Thread: Should Force Sensitivity be a known path or a mysterious one? (II)

I think, this whole thread is an eyewash.

Think about it. They have about 3-4 weeksuntil the publish. If they have to start to code the whole thing just now, they will never get it finished in 4 weeks.

I do not believe, that they already have 2 different systems done, like somebody mentioned, because it would be the double work and ittakes too much effort.

I think, they have nothing and if they do it in 4 weeks, it will be a crap, whether if known or unknown.

I would say, it will be unknown (no matter, what we say), because, if it is unknown,we will never see the crappy, thinkered system behind it and they will get another few months to work on it.

They did it already a couple of times, they will do it again...

The way to become a Jedi should be mysterious, like the old system before the devs announcement on Christmas. The last devs announcement has cause hologrind and Jedi-wanabees , it would be bad to see that again. But maybe devs would like to do SWG a game of roxxors who are players that will leave SWG after another roxxor game like WoW and EQ2 will come.

Devs get two choices : fast game and fast end, or long / patient game, with StarWars fans who will stay for a really long period. Mystery in SWG has disappeared, why not doing some again ?

KNOWN...

I have been playing the guessing game for how many months now? If you make me go through that crap again..im canceling both of my accounts.. and 3 of my brothers (2 of them) accounts... This is getting rediculous... make it harder...dont freaking make it unknown...AGAIN.

Another alternative you could do, make the new quests known so everybody can shoot through them in a couple of weeks and read how to do it on some forum or website before its even left test center, so all those who want to can play Jedi Knight online.

Then set up a new server cluster, where no jedi can be unlocked, and no jedi can be transfered across to, so everybody else whos interested in playing SWG can get on and enjoy the galactic civil war, crafting and all the other elements that make up the game they bought and have been enjoying for x amount of months.

What's the point of spending all this time and money to change the system from a mysterious one to another mysterious one? The whole concept of holding a character back from the general population makes no sense anyway. Jedi should be just another class that can be played from the beginning with your first set of boxes being force sensitive boxes.

I changed my mind from the last time I posted.

If Jedi are in the game then they are in the game.

What about a 11 year old kid who wants to play as a jedi but isnt smart enough to figure out a crazy scheme (and dont tell him to go play KOTOR, because SWG has jedi in it as playable characters and thats it.)

So let everyone be a Jedi!! Well...

1. That will never happen even in the current F'ed up system because half the player base could care less about picking up a gun much less a lightsaber. (crafters/entertainers)

2. As long as you have some GAWD DARN rules for Jedi and their ridiculous behavior, I think jedi will get thinned out by their own stupidity.

3. Make death matter! If a Jedi ignites a lightsaber in public...they become overt to ALL FACTIONS. And then when they die, they lose like 2 weeks worth of whatever they worked on AND they lose their lightsaber.

They are supposed to be in hiding from DARTH VADER! remember him? Killed all the Jedi?

So in conclusion. Let EVERYONE become force sensitive. BUT!!! (this is the most important part) have serious reprocussions for acting like an unlawful hooligan in the Empire controlled galaxy.

Kid, I've flown from one side of this galaxy to the other. I've
seen a lot of strange stuff, but I've never seen anything to make me
believe there's one all-powerful force controlling everything. There's
no mystical energy field that controls my destiny.

Well with me posting this so far down the line ... I am sure it won't get any attention .... I say make it known ... you make it secret and I am done ( I know everyone says that ) . Personally think you should have been smarter and made it time limited ... like make it only able to have a jedi once you have had an active account for 6 months plus and then do the quest

Been playing since mid Oct. and started as a crafter ( weaponsmith ) and now have become active in GCW and pvp a lot ( till the jedi knights are owning the scene .... which I am sure will be fixed ) ... my goal since Jan was to get a jedi and if anyone expects me to spend another 30 dollars a month ( 2 accounts ) on finding out how to unlock ( probably take 3-4 months longer ) .. you are nuts ...Till this post I had plans on getting Jump to light ..... which is on hold to see which path Devs take

We all need to make decisions .... and when one is made ... expect to see the reactions take effect ( thou you know what path I will take )

Thanks for your time

Make it a known path but with quests that would take the place of grinding professions. Becoming a Jedi should be tough, but it should be easy to be force sensitive.Gaining FS xpshould take a lot of time, kinda like gaining faction points.

