23rd Jedi Revamp
I also think the new death penalty will be way too soft. 3-5 deaths per week just means the Jedi can play out in the open for 2-4 deaths, and then play theirother characterforthe rest of the week, or just hide for part of the week. We'll start seeing Jedi all over the place, and they're supposed to all be in hiding in this time frame. I'd say 3-5 deaths per month might be ok, but 3-5 per week is too easy on the Jedi. Or maybe 1 death per week, with no increases in number of free deaths. A master should be able to defend themselves better anyway.
I think it's a good change. I think they'll gain a whole lot more customers than they lose, by leaps and bounds. In our entire guild, we had one player get upset and log out in a huff last night when we heard about the changes coming to the Jedi system, and he's not even trying to become a Jedi. Everyone else was either indifferentor welcomed the changes to the system.
It's human nature to resist change, regardless of what the change is. If they'd said the path was going to get harder, folks would scream. If they say it's going to be easier, folks will scream. The bottom line is, it's not a popularity contest on core game design decisions, but what stands the best chance of increasing corporate profits ... what will make the most players, both existing and new, the happiest.
A Star Wars MMO where the path to Jedi is discernable and followable, regardless of difficulty, will increase profits.
There are some thatwant to be a Jedi, as long as no one else can be a Jedi. That's like the old Groucho Marx saying "I wouldn't want to belong to a club that would have me as a member."
In the long term, Jedi gameplay will be the saving grace of Star Wars Galaxies, so long as due credit for hologrinding is given (or left in place in addition to the new system) and content is geared towards Jedi challenge and large group challenge in the new planets coming in the Space Expansion.

PS: I never have figured out how to sit in my X-Wing and swing my lightsabre at a passing Tie Fighter.

Can people stop with the "if I wanted to play Jedi Knight/Jedi Academy/KotOR I would have bought it!".
I have played those games.. what I want is to be able to play a Jedi in a massively multiplayer world, with a large collection of friends and guild members.. you can't do that in any single player or LAN based Jedi game!.
I want to play my Jedi as a Jedi would act. I'm not gonna be running around coronet spaceport waving my lightsabre around screaming "look at me, I r L33T!!!!11 lolololo". I would still level in seclusion (like I am my current character), I would take part in large scale pvp (battlefields, city defense, city raids etc), and I would act covertly when I went to a large city..
I'll throw one back at you.. if you want Jedi to be rare or non-existant and suffer permadeath.. go watch the movies! Let the game be fun, like games are meant to be.. I already have a job, and it paysME money!!!
Three cheers. Ziaa should have the final word on this one, as that post is near perfect.

I hope this isn't going to destroy the Star Wars feel of this game even more.
Cause every Jedi that appears, thefeel of Star Wars will vanish more and more.
You are so very weird. And that statement, however well-intended, is so very stupid.
Happy Posting!

I have two problems with these, they are in red... I will address the minor one first.
Was /citywarn not taken out of the game? Should this say
"Players will now get a popup when they are city banned, incase they miss the message behind other windows." ? or is /citywarn being added back into the game?
Now for the major issuse...
"Citizens will now be removed from a city if they haven't been online for about 3 weeks."
The results of this could be catastrophic... without the ability to remove houses, a city will be helpless if many of its residents are 'removed'... if a large number of citizens are 'removed' (I'll assume this means only that their citizenship has been revoked) then the city will have no place to move in new citizens as the old citizens still have their houses up and taking up much space... please do not push this code live in this publish... please let the community have some time to digest the implications of this change and give us some time to talk about it... I'm sure the community and the DEVs can come to some reasonable compromise.
thanks
