Q-3PO,
When you stated: 'The second phase will be to rebuild the Jedi system to be quest-oriented'

and...

'It should also be noted that players who have put in work towards becoming a Jedi will not lose their effort. Some sort of recognition of players' efforts will be included in the new system' - Does this mean the system involved in opening the FS slot? Or a system of advancement after the FS slot is achieved?. If it is the former... "CAN I STOP GRINDING PROFESSIONS NOW!!!"

'Deaths will decay from the death counter after one week.' -This isat one death per week I assume?

Deaths after a buffer (3 to 5 depending on advancement) will have a skill revocation penalty. -Will these buffer deaths with the skill revocation penalty ever reset? Or will we reach a point where this 'state where they lose a skill each time they die' become permanent?

Joraan Sett, Corbantis

Skill revocation will be slight at first, but will increase in penalty as the player accumulates more and more non-decayed deaths.

Please do not expect a DEV to actually post anything even close to clear on here, look in all of the other threads here.

You get MAYBE one DEV post for every 50 pages of player posts and then it is something like "Yeah, the weather is pretty warm today" and then much like the holocron they go silent.

Well, this is definetly a step in the right direction. Although many people will be really frustrated at first, I believe this is much more inline with the characteristics of being a Jedi. I have mastered 18 things in my quests to open the FS Slot and now I almost wish I dont open it. I want to do the quest!

This is good news for the jedi community, and I think it has a great potential to be good for the bounty hunters as well. I really do believe that the reason that bounty hunter missions and tracking droids were borked for so long is because if it all did work as intended we wouldn't have jedi moving passed the rank of initiate.

I think that the revised death system alluded to here WILL work to control the population IF bounty hunters get terminals and droids fixed.

As for the missions... all I can say if that I hope that they are dynamic in nature with regard to location and planet or you will have a gang of people waiting at every waypoint in hopes of "ganking" jedi.

Let me add that I AM good with the part about Jedi getting their xp system changed, I know how heIIish it is for them.

But permadeath needs to STAY, and the system to become one needs to STAY.

There is NO other system possible that can not be abused , with quests anyone can become a jedi from day one if they just get a group to go with them and do all of the work each step of the way.

Having items that 'link together' to open your slot do not work because it will be worse than holocrons on the auction boards and give the power to choose who becomes a jedi by hoarding the items and spawn.

The hologrind does suck, I will admit it, but it is the ONLY way that can not be abused and broken, and it is equal to everyone.

I don't really know what to think about these comments yet, becuase they may change, but one thing is for sure, if the devs are changing the fs unlocking to a better method while still letting the holo grinders get them that way aswell I will be one happy camper thats for sure. I don't care how many jedis there are, I just want to have fun, grinding proffessions I don't like is not fun.

This WILL have an effect on how we open our slots-check stratics page it says in regards to holos being removed from the game, and i quote:

Thunderheart doesn't have a complete answer but here's what he said when asked if they will be removed from the game:
Yes and no.

No they most likely wont be in the new system. Yes you can keep your if you still have it. (Im keeping mine cause I save silly items )

the questing is an excellent idea. tihs is how is should of been from the start. The stupid holo grind ruined the game. now i can go back to my uber char. anyways i want to know what they r gonna do for all the ppl who have done mad proffesions? Ive done 15 so far and there are plenty of ppl who have dont 20+. id be quite upset if we didnt get something good for wasting all that time.

You say that....but some people choose not to master proffesions they didnt want to master. It doesnt mean they are any less deserving than people who have macroed there way to open their FS. Some people choose to add to the games in many ways, like, actuallytaking part in PVP all the time, like wanting to become the best weaponsmith on the whole server, and not just dropping it the minute they have it.

With no perma death, there will be no dead Jedi. We'll have Jedi everywhere within a few months of that patch is my 2 cents. I thought it was great a publisher finally had the balls to have perma death in a game, even if it was limited.

