Thread: On Mandalorian Armor
My go on all this......
I think you should go through the dungeon with your group and your group only like the corvette dungeon. You guys get a key to an armor room or sumthin where befor you enter is a very large and hard creature......inside spawns as many suits of armor is needed for you/your group. An you can only get armor once, but you can do the HARD dungeon as many times as you want.....
I want to bring up the fact that Jango Fett would have never been a Master Bounty Hunter, maybe a Master Pistoleer / Bounty Hunter 4/0/4/0, but not a Master Bounty Hunter. Read the Jango Fett comic (I think it's in graphic novel form, even better
Here's what I think Mandalorian Armour should be like
1. Mandalorians Armour should only be able to be worn by masters of any combat professions (Smugglers? combat profession? yes, no?). Just so we don't have novice marksmen running about in uber armour (composite armour......).
2. It should have to be made to fit a certain character, that character should be the only one that can wear that armour.
3. It should not be repairable by anyone but a Master Armoursmith, it's suppose to be very high end armour and I could never see a average "joe" repairing such a master piece of protection with a kit he got from the corner store. Maybe even have a special repair kit made for it that's very hard to make.
4. Each suit should be unique just as the real Mandalorian Armor was, say 30 different colours available, 3 colours on each set of armour that would be
125000 - 1 = 124999 combinations
(We can't have a Boba Fett clone can we
This would also help avoid the current "My 1337 uber comp armour of DoOm is red/black" situation (come on people, be original!).
5. High resist against Lightsabers, see one of the above posts about Vader and Boba.
That's about it... might add more.
Don't make it available to anyone. Just as names can not mimic those of the movies (and the work arounds removed when reported), we shouldn't see anyone else in Mandalorian except Fett. Put new armor in if you want, but not this. Continuity being screwed as it is isn't an excuse to send it careening farther down into the pit by putting every BH into the armor.
Making it uber rare/hard/cert'd to get just ticks people off and gets them crying "elitism" because they can't fall back on a large group of people that will guarantee them being able to get the armor.
Nope, leave it out of the game completly except, maybe, as a display set that can be put in a house....
Boba Fett was known as a jedi killer?? Didn't ever hear of that before now... but I'm not all knowing either. I got an idea while posting on another topic for a way to get mandolorian armor that people might like more than killing Death watch guys and looting it...
How about instead of killing Death Watch Mandolorians... you join them? So instead of killing them and stealing it, you earn it through a long series of quests proving your skill, loyalty etc and eventually earning full membership which is ultamately rewarded with a suit of the armor.
These quests should defintely be really really hard, and there should be a long series of them too. Like missions assigned from the Death Watch to go kill certain high difficulty targets. Really hard enemies that you usually can't solo, like dathamir arch witches... also throw in several missions that include some good trivia too so there's a feeling of a story and actually becoming part of the death watch. Maybe death watch faction could be a part of the requirements.
Eventually after a long long road of rising through the ranks about to get full membership, one of the last requirements is you have to kill a player jedi (this would obviously only make sense if player jedi were fixed and somewhat comparable to all the NPC force users out there). Killing a player jedi that was actually tough would be a good accomplishment, because its unique from killing NPC enemies and should be alot tougher. Assuming player jedi had the same effectiveness as NPC jedi, players would be harder to kill because they have the advantage of being able to think and respond, group and run away. I know at the moment it isn't, but ideally, killing a player jedi SHOULD be the hardest thing to do in the game. Sothen after killing the player jedi, the death watch could reward you with a peice of mandolorian armor, or maybe a few peices. The game should have a counter, and a standard order for giving them out, so after you kill a set number of jedi, say 3 or 4, you would finally have the full suit, and you'd be a full fledged member of the Death Watch. This quest shouldn't be repeatable, so that way you can't sell your armor and ever be able to get another one. Since you can only ever get one suit, the max condition probably shouldn't ever get reduced no matter how many times you repair it. So the armor can get damaged and degraded, but you can always get it repaired back up to full.
This should statisfy people's image about the armor right? Any among the most elite fighters could attempt membership, (lots of people said mandolorians weren't just BH) but only the best, and probably still needing alot of help from friends could hope to complete the quest for membership. (Face it, if you can finish a quest solo its too easy and everyone can do it). So that should keep the number of people who have it lower, but still allow the very determined to work toward it.
If anyone can think of a reason why this idea wouldn't work, please post. (Remember, its dependant on player jedi being fixed so that they're on par with the NPC dark jedi apprentices, knights, masters etc..)
