Folks,

I have to step in, as Senior Producer, and take some responsibility here. The 1% decay removal was communicated to TH. We then revoked that change without telling him. He posted erroneous information to you, and it is my fault. I have apologized profusely to him, and now I am doing so to the community.

Here is why we revoked that change:

We want the GCW to be everything it can be. We want factional PvP to be fun and exciting. We understand that as players, you don't want the 1% decay. We think it is an important game mechanic in the right situations, but we want to remove it from factional battles.

Our plan is, in the next publish (NOT Imperial Crackdown, which is due soon, but the following publish) to have a factional perk that you can purchase with faction points. This perk will give you 24 hours of no decay on insured items for factional deaths.

Now as to your harsh words and attitude towards Thunderheart... I understand your frustration. But you have to know that every morning, the first person I talk to is TH, to find out about the current hot issues. He comes with us to almost all of our high-level meetings and represents "the voice of the players". He has tremendous passion for the game, and for you, and for his job. He fights for your issues, heart and soul, day in and day out. His job is to know your desires and represent them to us. And I think he does his job **edit** WELL.

It kills me to see how harsh some of the player population is towards him, because I know in no small part, we are responsible for any misinformation that you receive from him. No one is perfect, and things happen very rapidly from time to time. Miscommunications are going to occur. Don't kill the messenger. Please be forgiving, or direct your wrath towards a more guilty party (me).

Again, my deepest apologies for any misinformation regarding item decay from PvP. I take full responsibility. We love this game, as you do, and want it to be everything it can be. With your help, we will get there.

Best,

- Gary

Armor already decays, it doesn't need to decay on death.

Weapons decay, they don't, and do not need to decay on death.

Clothes, do not decay, and should decay on death.

Certain items (laser knives, auks, wuks etc) do not last long enough, and do not decay on use, they are destroyed on use, they should not be decayed on death nor insurable.

Other items (crafting tools) do not decay on use, that should decay on death.

This is my opinion, and the opinion of many of the people I play with.

Nothing stinks more than buying a suit of composite, and having it decay in 3 days because you decided to pvp. Not to mention, insurance costs are killer.

I dont have a stocked vendor cause it takes me too dang long too find resources worthy of even building armor. I am not gonna put out crap too sell, but I tell you dying and getting hit degrades my armor pretty dang fast on my combat toon and its driving me crazy cause I dont have the ability too make it equal too that anymore.

I like the combat decay, just not the armor death decay.

Now if you make resource collection easier and not a dang full time job maybe we might get something good going.

Dev's go read the artisan wish list its got some good ideas.

I posted this in another thread but whatever i'm bored so i'll repost..... Bring back the Insure or go on a Corpse run system but make sure we only leave a "bag" there and not a corpse because that would look odd , it's not so bad now because we have Speeders and player Clone centres so it won't take 30 mins to get our stuff back now.

p.s fix the warping i ALT TAB out today and warped 3000m into the sea (top left of map on Naboo for no reason).

The Devs have a lot of changes planned these days, but do they actually ever look at how they impact each other or issues already in game?

For example...The fact that they are adding the Imperial Crackdown...this will cause more fights as Rebels will randomly be made Overt...Add in the loss of Defense Stacking and the result is people dying more often (thanks to less defensive capabilities) which leads to decay of items and having to buy more insurance...And the money spent on insurance will mean less money spent with crafters...

Why would the Devs addthings to the game leading to more fights and at the same time reduce everyone's ability to gain defenses? All this will lead to is less PvP fights and players avoiding the big cities...Try currently going to a smaller non-player city and look in the Cantina or Med Center...empty...that's how the Big Cities are about to become...Sure Imps will be there...maybe some Nuetrals...But think currently how many Imps there are in the game currently compared to Rebels...it will take a long time for that to change...we will all suffer due to that...

One of the selling points of this game is the social factor...and the Devs seem intent on removing that factor from the game...

There are so many good suggestions for alternatives out there, but the Devs just seem to ignore them...like up Accuracy on professions to counter-act defense stacking...or remove the all decay when insured...something...But instead the Devs feel it looks good on paper, so it must be best for the game...and they don't seem to see what happens when you combine all the proposed changes...

