Thread: Jedi Revamp Phase I

Maybe those questions can be answered in the next Jedi archive ?

1> How is the Jedi revamp already considering the HAM revamp ?

Will saber specials still cost force after revamp?

How will the species be balanced for the Jedi class eventually?

(situation now is that species that can have high main HAM and recovery are the best, other secondaries are worhtless.)

Will the Human race get new boundaries for secondary stat after HAM revamp ?

Planning its char is part of the fun, but if the planning integrate bugs or miss features (as the secondaries not limited for human, which I was not aware it was a bug !) then it can be very frustrating when you have already level your Jedi.

Also for exemple if saber get experimentation line, will the Human benefit the experimentation bonus ?

2> In patch 9 or 10, will the people who have already unlock got Force sensitive skill with the main char (as it is plan post patch 9/10)?

or will they just have their old Jedi but likely boosted since it was said it will remain Jedi (and the new path somehow consider to have an hybrid state, hybrid state until 2 slots and full jedi...) ?

3> Somehow I see that it could be reversing if unlocking pre or post patch, as the current Jedi will be Jedi and the main consider as an extra slot, but post patch the main get the path to Jedi but eventually unlock for a second slot, which can also go to Jedi (but won t unlock a slot anymore). Is it something like this ? Then will we have to work out the quest again to enable sensitivity with pre patch 9/10 main char ?

4> Having made the Jedi the same species has his main can be frustrated if the main can become a Jedi "easily" after revamp. How easy/hard will it be to get sensitivity for its main char for those who have unlock pre patch ?

(that s a double check question)

I m very interrested in those question since the answer of those would make me consider for a reroll of my Jedi.

I would lose many skills and sabers BUT I would really consider it to make the Jedi that would fit the most in the new system.which lead to my last question :

5> What result will have to reroll/delete a Jedi after revamp ?

Will it be possible, what make you lose the sensitivity/Jedi unlock after revamp ?

I think does question are worth a shot,

Thanks in advance

I read the whole 22 pages of this thread, and found the answer to my 4th question, so here are the first 3 questions and a new 4th question:

I want to clarify some dates and facts, as they are quite confusing up to this point:

1. After pub 9 is released, will there be more jedis granted with the current profession grinding system? Or there will be a period of no-new-Jedi until pub 10 is released?

2. When will pub 9 going to be released?

3. When is the force sensitive going to happen to our main character ? Pub 9 or Pub 10?

4. Assuming answer to question 1 is pub 9 ends new jedi grant, then say I finish 32 professions before pub 10, will I be put at the end of the new jedi quest system? or somewhere in the middle of the new quest process.

Based on the answers I will decide if Im going to go back to DAOC new expansion or stay in this manipulative MMOROG, or try WOW III when it comes out. I just feelwe players, IE CUSTOMERS OF SOEare manupulated through out the entire game life to generate more cash and longer subscription time for SOE, but we are not treated with any respect as their customers. This start to feel like a matrix to me.

The good thing is this is just a game for entertainment, so when its become too frustrating, its very easy to walk out, especially when there are 2-3 great games out there already.

Late night thoughts:

New quest system is more time consuming --> longer subscription time for SOE

You cannot unlock the 2nd account until Jedi Knight, but your jedi needs money to support --> multiple accounts per player --> more revenue for SOE

PvP to advance Jedi --> Even bigger time and money sink to occupy you while other competingon-line gamesare releasedthis summer/fall

I have to say, SOE business people are very very cleaver. Please stop flaming the devs, they are working their ass off to deliver what the business people wants,

As a business person myself,I seenothing wrongwith SOE wanting to retain and grow their customer base, but what does SOEoffer in return totheir customers will determin iftheir effort is a wishful thinking or an effective strategy.

I love the SW saga, and I think this game has its potential. Will SOE make this game as memorible as the original Star War movies, or it will make us SW fans wish someone else to develope a better SW based game?

It will all depend on how they treat their customers, that's one unchanging rule of business.

Greetings,

This is my first post in this forum, and I do not know if someone will read this or not. But I will try.
I read a lot of messages about jedi, the new system, and I have some opinion about this.
I do not know how will work the new system, but I think that this new quests system could be used in some others professions too.

A nice thing to do, will be a Super Bounty Hunter elite profession, something like the Jedi,
The developers could create a Super Bounty Hunter system with a lot of quests and when you finish all them you could receive a message:

"You begin to feel attuned with the power of the Super Bounty Hunters. Your Super Elite Bounty Hunter Class has been unlocked"

So you get a special professions that give new skills like Flame Throwers, Rocket Launchers, and some other special abilities like Rocket Pack Attack, Double Pistols, etc...

This could be to the others profession too, a Special Commando Profession, and who knows a Night Sister Profession option for the human females force sensitive, or a Monk of Shimura (The Art of Ka) for the TKA as a super elite option.