It should be proffesion orientated. The harder some one must push them selves as a Master of an Elite Proffession the more they need to tap into the force, So the combat classes need to go thru the planets saving people killing enemies, hard enemies, like the knight trials. But please no graul spawns please.
Crafters canmust simply go to a location and help somoneby creating a random item from schematics npc's will give you.\

I think the start to open your Force Sensetive Quest should be known. I like the Idea of player having to go to Dantoonie, Dathomir, Endor & Yavin4 meeting a Jedi NPC (Someone like Luke, Yoda, Ben or another Master Jedi who escape detections from the empire). Just like the Hermit Quest have them prove there worth by doing quest for him to measure his Force Sensetivity (SP?)

This NPC will start you on the player long and hard path (Not as Hard as the Jedi Trials)to opening your FS slot. I agree with many it should be story based and it should also take into account of the Players Professions.

A crafter Medic or Dancer will not be able to compete with a combat profession in a search and kill mission.

I really like the Hermit quest the way it worked. (All except the Mark of Intellect hasn't work since Open weekend of Patch 9.)

The quest should actually be mysterious the place where you recieve your quest should not.

Jedi Robes
Long awaited are the Jedi robes! Gone will be the days of Jedi running about in armor. The Jedi robe will provide a hidden toughness value that will protect the Jedi, similar to armor, but providing more of a Jedi feel. -TH Jedi archive II

Do not make it require 20 people to become force sensitive. Please I am begging you . This has to be able to be soloed for once. Please make jedi force sensitivity a solo mission for the love of god

let it be a known path. but dont go overboard with it and make it ridiculously hard requiring 3 groups of 20 to complete it. thats not much of a spiritual path to the force. i agree it should be somewhat solo'able. make it a memorable experience. not one thats like "yea i remember when i unlocked my char when my entire guild with infinite wealth helped me slaughter 500 enraged rancors riding ancient krayts in a lava pit." thats not cool when some people try to be the lone wolf type. or even people who arent in a large pa or know a lot of people.

Are you serious? Let me understand this one:
  • Before Christmas, no one knew exactly how to open their FSCS. Speculation was rife throughout the community. Everything from the broken Hero of Tatooine quests to profession grinding was considered as a theory. Folks focused on developing characters, participating in the GCW, and so on.
  • After Christmas, the game was severely harmed through an obviously ill-considered decision to circulate Holocrons. Whether it was to "improve" game morale or to keep customer numbers up, the effects were obvious - hologrinding. You had to grind anywhere from 5-10 professions to open it. This at least gave folks some hope, but ensured that those who signed up for roleplaying hadn't a chance in heck. You had to be a power gamer to open the slot. This destroyed the GCW (everyone's too busy grinding to fight a war), commerce (everyone's too busy grinding to make stuff), and roleplaying (this week, I'm a tailor/BE, but next week, I'm a bounty hunter.)
  • Sometime after February, after (I guess) too many power gamers had opened their slots, the number of professions required went through the roof - some folks had to grind all 32 professions to open theirs. Still, quite a few folks went through with it because that was the only way to get an FSCS.Left a lot of users out in the cold, though. By this time, battlefields are a distant memory, single combat is determined by who has the best armor and food, and group combat by who has the best riflemen, combat medics, and pets. Jedi are in hiding, using whatever means possible to grind experience and get up through Jedi ranks as quickly as humanly possible. Roleplaying has all but disappeared, despite the best efforts of some.
  • Before Publish 9, you announced that Publish 10 would provide a quest-based system for opening a FSCS slot. Many folks stopped hologrinding, as it was no longer necessary to destroy your character weekly or daily in order to get a FSCS slot. Anyone still hologrinding can open their slot, but can't roll up a Jedi before Publish 10. The hope is that folks will once again return to real roleplaying and more social activities, like single & group combat. Instead, Jedi are now running around ganking anyone who even dares to go overt. Neutral Jedi exist. Ethics for those who attained Jedi are optional.
And now, you're saying you'd like to consider obfuscating the path? With all due respect, does the phrase "closing the barn doors after the cows have left" hold any meaning for you?
The path to opening an FSCS slot should remain known. You've rewarded power gamers with enough - how about throwing a bone to the rest of us? You know, the "casual gamers" for whom it was told that a year or so would be enough to open an FSCS? The ones who were told that "anyone" can open a slot?

Ditto.

As a casual gamer who has no hopes of ever unlocking because I don't have the time to be a Jedi, throw me a bone, so if I get a free night (HAH! Free!) I can choose to take a step in this quest. I would add a word of caution, just from what I've seen in the past (I've been playing since September) please do not make it unreasonably difficult nor a joke. (fun example: the original Nova Troopers, and the nerfed ones)...

I think this guy had a pretty realistic synopsis put together. I would take a look through it and give serious thought to his barn analogy...which, BTW had me laughing for a few minutes
