Quick question.

When working your way through say... the Enhanced Reflexes trees, each skill is counted as 1 towards the 24 you require to get to the Exit Quest.

My question is, does the Master box of the Enhanced Reflexes count as 1 skill also?

If it does, great. If it doesn't, I imagine that people who are going for a Jedi won't need to waste 620AP on the Master box. This would most likely only be useful for players that wish to gain the extra skill mods etc.

Something I've not seen asked anywhere yet anyway

I have a suggestion for giving holo grinders credit.

There are 32 possible professions to unlock. There are 24 skill boxes to get the FS slot and Padawan. That means if you give 3 skill boxes for every 4 professions completed, 32 professions would be all 24 skill boxes. I think this would be the fairest way of compensation. At least its alot better than what they had planned.

what about people that have been playing from day one that have masteries before the badge system? the devs have already stated back then the reason that the couldnt give us badges retoactively is because the system doesnt keep track of them, and ONLY KNOWS THE PROFESSIONS THAT ARE HOLO RELATED, but werent very open about the mechanics with holo professions.

I and annoyed that many of you here keep making suggestions based on 32 professions, it aint gonna happen that way because based on words from the devs themselves they dont have that information pre badges, so a lot of us old school vets would be SOL and have to remaster what we previously mastered, if you needed 32 professions as some are stating under the sliding parser theory that doesnt make sense since the database has no record of what profession someone that has been playing before badges has, and also that is NOT "AN ORGANIC CONTROL OF THE JEDI POPULATION". i am sure many of you remember that

You're statement about the old masteries does not seem to be true to my situation.

I left back in August of 2003 with Master Medic and Master Tailor as my completed jobs.

I then re-activated my account on June 2004, and noticed that I had these two badges....and of course I had no idea what they were.

Unless I am missing something, by what you are saying here, the old system should not have kept track of the professions I had mastered before I left.

i am sure you got those 2 profession badges because you didnt drop them before reactivating

i mastered smuggler and dropped it and didnt get the badge until i mastered again

There's a quote about the original design of Galaxies that says it was too much like living the life of Uncle Owen and not enough like the life of Luke or Han Solo.

Me and a friend went to TC2 since it is a copy of Bria live. This is what we found:

  1. Under the old system I did all my holos up to the silent 1 then did 10 or 12 more professions. My credit was 5 FS trees. I did 20 professions in total.

  2. My friend got Merchant as his first holo didn't do it but did 23 other professions. He got NO credit.

Is this how it is supposed to work? My friend is going to quit after he confirms this on Tuesday.

He wasn't expecting much but thought he would get at least some credit for 23 professions.

Why didn't he do merchant??????? all you do is put vendors up while you grind other profs....

I think what needs to be done is SOE needs to make a plan; a goal of how the game should be. And, unless the plan/goal needs to be modified to allow for environmental changes in the game, continue on with the plan irregardless of how many whine and complain. SOE needs to take control not the masses. There needs to be a plan or there will always be disorder and confusion. You can't continuosly change things based on people who have nothing better to do then to complain in the forums. I would much prefer consistancy.

Well bro I can feel you on this 100%. I really can. But think about it, then we would be nothing more then Clones following the same data path objective. They are honestly trying to make it as diverse as possible. Imagine if every single person had to do exactly the same exact thing to get to the same exact place. Within 2 days a guide would be writen up ready to go. Even games like Bualders gate give some Different play options - Not extrodinary but at least its not the same exact path for everyone.

In all honesty it would make the Devs - and our lives 1000000000% easier to be in a system like that. There would be no If's or when's or how to's. Even though I want it to be easy and guided, direct, and paced, it wouldnt have much diversity and uniqeness. It seems like the current system (patch 10 in testing) is still semi/sorta like that from what im reading. It does have a tiny bit of diversity to it though ( im assuming from testers posts ) so that its not a Machine pressed factory made identical product for everyone.

Allthough, im not disagreeing with you my Friend - I just feel a Direct approach wouldnt be that fun for me. I could just walk both my Toons through the same exact steps and get the same exact results. I dont really think that would be too much fun.

Peace out bro...

Ok, I don't intend to be mean to you or to the other person who said his friend didn't do his first holo and all, but something doesn't sound right with these two stories. Why on earth would you go through all the work of grinding professions and not start with the four holo ones? I don't understand. Holos were easy to get after the gift holos given out.

I think what is probably the case is that you get weighted credit for the holo professions you did and then a little added credit for professions you did over and above that. Seems fair to me. If people just ran around doing all the easy ones they shouldn't get the same credit as people who did their holos and then tried to find the last elusive secret professions. That would be unfair don't you think?

tragic indeed.... but then again.... it's his own fault for not doing holo profs ( not trying to be mean, and sorry if it comes across that way). Seems 23 profs is way to many to do without stumblin across at least 1 holo prof...hmmmm

I do not post to these cause they seem pretty pointless usually. I just have one question. Two days from going live how in the hell can they not know how toons with holo finished but no unlock are going to be rewarded. This is stupid.

Just my 2 cents

- I support fixing all the existing bugs, starting with the oldest bugs first, fixing the broken professions starting with Smuggler first and the attempt to make SWG a better game, before any new content is added!!!!

Well as you can tell by the post count .. I am part of the silent majority...I unlocked 14 Aug on Bria and there is on TC2 right now a copy of Bria after I unlocked. Well I tried to go to the village and was not discouraged by the fact that I needed to get the inner glow..the old man.. the mugging from the sith... and then finally getting to the village...but what I was discoouraged about was getting through all that and showing up at the village to receive no free unlocks from Peamos and not even a mention of credit from the elder... I tried everything that I could think of and even tried converting a bunck of xp over to no avail...I am ranting about this so that hopefully a DEV reads this... not to incite fear that every other post 9 unlocker will get the unlubed shaft like my TC2 character has...

Oh some vitals: 26 professions

90 Badges

Two days from going live, and all that's posted here are complaints and player speculation. The devs have a very clear idea of what they're doing with hologrinder credit and they have asked the Player community to comment on their findings. There have been NO clear, official announcements regarding the level of credit given, because the path to The Force is a mystery, as it should be. This is a very sensitive issue, because it is VERY difficult to test something when you don't know the exact behavior you are trying to test.

The "they" that you refer to are the Players in the Testing Community. Many have offered detailed information, bug reports, and even some theories. However, the majority of this thread is riddled with whining, complaints, and threats of account termination because "things aren't fair". The saddest part of the whole ordeal is that all these pointless complaints and empty threats make the job of Quality Control nearly impossible.

My advice is to wait until Tuesday, log in, type /checkforcestatus, and come back to this thread if you have questions. If you're NOT Force Sensitive yet, take a deep breath, and hit a few POIs. So far, a VERY small percentage of the population has tested this system, and there are bound to be bugs. If something isn't how you expected it to be... be SURE that your expectations are inline with official announcements, and NOT player speculation. Report the issue using /bug on the Live server you play on, and move on.

Most of all, enjoy the game.
