As a covert rebel PvE player this publish will force me into PvP if I continue to have sliced items or spice! Nice, you know how some of these PvP'ers can behave.

I think the proper response here is that most of them DON'T. 9/10 of them act like they were born in a barn and have never had a day of schooling in their lives. It's sad to see someone who might possibly be in his 30s run around like a 12 year old who's missed his ritalin and who grew up with Andrew Dice Clay as the prime form of entertainment.

Yes, saddly you are right.and AudioOrgana's post (as discourteous as it was) sounds like sweat talk compared to what actually happens in game.

IMP's camping rebel terminals for return TEF'ed players is bad enough... Now this!

TH,

This patch as it applies to smugglers was a bad choice. It gives away profession abilities as a faction perk. We invested skill points as smugglers to smuggle. We should be, even at novice level, better than anyone who has not invested skill points. Instead, an Imperial player may declare overt or grind/purchase enough faction to smuggle better than someone at the master level. You've seen us post on these issues. You've heard the arguments. There were and still are other ways to remedy this issue while giving Imperials power at the same time (which they should have). So as not to be accused of only having complaints or being a "whiner", I'll post some alternatives to "Imperials who are overt or high ranking coverts get a free pass per the Emperor's order."

"Now being a Rebel has consequences, and of course the whining begins."

Audio, at what point did ANY smuggler say anything about being a rebel? At what point did the word rebel ever escape my mouth? Everything I've argued for has been from a smugglers perspective. I'm a rebel and have NO problem with the penalties for rebels in this patch. In fact, the best solution I heard during the smuggler's debates on this issue was just removing the contraband part of the patch. Rebels still get attacked. Smuggler profession gets left alone. Imperials still walk. That'd be all kinds of fine by me.

This is NOT about the GCW for smugglers. This isn't even about MONEY for smugglers (I know. whoa. more important than money?). This is about the abillity to smuggle. In short, we can't smuggle. This new patch offers the groundwork for that, and let me say before ANYONE calls us ungrateful for that, that we LOVE that part. The part that'sa problem for us is that when our Revamp comes and we get a smuggling system BASED on this patch, and Imperials are still Immune, then Imperials will be better at our job then we are. It's not about the immediate consequences of this patch, it's looking down the road. Please do NOT misunderstand the issue and say that we just whining because we don't want consequences, or that we're just greedy or ungrateful. None of these things are relevant to the issue for us. What is relevant is that we would like to really smuggle some day, and if these contraband checks act as the mechanical base for that and part of that mechanic is Imperials get a complete and total walk through at the expense of buying some faction points, then we're gonna have a problem down the line.

Then it should be advertised that the GCW is PvP only and that the "Rebels" and "Imperials" are but two sides of a player fought war that only involves 23.94% of SWG's population (taken from Astromech Stats).

This, to me, is one of the most disappointing things about "Imperial Crackdown". Instead of "getting me into the GCW",it's had the opposite effect...

No one is forced into PvP - it'sa choice you make based on your playstyle and decisions you make regarding the GCW.

Finally, Rebels have something to fight against, to REBEL against, to make them fear the Empire - as it should be.

Oh and AudioOrgana, if I misconstrued your comments, let me say I'm sorry now. We've had NO end of trouble trying to get our point across, and it's almost like reflex for me to clear up misconceptions and jump in the fray at this point. So if you weren't hasslin' on Smugglers' Views of this patch, then forgive me, I misinterpreted.

I'd have to say in general the crackdown isn't visible enough. I see a few (not many) more random imperial NPC's in town (in Espa that is) and have yet to be scanned for anything (purposefully been walking around all day with an inventory full of contraband to see what kind of fine it was). I'd say its a good idea but needs to be moved up a couple of notches.

The forced PVPI don't care for at all. Its unrealistic for the imps to know that somone is a rebel unless they find rebel materials on the suspect. It should never have been implemented.

To make it realisticand rebels can be uncovered from being covertand forced overt then the imperials should be not have a need for covert at all. Theyare in charge what are they hiding from? Remove the covert optionfrom imperial faction members all together. They don't need it they own the gallexy.

There's a problem where the buffs visible in the buff GUI disappear from the GUI upon a relog, but the buffs themselves are still in effect. I buffed myself with a music buff and then disconnected and immediately reconnected. The buff GUI is still up but it is blank. It is as if my buffs do not exist. However the modifiers on CTRL+C still are there.

Forced PvP is just not on. As I will never ever compete with anyone who has the ability to PvP, I choose not to fight. When I get tagged and killed without fighting back it annoys me. If it is going to stay this way, then PLEASE, if a weapon is sliced, put it in the details that it has. I'm now paranoid about buying anything now, in case it's been sliced and i'm going to get my ass kicked for it. As it is, I don't know what I was tagged for because none of the things I am carrying have been labelled sliced or not.

At least it took 2 weeks for me to get PKed for the first time in this game.

I do like the whole Imperial crackdown theme, saw the increased patrols in Bestine and like the variation in the patrols(saw Scouts,Dark Troopers & Heavy Stormtroopers). Does give the feeling of Imperials running the show, which is as it should be. It's made me consider resigning from the Rebels(which I was using just to get some extra training points), as the dangers now far outweigh the rewards. Ican see a lot of players flocking to player cities, to get away from the main cities which I fear might turn into one big Imperial playground. I can also see a lot of clans springing up, now that faction choice really does carry consequences to it.

Anyway, all I can do is keep doing my own little building thing, and fight the eternal struggle to get apprentice XP. Don't take anything I say as actually believable, I've only been playing for 10 days so I might be talking absolute crap. Just my opinion.

I checked all 3 'Imperial' cities and there are 0 NPCs anywhere and the Faction bases are empty. Nice job.

When i logged in and looked around i had to ask "Was the crackdown this patch or the next?". Seems all the imperials in the cities were farmed for thier faction when the servers came on. As we talked threw the day the crackdown was regarded more as a joke then anything. So, i cant comment on how the penalties or anything is working since i couldnt find someone to scan me even when i tried.