Ahh well. Maybe they'll give some time to plan for it some more. The penalties from what it sounded are pretty leniant, there wont be many jedi that will mind waiting a week to get their "death count" refreshed in exchange for losing a skill, and one at that. May not see them aorund much the next month or two but they'll be multiplying like maggots once they can not die.

Am dissapointed but all good ideas get crushed by the masses eventually.

  • The permadeath system is being removed and changed to a skill revocation system based on deaths.
  • I hope they'll include the "Carebear Jedi" Design Schematic.

    • Deaths will decay from the death counter after one week.
    • Hmm, lose a skill that took awhile (they'll probably make that easier too) or wait a week. As I'm not a Jedi myself I would notknwo but the few I have met did sound like they took ahwile to get the skills past Lightsaber Skills. Either way it just enables the immortal Jedi.
    • Skill revocation will be slight at first, but will increase in penalty as the player accumulates more and more non-decayed deaths.
    • Which pass with time so who gives a **edit**?
    • The skill revocation penalty will increase as a player advances up the skill tree.
    • Have to see how that one pans out but I don't think many Jedi are shaking in their boots.
    • The skill to be revoked will be randomly chosen from the last skill earned in each of the 4 skill branches.
    • Very scary. Oooh.
    • No more than one skill will be revoked at a time, though players can get to a state where they lose a skill each time they die.

I know this is all loose information and it may be "worse" or "better" between now and the time it takes effect but overall I think it's soft and coddling. Screw droids, there will be a Jedi Invasion. As they become commonplace there will be nerfing and whining and on and on and on. Once all the Jedi are roaming in packs they'll give us the great opportunity to have a Dark Jedi, make it rough, then carebear it down as well.

My overall thoughts, if you care, Bleh.

We all know and understand that SWG will continue to evolve until all the pieces fit together. It happened for years in Ever Quest before things clamed down and it will happen here. Why? Because as the game is played there are issues that were not thought about previously that need to get fixed to allow for a fair and balanced game. Everyone is complaining about the Jedi change, but you need to think past your own selfish desires. Would you rather the developers fix the Jedi now before you get to far into the profession, or after you are close to becoming a master? We should be happy that the developers are sticking their necks out, knowing that the majority of its client base is prone to absent minded assaults. The developers want what we want, a smooth running game. They are not out to slap us around. We want a good game and they want our money and to provide a good game. They stand to gain nothing by messing with us "just because". After the dust settles, and the game is fine tuned. We may look back at these troubled times with a smile. We'll remember how bad things used to be, and be thankful that the developers listened to our requests that were buried under flame posts.

I find it amusing that so many people who are eager to play a Jedi, are so full of hate and contempt. Maybe some of us should sit back and think about the teachings of the Jedi. Then, once we are calm, we may once again enjoy the galaxy before us.

I agree, but they had best hope that a very very high percentage of the current "serious" crafters, do not want to have anything to do with Jedi, or you will not be able to find anyone to build it at all.

You crummy devlopers should just give up now and save us all some time. Just admit it to yourselfs, and to all of us that this game is a waste of time and money! It runs like crap and there are more bugs than i have ever seen in any game, and the only way to make the most of your time playing it is to cheat.

This game is about as fun as gettingblown away by some invisible or unkillable guy on socom or counter strike. Now you are going to screw up the jedi profession even more. What a great idea get people so burned out on this game that by the time they unlock the FS slot they don't even want to play anymore. what a great idea. what's next everyone is going to get thier slot magicaly unlocked just like you gave everyone 2 holocrons? Well i wish that i could say that i even care anymore, but i don't and from and from my experiance with the months i have spent playing this game i don't see how they could ever pull this game out of the hole they dug ...EVER!

I thinkchangeing the 'jedi system' or the worst video gameprogramming of all timeas i like tocallitshould have been taken into considerating before this piece of trash was ever released. Glad all you devs are happy with this slow running bug filled POS. Because no one else is, and probably never will be.
