Why are Imperial forces attacking Dark Jedi?
The Empire has a campaign against all Jedi. The soldiers of the Empire have no knowledge of what differences there are between Dark & Light Jedi. There is nothing to indicate that the Emperor and Vader want Dark Jedi around.

Cal, I have to say that this is one of the most promising changes on a fundamental level, because it shows a real committment to staying true to SWG canon. Please justtry to evaluate the rest of the changeswith this princpal in mind.

I understand where the dark jedi are coming from though. I suspect if I was an imp padawan instead of a rebel one, I would be concerned. But even the earliest pre launch SWG FAQ on jedisaid that becomingadark jedi would be extremely dangerous, even more so than being a light jedi.

That's true as well...so corellia needs an imp stronghold with a starport and tatooine needs a rebel stronghold with a starport. Otherwise...well, I can easily see a crafter having to shuttle in to a hostile starport, getting killed, and not being able to get out of the city in question because the closest cloner would be in that city as well. Not good.

No, these are great things. If you don't want to be attackable by NPCs, you can go "On Leave". If you are that concerned about being scanned, you can resign your faction.

I'm very enthusiastic about the idea that the only Imperial "stronghold" on Corellia has no starport. That way, if I want my Imperial characters to go to Corellia a lot and not get into trouble, it's worth my while to help fight and take down Rebel bases on Corellia.

It's an actual impact on the lives of our characters, it creates something to fight for. The ways to avoid the unpleasantness are several and are easily available--if your character is "On Leave" or literally neutral, with no faction, then you are basically safe.

For those of you crying about its not fair for the dark jedi, please read for some history lessons:

"Affiliation: Dark Jedi and Sith

"this ancient brotherhood of Jedi Knights split from the ranks of the "lightsiders" when access to the ancient Sith lore was forbidden. The Jedi Council feared that the knowledge of harnessing the Dark Side of the Force would be twisted and used to perform many evil acts. The Sith brotherhood was founded some 2,000 years before the Battle of Yavin by a rogue Jedi Knight who yearned to learn more of the Dark Side of the Force. Together with about 50 followers, this rogue fled the Old Republic and established his own Sith order. With galactic domination on their agenda, these new Sith Lords quickly became distrustful of each other and abusive of their dark side powers. In a short time, they had nearly wiped themselves out again. One Sith Lord remained, a man by the name of Darth Bane. He swore that the Sith would never again vanish from the galaxy, but also made certain that they never grew beyond their means. He established a rigid code by which there could only be a single Sith Lord and a single Sith apprentice. When the Lord finally expired, his current apprentice was promoted and allowed to take his own student. This pairing continued for the next several centuries until Darth Sidious rose to power as the Sith Lord. Sidious eventually took Darth Maul as his apprentice, and hoped to take control of the galaxy by bringing the Old Republic down from the inside. However, Maul was destroyed by Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Sidious' plans were thwarted. Decades later, Emperor Palpatine established Darth Vader as the last Dark Lord through the rigorous training he gave Vader. Following the deaths of Vader and Palpatine at the Battle of Endor, and with the destruction of Palpatine's clones on Byss, the order of the Sith was exterminated."

OK, now you know why the devs have made it that way. Finally the devs are doing something correct when it comes to Star Wars canon!

Palpatine and Vader dont like it when any Jedi, light or dark are left to roam anywhere they wanted. Their plan was to exterminate them all to stay in control. Palpatine knew that if he let the dark jedi's population out of control he would not have as firm a grip in the galaxy.

Hmmm pretty good except for one thing.......Sith and Dark jedi are two difftrent things. Someone who knows so much about star wars should know we play DARK JEDI not Sith Lords.

"Edited" Posted before I saw Ruh's response. Happy someone else knew the difference 5 stars for you lol

Woot I'm not a Jedi, but I think that the "Imperial" aspect of being a dark Jedi should be removed because of this. Make Light and Dark Jedi their own seperate factions, not extensions of existing ones.

What is the reasoning for allowing high ranking faction members to avoid scans?
High ranking officers aren’t going to be scanned by their own army, but they will be scanned by the opposing army. This isn’t anything new. We haven’t touched the code or the percentages at all. The only difference is that now, Rebel officers are protected from Rebel scans.

And that's the problem! You guys are justifying reward and illegallity without risk! There is no use for those high-ranking officers to use Smugglers. What keeps the corruption out of the Rebellion or the Empire? That is simply unacceptable to Smugglers. A reduced chance to be scanned for high-ranking officers is cool, but 100% chance even in their own "territories" is nuts.

A Rebel/Imperial Colonel strolls through their town carrying 20 crates of spice, 15 sliced guns, 2 sets (18 pieces) of sliced Composite gets100% protection and freedom.

A civilian Master Smuggler strolls through any town with 1 sliced pistol gets a 95% chance of getting scanned and more than one time as well.

That just doesn't seem right to me. If you guys are going to justify using contraband without risk and rewards, you're gating Smugglers from player-player interaction. And if you have a profession specifically designed to Smuggle contraband without getting caught, there shouldn't be some other perk that's not even in a profession that totally negates that Smuggling profession.

Calandryll you and every other person it seems still just glances over the topic I raised without addressing it.

BASICALLY you're telling me as a Special Forces member I watch while NPCs get ganked by someone scanned and made combatant. AKA cities are really not worth patrolling at all.

The message is = PVPers get out of town and go to a PVP base for your fun.

That's fine and I suppose I could understand it, but really...these kind of "watch and laugh" scenarios of troops watching idley while their city's forces are attacked is a bit absurd.

This is the only problem I have with the new system.

"I NEVER JOINED A WAR.

I am neutral. Never once did I mention specificallyI would get ganked by any member of the Rebellion or the Empire. Those are NOT the only 2 factions that will affect these changes...people need to understand this.

I have faction rankings for various NPC's. One visit to the Corellian Corvette has put me at negative CorSec faction. I will therefore be unable to stand anywhere in Coronet once this system goes in, for deliveries, for business, for pleasure, for playing music/buffing in Coronet Cantina, etc. I will be scanned and I will be attacked, and reinforcements will be called on me, all while the only weapon I possess is a freakin' Slitherhorn.

This is not about the war. I want nothing to do with the war. I am just trying to run a business in this game.

This is about factional NPC's ganking me, just as I explained it, and just as Callandryl laid out in the thread. Please re-read and you will see what I mean. This is NOT just Rebel vs. Imperial, this is EVERY single NPC that has a faction attached to it, depending on the controlled city you entered."

I understand what you're saying, but this isa galaxy at war, and civilians are ALWAYS the ones drawn into the conflict unwillingly. If they ease up on this, it's not going to feel like it should - while you may want to just run your business, the point is that SWG is much more than just the economic component (which I'm a very big part of as well, this will be rough on me too). Think of it as a challenge, create new gaming opportunities, hire people to guard you, etc.

Theres alot of talk about these changes being biased towards either faction.
Its great to have the complexity of these bias' and their relation to continuity,
however this is a game and it should be balanced. The balancing should occur
with mirrored rulesets for both sides, or, a benefit in one area to a defecit in another.
As long as the net effect is an even playing field the game will be fun and enjoyable for all.
This is just something i thought would be useful to take into account.
