I have a suggestion for giving holo grinders credit.
There are 32 possible professions to unlock. There are 24 skill boxes to get the FS slot and Padawan. That means if you give 3 skill boxes for every 4 professions completed, 32 professions would be all 24 skill boxes. I think this would be the fairest way of compensation. At least its alot better than what they had planned.
what about people that have been playing from day one that have masteries before the badge system? the devs have already stated back then the reason that the couldnt give us badges retoactively is because the system doesnt keep track of them, and ONLY KNOWS THE PROFESSIONS THAT ARE HOLO RELATED, but werent very open about the mechanics with holo professions.
I and annoyed that many of you here keep making suggestions based on 32 professions, it aint gonna happen that way because based on words from the devs themselves they dont have that information pre badges, so a lot of us old school vets would be SOL and have to remaster what we previously mastered, if you needed 32 professions as some are stating under the sliding parser theory that doesnt make sense since the database has no record of what profession someone that has been playing before badges has, and also that is NOT "AN ORGANIC CONTROL OF THE JEDI POPULATION". i am sure many of you remember that
You're statement about the old masteries does not seem to be true to my situation.
I left back in August of 2003 with Master Medic and Master Tailor as my completed jobs.
I then re-activated my account on June 2004, and noticed that I had these two badges....and of course I had no idea what they were.
Unless I am missing something, by what you are saying here, the old system should not have kept track of the professions I had mastered before I left.
i am sure you got those 2 profession badges because you didnt drop them before reactivating ![]()
i mastered smuggler and dropped it and didnt get the badge until i mastered again ![]()
- Under the old system I did all my holos up to the silent 1 then did 10 or 12 more professions. My credit was 5 FS trees. I did 20 professions in total.
- My friend got Merchant as his first holo didn't do it but did 23 other professions. He got NO credit.
Is this how it is supposed to work? My friend is going to quit after he confirms this on Tuesday.
He wasn't expecting much but thought he would get at least some credit for 23 professions.

Two days from going live, and all that's posted here are complaints and player speculation. The devs have a very clear idea of what they're doing with hologrinder credit and they have asked the Player community to comment on their findings. There have been NO clear, official announcements regarding the level of credit given, because the path to The Force is a mystery, as it should be. This is a very sensitive issue, because it is VERY difficult to test something when you don't know the exact behavior you are trying to test.
The "they" that you refer to are the Players in the Testing Community. Many have offered detailed information, bug reports, and even some theories. However, the majority of this thread is riddled with whining, complaints, and threats of account termination because "things aren't fair". The saddest part of the whole ordeal is that all these pointless complaints and empty threats make the job of Quality Control nearly impossible.
My advice is to wait until Tuesday, log in, type /checkforcestatus, and come back to this thread if you have questions. If you're NOT Force Sensitive yet, take a deep breath, and hit a few POIs. So far, a VERY small percentage of the population has tested this system, and there are bound to be bugs. If something isn't how you expected it to be... be SURE that your expectations are inline with official announcements, and NOT player speculation. Report the issue using /bug on the Live server you play on, and move on.
Most of all, enjoy the game.