Another thing that I think that could change is the Jedis with Full Plate, I never saw a jedi using full armor in the movies, they could create a penalty for armor use but when the jedi is going to get new level his defense will become better.
Personally I do not thing nice jedis with armor, jedi clothes has more fun.

Okay, publish 9 changes the structure of Jedi. Not how you get there. It only affects current Jedi. That being said, here are answers to your questions based on Dev posts that I have read over the last few weeks. I'm not going to link to all of them, becauseI don't remember where every post is, and frankly, it's not my job to do your research:

  1. You can continue to hologrind and open up a Jedi slot up until publish 10.

  2. The devs plan to release a major publish every 6 weeks or so. So, Publish 8 was... what... About a week ago? That means you have about 5 weeks until Publish 9, 11 weeks until Publish 10 and the end of hologrinding. Give or take.

  3. Publish 10

  4. Not applicable, because you can continue to grind until publish 10.

One thing for everyone to keep in mind... You may be better off waiting until publish 10 and going through the portion of the Jedi quests that remains for you. Remember, if you open your FS slot through hologrinding, your character can only bea Jedi. If you open your second slot through the Jedi quests, you can either develop your second slot as a Jedi, or become any other profession. There hasn't been any specificially stated by the devs (that I have seen) that says that pre-existing Jedi slots will be able to be reverted back to regular characters after Publish 10.

As for this part of your post, guess what... That's business, bud. Believe me, the devs of DAOC or WOW III aren't on somealtruistic journey to make gaming a better place to be. Everything they do is designed to generate more cash and longer subscription times for the company that they work for. Now, I doubt there is a group of high-level devs meeting in a board room somewhere rubbing their hands together and saying, "Okay, we must find a new way to maniupulate these suckers into staying in this game longer! Muahahahaha!" They try to make the game as good as it can be, and satisfy as many people as possible, in order to keep people playing. There's nothing sinister about that, as you would seem to imply.

so wait a sec..... u can master a proffesion and be a jedi.... does that mean we will be seeing jedi /weaponsmiths with lightsabers that have insane stats compared to the current jedis?

Personally, I think it's a REALLY bad idea to force players to choose between getting the coolest profession in the game but surrendering all the skills you've spent MONTHS to aquire and getting a petiful fraction of Jedi but still keeping the professions you chose to mainly play SWG through as.

I don't want to sacrafice my 10 month-old character for Jedi then have to REGRIND a new character to the status of my old one!

The second slot should be opened upon gaining Force Sensitivity and the only character that can be created on it is a Jedi character, just like the current system.

Just my 2 credits.

No, I never said that.

/sigh

I don't know how to make this any more clear.

You will either be able to turn your character into a Jedi or develop it as a regular profession.

This applies to both slots. The exact timing of when the second slot is opened hasn't been revealed, but it has been stated that finishing the Jedi quests is the/one prerequisite. So it will either open upon completion of the quests, or at some point after that.

In other words, yes... You either have to give up all the skills you have invested in your initial character to become a Jedi and grind your new second character up the professions that you want your "normal" character to have (if you choose to have one), or you can leave your initial character as is and move your new (second, opened, etc) character up the Jedi tree. Or, you can move both up the Jedi tree. Or neither one.

So that there's no confusion here... I'll try to make it very clear. Again, this is all information that has been posted multiple times by members of the Dev team:

The second slot is opened either upon completion of the Jedi quests or at some point after. Either character can be developed into a Jedi. Or you can choose to develop both into a Jedi. Or you can choose to develop both into non-Jedi professions. The choice is yours.

And for further clarification, all chars will have some level of force sensitivity. Although it hasn't been explicitly stated, it can be assumed that you will not be able to Master a profession and still become a full-fledged saber-wielding Jedi. Talk about balance issues.

What I DO want is for you to do SOMETHING to get the freaking, masses of Mindless, AFK, Spamming, Holo Grinders OUTTTTT of our cantinas so that those of us who spent our entire careeers learning to be Entertainers can go BACK to WORK without being surrounded and overwhelmed by AFK, Spam Zombies.

Have you TRIED having a public conversation in a Cantina ANYWHERE in the galaxy??????

Have you Tried asking a Spamming Zombie POLITELY to stop? Want a new definition of Obscenity and Rudeness?? Try it sometime. The responses you get will Definitely expand your vocabulary of obscenities!!!! I grew up on Army bases until I was 20 years old. Most of the responses one gets to a POLITE and COURTEOUS request to stop spamming so that the rest of us can have a Public Conversation would make a Soldier or Sailor blush with embarassment.

Ahh, the beauty of the /addignore command. Try it. If you add all the afk spammers onto your ignore list, it makes it real easy to have a public conversation.

Damn. My account expires in two weeks, and I must admit, I did dabble into the brain busting, macro infested world of hologrinding for a bit. After mastering a mere 8 professions, i gave up. I have tried making other characters on different servers, but it is no fun. I love my trandoshan MC, and my graul tank has elevated me to a most formidable foe of the rebellion. I have pretty much been everywhere and seen everything. Collected a RIS helmet, and a menagerie of loot that people drool over when they enter my own PA hall palace.

