Thread: Crafting Critical Failure Rates

Personal experience:

created a run of 100 personal shield generators

I needed to make 7 schematics, and i received 2 experimentation crit fails, and an assembly crit fail. although the cost of these schematics is low, they simply do not reflect your 4.49% you listed.

*side note*

based off economys of scale, smiths in SWG have a monoply. Specificly armor and weapons smiths. There is no need to do anything but pass on the cost of any crit fail, or any other cost to the consumer, because of the demand curve of these items.

in a nut shell, the cost of these goods is a fraction of what they charge, price is dictated by demand, and that is an effect of the fact that their are too few smiths. The main reason there is a monoply is entry to the industry. Its nearly impossible for new smiths to compete with current smiths, and because of that, the established smiths can charge any price they want, and often do.

The main reason for this is specificly the weapon and armor experimentation tapes. If you truely want a player economy, then you would want competition as well. To do that you must eliminate the barriers for others to enter this industry, and to do that you must allow a more acceptable access for smiths to get +experimentation 20 to create goods.

75% of smiths that would become smiths, dont bother, because they know they can not compete. Others spend all their money to only sell next to nothing, because of this barrier. In the end the consumer suffers, because their is a huge shortage in supply, price is out of the roof, and quality tends to go down.

Update for Publish 7 (thats the next publish after the crackdown)

For Jedi Lightsaber Crafting, if a Jedi suffers a critical fail, the player will keep all the rare items (pearls, crystals, etc).

The only thing they will have to replace are the "regular" resources.

can we get this for every item in the game (such as RIS armors, weapons)?

it would be nice for armorsmiths to keep the rare loots and for weaponsmiths to keep the krayt tissues....

oh, can we have some dungeons with krayts and other lower end mobs to increase availability of crystals. 5Million for a pearl and the meatlump camping for crystals is getting out of control. (just log onto any server and check out all the meatlump camping at places like tyrenna)

YES!

Only have to use crystals for another month now.

Now just work on their uber-decay

To be fair, this should apply to all crafters...not just Jedi!

Then will you PLEASE consider changing DE so that when a droid crit-fails we don't lose all the components and sub-components being used .. you talk about architects losing out on crit fails, have any of you tried building a Binary Load Lifter and get a crit fail on the final build? Try telling me I didn't lose 30 minutes worth of crafting all the components and quite an excessive amount of resources, half of which had to come from factory crates.

Once again taking the bite out of crafting with this idea, I know most of these items are uber rare and very very expensive but come on, just giving them all back doesn't seem right. There should be a system where not as good of results are given by the pearl or whatever the second time around.