Think about it...Less Defenses thanks to no defense stacking...Less Damage for some thanks to no DoT stacking...Forced Overt thanks to Imperial Crackdown leading to more dying leading to more insurance costs and decay...How does the average player win a fight with less defenses and less damage.

Would you all like me to call the whaaaaambulance or would you prefer some cheese with your wine?

Give me a break. I have never seen such a community of whiners like I see on these forums. This is a game and a very good game at that. You don't like it, then leave it. I come to these boards to read about issues, not to hear a bunch of crabby children crying about nerfs and such. If you have a concern post it in the appropriate forum, but enough with the personal attacks and whining.

First to the whining Smugglers who say the Imps now are getting free smuggler ability and make you worthlessbecause of the Crackdown:

1. I'm sorry, I must have missed the part where they now are able to slice weapons and armor.

2. I'm sorry, you must have missed the part where they worked to gain faction points to acquire a high rank.

3. Imps can only get themselves off, while the master smugglers are able to get their whole group a 95% chance of passing through untouched. None of this "Oh, everyone will just give their illegal stuff to a high ranking imp and they will smuggle it for them. I'm sorry, but I don't know of any imp that I would trade my stuff to for this purpose. As a master weaponsmith, I constantly have 10-20 sliced weapons on my person, not to mention the armor, etc... I don't know about you, but I barely have the room to carry my own stuff, much less all the stuff my group is carrying to get them through the check point.

For all the whining players complaining about decay in PvP and decay in general:

1. So what the Dev's made a mistake. Is this going to change your life so much that you have to rant and rave at Thunderheart. Give me a break.

2. As a crafter and as ariflemanI say decay is necessary so that the economy keeps flowing. Without decay many of the items made by crafters were going unreplaced because they stayed new forever. This decay is as good as any that I can see. You don't like it? Get better and don't die so much. Go out in groups and have the docs rez you. Other than armor, I don't see decay costing anyone much money. So you spend millions on armor. Big deal, what else are you going to do with your millions?

OK, now I'm done whining too...

The changes on TC to feed back from the chefs are an example of this and hopefully things will be fleshed out completely to the chef community's satisfactionso the new profession is a viable one. I don't think we are there yet though.

So after 7 months they finally addressed a profession that was almost useless. At this rate we might see a decent game sometime this next decade. The point is that there are more serious issues that have been in the game since the begining that are still not being addressed. Things such as contraband are of little importance when someone can still shoot me through a hill.

JustG

Again, you are speaking without saying a thing!

Please try and REALLY answer these 2 questions:

1. Why does Armor decay twice? Once from hits you take, and then again at dying!

2. If the plan was to instate this "faction pt cost" thing, then why wasn't that told to us earlier, and why did we have close to 4 times IN WRITING, that decay was gone when insured. (i.e. On TestCenter notes, Friday Feature, other forum post from devs)

Also, sorry to be blunt, but I (or probally many others) DO NOT ACCEPT YOUR APOLOGY! We are tired of words, we want action.

Presentation without demenstration is nothing but CONVERSATION!

I want to know why the information that was given to us for the "reasons" it was left out is contradictary to itself.

I also want to know why you don't just freakin listen to us and remove the decay.

You continually make things worse before making them better.

Stop screwing up the Star Wars name, stop destroying the Star Wars universe, alot of people hold these things sacred, and you're blatently pissing on them, while smiling and waving at us saying, "Nothing to see here!"

FYI Folks .. decay drives the buying and selling going on in the universe. If you never had a suit of armor go bad why would you replace it? This creates a demand, thus the great cycle of capitolism is born in which you the consumer need something and we the manufacturer provide the services.

Do you even play this game professor? No one is arguing that things should not decay. They are arguing that things that ALREADY decay from use, should not also decay from death. Weapons decay on use. They do not decay on death. Armor decays on use. It also decays on death. See the issue?

This sucks, it was one of the biggest thing i was looking forward too beause i would go back to PvP.

Oh well they wanted people to PvP and they were gonna have that happen with this fix, now its gonna be another publish and cost faction points to do it.

So rather, JustG, you can tell the difference between PvP and PvE deaths, you just decided to do something different. It is a shame as if we had REAL insurance, as in the 0%, PvP might actually happen.
