When asked about holocrons being kept in the jedi system, TH responded with something similar to this but the post was taken down:
Yes and no.
No they most likely wont be in the new system. Yes you can keep your if you still have it. (Im keeping mine cause I save silly items
why was this yanked? Or will be given a badge and all holocrons turned to bits and pieces? Thanks for taking my shiney red wagon christmas present away, err holocron. Can we get a official response to wiether we should stop holo-grinding if we can't complete it before these changes go into effect?
BewdaBelly, i'm going to steal your quote for just a second so that I may make a few points. I want to try to keep my post as constructive as possible without sounding like i'm "whining", or "flaming" or whatever (although in a way, I am whining
)...but anyways..here goes:
"Yes and no.
No they most likely wont be in the new system. Yes you can keep yours if you still have it. (Im keeping mine cause I save silly items)"
Ok, now read that. Stop. Read it again.
Thunderheart refers to Holocrons as "silly items". Let's think about that for a second.........Ok, now on to my comments on the whole subject.
Everyone would love to play a Jedi. EVERYONE. All the people who say "Personally, I don't want a jedi..blah blah blah" is only (i'm assuming) saying that because they don't care for the Holocron grinding they have to do to play a Jedi.
I'll admit it, i've been grinding Holocrons. Only on my second profession, though. I'm not worried about "losing hard work"...Or whether I will be reimbersed for my time spent grinding professions. What i'm worried about is this:
Going by what Thunderheart said above...In order to become a Jedi (a.k.a. Unlock your FSCS), you must complete a quest (or something similar). Holocrons are/will be worthless. The aftermath? The game will be filled with Jedis. Plain and simple. This won't be the "Galactic Civil War", it will be "The Clone Wars". Unless they implement a system where it takes a really long time to complete, everywhere you go you will see a Jedi. As someone else posted..there will be Jedi only guilds. Guides will be put up detailing how to complete the quest, and everyone will follow it.
Then, either the devs will nerf Jedis until there is nothing left...or, because there are so many jedis in the game and all Jedis are alike...being a Jedi will be nothing more than a glorified Master Brawler. When too many Jedi get in the game....a server cap will be implemented, which makes it unfair. A server cap is unfair. I pay the same amount of money each month to play the game as that dude with the Jedi...why should he get one just because he read a quest guide before me..or has more time to invest in completing the quest?
And without permadeath, it's really gonna stink. Lose a skill? *shrugs*..just play your other Jedi on the other server you play on, or play your "main" character until you get it back, or until the week is up..or whatever.
To be honest, I can't think of a real reason to actually have put Jedi in the game to begin with (ESPECIALLY when it's set in the time period it's set in). Too many Jedis = Lots of angry people crying because they got killed by a 5th Generation lightsaber and it's no fair, and they have a Jedi and I don't, and Jedi are too powerful, and there's too many Jedi, etc.
I can't really think of a better way to become a Jedi....the current system isn't very good, and any new system isn't going to be very good either. Any way you cut it, Jedi are just a bad idea. To much room for grief, and whining, and loss of continuity, and upset people. It's fun to take out a Jedi with a group of commandos and bounty hunters and smugglers. It's just like every other Star Wars game to take out a Jedi with a group of other Jedis.
I realize nothing is set in stone, and details are extremely vague (but going by Thunderhearts above post, one can only assume we are talking about REPLACING holocrons with a quest...read it, then read it again)...this post is really just me detailing my thoughts and concerns on WHAT IF....
In a nutshell: Keep the Holo grinding and eventually you're going to have a server overrun by Jedis. Lose the Holo grinding for something else, and you're still going to have a server full of Jedi, if not sooner. Server full of Jedi = no fun anymore. No fun anymore = cancelled accounts. Cancelled accounts = Game failed.
I didn't think you could do anything asfoolish as when you all released the holocrons, but I was wrong. Releasing them may have been foolish, but changing the system they are part after people have put so much effort and time into using them is by far the most thoughtless move you all have made.
Just a question? Do you all just do things on a whim over there? Less than one month ago you give out free holocrons encouraging people to drop proffessions they love and go with the hologrind madness and now 3 weeks later you decide to change everything? Now I feel like an ass for dropping creature handling. It took me 3 months to bring up, I loved it, but i dropped itto pursue weaponsmithing as the holo instructed.I am one of the "casual gamers" you guys always said this game was for, and I bit on the holo thing. I always gave you all the benifit of the doubt, but its kind of hard to when you do things like this.
i think that it is the worst thing that they coud do
i thought the game woud follow the star wars movies close but no the rather want all players run around playing jedis. If players want to be jedis buy KNOTOR and play jedi!!! this game is getting futher away from what i expectet and that sux. I thought the game woud be like an roleplaying ala everquest but the game is looking more nad more like a basic shoot em up game.
The last thing i want to see in the game is jedis running around everywhere, andat the time wherethe empire takestotal control of the univers
No they most likely wont be in the new system. Yes you can keep yours if you still have it. (Im keeping mine cause I save silly items)"

Any change to how a force sensitive slot is opened after the time i have put into the current system = cancelled account.
My brother and I are seriously considering this too.
He's a hardcore player (12 mastered) and I'm a casual (2 mastered). Both of us hate the change.
I want clarification on this subject of the intact or even disabled old system, if not... say goodbye to 40+ accounts that ive talked to today. Do you care about that?
All we want is clarification. Is that too hard to ask for?
I dont wanna know HOW to do the new system, i dont want to flame, i dont want to know anything but SHOULD I STOP GRINDING and go back to what i was before,... which was what i WANTED to be.
How are you gonna compensate me for that??
This is a bad idea... very bad. Regardless of what your masses have seem to said to you. Then again, it only sounds bad because youre not telling us anything about if the holo system stays. If not, why the he|| did you give us holos 3 weeks ago??? Whos in charge there? George the Animal Steel???
Not the changes, but the responses to them.
How many of you idiots complaining about this actually ARE Jedi? Not many I bet.
How many of you idiots have TOTALLY and ABSOLUTELY misread the changes? At least a few of you, from what I have read.
Jedi everywhere? 1. that's jumping to conclusions, and 2. it aint gonna happen.
Do you people have ANY idea how hard it is to go up a skill box as a Jedi??? DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW HARD IT IS TO GET MILLIONS OF JEDI EXP AT THE RATE OF COMBAT EXP??? Not to mention that, in the effort of getting said exp, you are constantly in danger of being spotted and torn apart?
This is one of the smartest things the devs have done.
Ask yourself, what point is it to become a Jedi after mindless grinding just to mindlessly grind some more so you can go into PvP, be killed immediately, then start over from
scratch??
HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT MAKES SENSE OR IS A GOOD THING???!
At least Jedi will be ABLE to PvP after this. And what the hell is so bad about Jedi everywhere? (not that is will happen) I mean, WE are effecting the storyline. Why would people be Imperials if they knew they *had* to lose in order to satisfy the continuity crackpots out there? That's the point, WE ARE CHANGING THE STORY. THIS IS NOT A NEW HOPE, THIS IS NOT EMPIRE STRIKES BACK! This is a GAME so designed to provide us with ENJOYEMENT, NOT a freaking movie God Damnit!
Mob rules... God I hate them... This is why our forefathers thoughtfully planned ahead and made it so we don't actually vote for the president. I swear you people jump on every **edit** wagon you see, without any information about the situation whatsoever.
