Bear in mind that if they cater to hardcore players and leave the casual players behind -- including Rebels who are not interested in forced PvE, which this patch could lead to a lot of -- then they'll lose customers.

I'm up for more "Star Wars" flavor, but not to the extent that it takes the fun out of it. And you need the casual players to keep your servers running.

Joining a side in a war should result in that person going into a conflict even if he wants it or not. Don't wanna fight? Then why the hell join a side? Go neutral.

Okay now that I berated the dev's in one thread I need to say thanks for listening and changing the crackdown like you have. I like the changes to overt and covert imps, and think it is more fitting than before. I especially like how it encourages us to purchase more faction rank. Good move.

Wow, i think the changes made are really true to the way it would be in RL. I mean, WHO would walk up to their own guy, that is fighting on their side and say... "Oh, your carrying a modified weapon and using it against rebels. You should be ashamed, i'm writing you up to the emperor!" Seriously, the empire should be PROUD of the members using the faster weapons, and if drugs make you stronger against the rebellion, i'm sure the emperor would be proud of those who would go to such measures just to stop a rebel.

This is a GREAT change and my hat goes off to you guys in the development of it.

/salute

Also, i have to ask.... exactly how high is a high ranking officer? I mean, does the rank determine if we get scanned at all or does the higher rank = a greater percentage of not getting scanned like smuggler? I mean either way, it makes smugglers a lot more usefull in the game

ThunderHeart - Runesabre - some Dev - please youneed to go read the Smuggler Boards - Please.

I think most of the Smugglers would like to see this changed before you patch. There's a simple thing to do - which if you still go through with your plans - will only change things a little - but if you would just not search for contraband - ATM - and only search for Rebels - it will give you time to respond to the Smuggler Community's concerns. As you can see by the "In Concept" thread - we are one of your most vocal communities - if not the MOST vocal.

We are really a nice bunch of scoundrels - once you get to know us.

I am on my knees - begging - just take a moment. Please.

No one is forced to pvp, just dont have illegal goods with you, come on, its not really like you actually "need" sliced stuff or spices, you just "want" them.. \

Bull. You want to survive PvE and succeed you better have muon and sliced guns. Devs have made it so that if you want to tackle anything of note you best have these items or die in about 2 seconds.

As a nuetral player, I supply goods and services to the public regardless of faction. I spend 99% of my time trying to get the stuff needed to keep people stocked with goods. I have no time for the war, nor do I have interest since this is the lamest PvP game aside from Diablo 2. I spent 3 months doin PvP, and after the last lame TEF war bull I vowed never to play it again. I do not play broke things, it's just frustrating.

Now they will initiate fines for items that are 100% needed to get the job done for nuetrals.

I will pay fine, if gives me option to fight....I will kill as many Imps as I can before I die.

If it auto docks me the fine, with no choice. Then I will just increase my merchandise I sell to compensate for these losses.

There is no nuetral after this. It is called 'the oppressed' since we have no choice in the matter.

Obviously Nuetral players are not respected and their opinions are not listened to after reading this thread.

Always please the PvPers first should be SOE's motto. I guess only people left in this game is them. Booo!

GCW does not equal PvP....PvP happens within the GCW because the GCW is also battlefields, destroy missions, NPC missions. When I am not participating in the GCW by harvesting meat for a friend doctor or just regular cash missions on Dantooine or Dathomir or wherever, then I chose to not actively participate in it.

What part don't you people understand? I am within my rights according to the manual to actively participate in PvP and the GCW, which I do, and I am within my rights to do something else and not participate in it and not be forced to PvP.

Have a nice day.

Wow, the Empire oppressing the masses?!? What a concept!

And here I thought this was a Star Wars game!

Congratulations, you've just provided the best argument for doing things the way TH proposed them.

Ah, nice to see TH has time to make a lame joke in the Quid Comic thread but yet doesn't have time to post a simple answer to a vital question: As a Covert Rebel, does being caught with contraband mean one receives a TEF or is that Rebel forced into Overt status?

If you have time to post a joke, you should have ample time to DO YOUR JOB.

"Covert scanners are stationary, and easily avoidable. I had my assurances directly from Holo on this when they first implented them. Thus with them, we still have control of when and where we incur a TEF and become subject to PvP.

With these random scannings in the Crackdown changing us to Overt, this all changes and we have no control of when we get TEFs.

This is not acceptable."

Too bad - accept it or quit the Rebellion. What you are saying is that you want to be part of an underground resistance movement, but carry no risk of exposure. That's what's unacceptable.

Fact is, covert faction scanners can be anywhere. If there is a house or something between you and it, you'll be scanned before you even see it.

You're a soldier in a civil war - even if you are a chef or other non-combatant you are still aiding and abetting. As such, you're subject to being shot by government troops.

If you're not totally committed to your faction, then you can be neutral and never have to worry about TEFs or involuntary PvP.

What's so hard to understand about that?

Whats so hard to understand, that I can be commited to a Faction, but not PvP.

PvP is a playstyle that is liked only by a MINORITY of players, if you remember the poll taken by the Devs.

By forcing those that prefer PvE outa the GCW with this "Crackdown", they are forcing the majority of players from the GCW.

The GCW does NOT automatically mean PvP. The Covert status was included into the game to allow PvE GCW with a limited exposur to PvP, and if one was carefull, no PvP at all.

In fact, there was a way one could participate in the GCW with NO risk of PvP. Thesewere called PvE battlefields. But they were so buggy, they were completelyunusable and the Devs took them out.

I know this is a fact, because I was on these boards when they proposed this ruleset .
