Th this is cool and all but like we've said, we're not worried about what this patch will mean now, but what it'll mean to Smuggler's FUTURE (read: revamp and beyond) because this seems like good groundwork for you guys to build off of to give us smuggling. PLEASE TELL US that whatever you're planning WON'T be affected by the fact that Imperials are and will be Immune to all contraband scans now and in the future. Because if they are whatever we get with the Smuggler's revamp will be TRUMPED by that. We've been very patient about this, but "Wait and see" indicates that you don't understand our concerns, as "Playing and find out" won't tell us anything until much further down the line. ALL we want right now is for you to say, "We promise this patch will NOT impugn on your later abillity to smuggle." That's all.

If you listen to Audio Organa up there, the proper response to this would be, "Gee, must be tough to be a smuggler. AS IT SHOULD BE." Of course, that completely ignores the fundamental PROBLEMS with the patch, but no one ever accused most people of being perceptive enough to catch some things.

I'm not a smuggler, but I feel for the smugglers as well with this last patch. At least I can see where they're coming from and don't climb on my hobby horse like most of the Imp players here. A 3 year old in a Stormtrooper helmet looks stupid.

Please don't put words in my mouth, thanks.

The point is, being a Rebel has been a piece of cake since this game began - nothing more than a choice based on nostalgia. Nothing to fight for, nothing to loose.

Now being a Rebel has consequences, and of course the whining begins.

Is it perfect? No, but it's a start - those that are already whining just because being a Rebel has become a bit more difficult should consider joining the Imperial faction, which is what those that don't want to be "cracked down" upon do.

It's that simple, and that's why being a Rebel needs to have consequences like this - if you don't like the life of a Rebel, become an Imperial Law-abiding citizen. It's a choice you make - and finally, that choice means something besides spouting hate in spatial - it actually is a gameplay mechanic.

You don't GET it. Did I ever say there should not be consequences? No, I did not, so don't put words in MY mouth, thank you very much. The only problem I have with this is forced overt. If you're already overt, that's one thing. Otherwise, if I don't want to participate in PvP with a bunch of knuckledragging dimwits and prefer to PvE, then let the NPC stormtroopers be the only ones that can attack someone during a scan if that person was previously covert.

Again, consequences are fine, but someone on the dev team didn't think this one through.

Actually Audio, Ocean makes a good point about forced PvP. Not everyone want's to play "SWG Quake".

A lot of people probably go Covertbecause theydon't want to get involved in PvP, otherwise they'd just declare Overt to begin with. At least with "normal" factional missions you don't get TEFed in town, so you can justhang out in thehills till the TEF drops. With "Scanning" you have very little choice in the matter.

Personally, I resigned as aCovert Rebel, dropped out of the GCW and will remain Neutral till this is addressed. With 76.06% of SWG's population already Neutral, this move to force people that don't like/want PvPto go Neutral isn't exactlyhelping people become involved in the GCW.

It fair enough that life should be a little harder for Rebels, but being forced intoPvP is just plain wrong IMO.

And I STILL say that getting turned OVERT is WRONG because it's forcing PvP on people. Some people went Rebel or Imp just to be able to shoot at *NPC* Stormtroopers/Rebels. There is NO WAY that other PCs should be able to blast you when you're uncovered by NPC unless you shoot first. Then a TEF is perfectly reasonable. Overt? No. NO NO NO.

I have some positive comments about this patch, but they are not appropriate for this thread as they are non "crackhouse" releated. I don't want to get accused of hijacking.

Aw, must be tough being a rebel...

AS IT SHOULD BE.

On the Kettemoor server, I went to Mos Espa. Not one Storm Trooper in sight.

I went to Kor Vella. Not one Storm Trooper in sight.

I haven't travelled to Kaadara yet, but I'm expecting to see the same.

Are the Imperial Storm Trooper spawns not occuring? There are no scans happening anywhere that I'm aware of. The one Imperial trooper is spawning in all the cantinas, but it doesn't do a contraband scan, it's just a rebel harasser.

The Imperial Crackdown seems very broken to me, as I bugged and stated in threads in the Test Center forum for the past 2 weeks.

There are missions in which you "deliver an item while hostiles attack you" in every profession. I still don't consider [Smuggler's Alliance] pilots to be Smugglers, nor 'Smuggling' - at least not any more than Rebel Pilots or Imperial Pilots might sometimes "smuggle", with a lower-case s - JFreeman - 10/6/04

OK, just a few comments here...

1. The whiners about the FPS/Ping, I have yet to experince these problems on Tarq, not even once, and I ve done alot of traveling so far today!

2.The crackdown-What crackdown! I went to coro to check on the ST's in the cantina, they spawned, and died 1 min later, from fairly crappy proffesions, I see this as a majour FP farm for the rebels, didnt think nehting of it at the time. Left and came back later, the so-called uber proffesions were there camping it, I just though that was wrong and started killing em off, as well as anyone else that was TEF'ed in the area, alot of griping and complaining later, Im still getting at least a 10 kill to 1 death ratio, and ppl start to turn on lightbulbs...."if im rebel and stand in the cantina, someone or something will probaby kill me IF im carrying illegal equipment!!!!"

3. I think the ST's need to be alot tougher in the cantinas, spawn more, or be a higher class ST like Dark ST's would be nice!

4.Quite ur whining, you knew this was coming people, waaa i got a tef! **edit**..u dont want a tef, dont carry illegal stuff its that easy!

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
...and making SWG a better place to be.

Saying that people join a faction to shoot NPCs is just banging your head against a wall. What do you think you are doing when joining a faction? You are choosing a side in a WAR. If you want to stay out of this WAR then don't choose a side.

Also, smugglers were given another skill ability that is not listed in the Underworld tree at all. People have to take our word for it when we tell them we have a percentage chance of avoiding scans when grouped with us. This needs to be added to the Underworld skill description boxes.

Um, it's the same as the current TEF system. Just like you do now for trading/healing an overt, attacking a factional NPC, or otherwise participating the GCW.

Now you will think a bit more before you travel with contraband, or walk around an Imperial city as a member of the Rebel faction.

If you don't want to be exposed to PvP ever, that's fine - go neutral. However, I think this is an excellent dimension they have added to the game for those that are actually here to participate in a war, and not simply what it was before - basicly a bunch of smacktards running around spouting garbage but not putting up a fight or being held accountable for their actions. If you are a Rebel and come to Theed - you are taking a risk, as it should be.

But I'm sure this will get nerfed, because anything that makes playing SWG harder than "Go Fish" illicits cries and whines from people who can't handle it.

It's all about choice - you are choosing to be a Rebel, and this is now a consequence of that. If you don't like it, you have several other options available to you - going neutral or becoming a member of the Imperial Government.

No one is forced into PvP - it'sa choice you make based on your playstyle and decisions you make regarding the GCW.

Finally, Rebels have something to fight against, to REBEL against, to make them fear the Empire - as it should be.

I got scanned 3 times in 6 minutes at the Emperor's Retreat while running missions. I'm an Imperial Colonel. A little excessive, no?

Also, there is STILL no Imperial Faction Recruiter at the Emperor's Retreat. Rebels can farm FP points there and it would be nice to kill them.

You will continue to get scanned, Colonel or not. The point is you won't be caught with contraband.

TH, the biggest failure of this update is the total lack of communcation with the players that will be affected by this.

All we wanted was a response from you guys, and you couldn't even give us the that. We're all really disapointed.