Yet, I sit patiently for this jedi revamp, why? Tounlock a jedi slotwas my goal, as probably the majority of all who play this game. I have been here since the begining, but this has been the only time I have actually considered not returning. After surviving devastating nerf's, the one sided GCW, bugs that would cripple a lesser game, yet, somehow, SOE has managed to keep me in their grasp.

I just hope that the jedi revamp breathes new life into this game. For me, it will be the only reason to stay. For there is nothing more for me to do now. I spend my days trolling through the forums, hoping for a glimpse of what's to come. Helping out n00b'sters begging for credits and freebies at the starports. What I wished to add was that the Dev team has tried to please everyone, but that is impossible. The majority of us want jedi, so come on, just bring it to us.

I do not want a handout, but a clear path to our goal is what we want. No more silent dooping, and what not. Sorry about the ranting, but I just feel frustrated that my favorite game for the past ten months has been ignored by their creators, and the minimal, powergaming community has been the one to influence the dev's decisions.

**edit** it all! It is late, my eyeballs hurt, and I just want.......a clear cut answer for once.

Greeting Developers of the greatest game i have ever played. I have some ideasfor the upcomming " JEDI REVAMP " I really hope you take the time to read these emails that are sent into and not disreguarded as they are in the holocron ingame and along with the CSR replies that dont even relate to what was asked.

Lightsaber Damage

Im sure you have heard all about sabers doing kinetic. Just thought i would agree with this as being wrong. They have been known for being able to slice through a blast door but yet they get 90% blocked from a nice composite set of armor. Sabers should be able to cut right through this armor. The only armor that should have the resist to a saber is one that only a Master Bounty Hunter can equipt. Now i know they can track before they are master so maybe make it so they can equipt certian peices of it after gaining certian skill boxes. Kinda like a certification as you have for weapons.

Bounty Hunter Tracking Droids

Bounty Hunter Tracking Droids should be visible to a Jedi that the BH has the mission on. With that they should also be able to be distroyed by the Jedi. A way to do this that would make it fair is make the driod not show up on the radar but still targetable if a Jedi see's it or just happens to lock on it with autotarget. If the Jedi doesnt see it then he gets tracked but if he destroys it the BH will have to launch another driod and start the tracking process again. This gives the Jedi a chance to move. I mean come on a Jedi would know if he / she was being stalked right?

Jedi Clothing

This i expected to already be in place in the game for Jedi. However it is not. How many Jedi was wearing armor in any of he movies? 1 and it was only a helmet for Vador. None of the other Jedi used any armor what so ever. They wear there own unique clothing. With this inmind they should be able to craft there own look making it somewhat unique. Also they should be able to pick a few mods to place in them since jedi have no resists to anything. Now also i think that there should be certian clothing only a light can make / wear , aswell as a dark. And of course only FS should be able to wear these.

Pearls / Crystals

These should have another attribute to them. Force regeneration.

Terrain Negotiation

Jedi should have equal to a scout with the first box with terrian negotiation.

Jedi Defence

Im sure you have heard alot of people talking about this so i wont go to far into detail. But we was out hunting with 4 total Jedi 2 of which was Padawan. A opposite faction BH had a mission on one of us and took his shot. ONE BH killed ever last one of the Jedi becuase of No defence / saber type damage ( kinectic ) and because you have granted the new geo pistol to the game without even thinking of what this would do to Jedi. I was also in a major PVP battle. ( I am dark now ) we had three 4,4,4,4 guardians and a few dark apprentices. 2 BH / pistoleers took us all down in under a minute! nothing more to say about this but BS? ya

BH Missions

I propose that a BH suffers some kind of a loss as the Jedi do when they are slain! ( Besides just loosing there mission )

Lightsabers!!!!

Light sabers should be able to be TWEAKED but the maker. Jedi as there knowledge increases with the force and they make there own weapons right? Well then dont you think they would know how to tweak them to do more damage? / speed? In the movies luke started with his fathers old training saber but in time made a vey powerful saber in " Return of the Jedi " They should be able to construct higher damage sabers the higher up they are.

Jedi Blocking

Blocking should have been amost mastered by the time they reach padawan. One of the 1st thing they learn is how to block. I think that the driod they used for this should be put in the game and that Jedi can advance there blocking skill as its own leveling process. These should be able to be used in a private house without getting a teff. This would make it so that it was completly upto the Jedi as to how well he was able to block.

Jedi special moves

Jedi can jump, twist , spin, flip, ect during an attack or when trying to evade someone. I propose that something be put in place like this. Also the 2 handed moves that are part of apprentice are the same as the ones from heavy swords? This is suppose to be a Jedi not a wannabe swordsman. Jedi's moves should not look or do anything like any of the regular professions.

Ok thats all i can think of right now ill keep in tough thank you for your time.
