And how many image designers, rangers, Teras Kasi artists, and commandos did we see? I think the number hovers somewhere around zero, but the last two make up a HUGE portion of the SWG community.
We did blow up their Death Star. I figure the Imps have a good reason to be pissed.
Anyway, the simple fix to the covet reb that dosen't want to get caught is this...
Leave you sliced items at home until you need 'em, unless you can fight your way out of the mess you walked in.
Novice Smuggler and Rebel
It is nice to see rank actually be a bennefit. so far it only hampers me when I get killed and I lose 42 faction points since I am a colonel.
This is the way it should be implemented and I hope the rebels understnad why and do not complain. this makes the Star wars world a lot more like the movies which is a good good thing.
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou. Granted I should wait until it actually is implemented as thunderheart occasiuonally doesn't know what the heck is going on, but I am still happy.
This made my day.

Nifty wrote:psst... why do Rebel coverts who want to never ever PvP have to resign? Can't they, umm, I don't know...not carry spices or sliced weapons and armor?Oh, that's right, it's impossible to have fun in this game without using contraband. Wait... I have fun! I don't own a sliced weapon (unless the guy lied to me and had it sliced before selling it to me), I don't even wear armor and I don't use spices. *shrugs* Don't see what the big deal is for those that want to avoid the TEF.Maybe because.... we would be barred from significantly superior weapons and armor, plus we would be barred from spices that boost our effectivness significantly.
Plus, remember that one of the things we are scanned for is negative Imp Faction?
That is not exactly something we can leave in the bank =P
If Thunderheart's message that begins this thread is accurate and complete, this is no longer true - I don't see anything there about faction points.
Complaining rebels have to understand that the title of this patch is, 'The Imperial Crackdown.' As such, the patch is meant to make the life of a rebel harder, not easier. It is supposed to be a patch that makes hardcore rebels reel and people who are usually always covert or on the fence join the Empire. If you do not want to deal with the harder life of a rebel, either get rid of your sliced weapons and spice, employ the services of a smuggler or join the Empire. This is the way it should be. The rebels should be having a tough time and not the empire that is 'supposed' to be oppressing them. I would also like to add that at least a rebel can remain covert until discovered; an imperial without high rank that is looking to avoid scanning will have to be overt all the time.
Smugglers have to understand that they are a skill set of criminals and there will still be a need for their services outside of the top ranking imperial players. Lower ranking imperials, neutrals and rebels will all have a reason to group with a smuggler. There is no need to become greedy. Imperial smugglers will be an asset to lower ranking imps, and neutrals alike. Rebel smugglers will be an asset to rebels and neutrals alike. Being grouped with a high ranking imperial will not help to prevent that group from being scanned, but being grouped with a smuggler will.
Finally the Imperials should accept what they have been given and not push their luck. It's pretty much accepted that Galaxies' players are rebel by majority, and will complain their way to victory if pressed too hard (read: AT-ST) Yeah it may stink that you'll have to grind all that FP to not be noticed, and it'll stink that the only alternative is to be overt all the time. But if it does nothing else, it will balance with the rebels being forced overt when they are scanned and discovered to have contraband. This patch is shaping up to be the empire's big break, so just enjoy it while it lasts.
Lastly, I'd just like to tell everybody to stop making up these sudden 'ideas' about contraband scanning and overt conditions. If a lower imperial NPC saluting is such a big deal, then it can easily be placed with something more subtle like a nod. Please quit trying to brainstorm different concepts for this balanced system, your attempts at 'getting back' at the faction you don't like are thinly veiled and disappointing.
That's all. If this post has made at least 1 person playing this game calm just a small bit then it has done its job. Thanks.
I have the answer to all of the Smugglers that are upset. Get rid of the contraband thing completely. Let them stay how they are now.
No worrying about Imperial officer this or that. Besides why addonly "some" content at all? Its obvious, they don't want anything unless its going to be 100% perfect. So they are ofcourse, willing to wait till next year for the 100%, no bugs, no downside, contraband publish.
All the rebs that think its going to be too tough now will either Quit, go nuetral, or most likely go Imp. Thats exactly when I will go reb to play with this really cool challenge. I used to be reb, but apparently the imps felt that the rebs were too tough so they all became rebs. Thats when I defected and joined the team that was at the disadvantage. The Imps. (Thats why I wanted to be a reb in the first place, to fight the good fight)
/cheer for game content!
This is what I play this game for. I have been waiting for some actual Star Wars feel in this game and it looks like we are going to get some. If the crackdown is implemented the way TH says, this is going to be the first thing in the game that actually makes sense for Star Wars fans.
