Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 4-12-04)
Information.
The DEs would really like a read-out on what is in store for P8. Our coorespondent knows some stuff, but he is afraid to share it with us. So maybe YOU could give us a little something? Perhaps tell us what is in store besides the three new modules, the batttery meter and the customization?
The DEs are getting pretty tired of eating chocolate covered turns. Atleast think about making them with sweet chocolate.

95% of all Weapons repairs are resulting in reduction of Max condition...
Something HAS happened to the weapon repairs since Publish 7 was launched.
Repair has been changed in general. See here for some proof.
Hmm... It looks like I can't edit in this forum and I can't post links for some reason. The thread is here:

Well, it has a better shot at that, than it does at Sci-Fi RPG of the year. If SOE would just focus on droids for a couple publishes, it COULD be more of a SF than a Fantasy game. As stated by a DE forum poster: "Look around the starports, and tell my why half the players are toting melee weapons in a SF game?"
A fancy wall paper, and NPC droids due out in the minin-publish do NOT constitute a droid invasion. That, along with SOEs utter refusal to communicate with the DEs in the forums, or even to allow our coorespondent to, leads this DE to believe there is no future for DE, and thus, no future for SWG as a viable SF game.
What does George Lucas have to say about all this?
So what we want is a list of what is being done to save the game in general, and DE specifically.
Weapon/armor/clothing repairs still 'broken'. In spite of this comment:

Nothing changed with the success rates for repair kits.
A 25 sample set, split between different tool qualities and tailor skill levels is way, way too small a data set for this type of statistical analysis. The randomization chances throw too much noise into the test. You would need at least 100 samples per test case to have a reasonable chance of showing statistical trends. When analyzing these types of situations I prefer tests with several thousand samples myself. Thanks for the info though.
Considering the number of people who have noticed a drastic change in success rates on repairs, I'd have to say the above Dev comment is without merit. Something has changed the success rates on repairs, it might not have been a change to the repair tool code ... but a change in the check for a player's weapon repair skill level. Armorsmiths, weaponsmiths and tailors have all reported a noticeable change in their repairs. The issue needs further review because the statement quoted is not jibing with in-game experiences.
Regarding vehicle/rider warping I have discovered a couple of things.
1.) Someone on these forums discovered the reason for rider "leaping". If you mount your vehicle while moving you WILL fly over the handle bars when you dismount. To avoid this just make sure you have stopped moving before you get on your ride. I have tested this and have had %100 success.
2.) Vehicle running away from you. From my experiences I have noticed this event happen if I drive my vehicle over an object that I could normall never walk over. Examples: small rocks and low walls. I tested this with the low wall around the Imperial Shuttle at the Emporers Retreat and each time I hopped off my swoop would fly back to the point it touched the wall.
Any response to this petition?

You'd think after 22 pages, someone would grace us with their presence.

The Combat Revamp has been delayed (sorry).
Why did you spend months telling us the Combat Revamp would solve everything then post it as coming in Publish 8 as a Friday Feature only to have it delayed? did revamping Jedi take that much time? don't say you had to "balance" it because we know that's a lie.

This is a thread on "Is George Lucas Tired of Star Wars?"
It may enlighten many on why SOE has had a pretty much free hand "butchering" the Star Wars Universe. This is not the immersive game I was told to expect in the advertizements.
Giving DE some real love would go a long way to steering SWG back down the SF, rather than Fantasy path.
So what WILL DEs get with P8? What is listed on the publish notes is not even worth mention. What's the rest of the story? Out coorespondent won't say.
