Thread: Weekly Rountdable Discussion (Week Ending 1-18-04)
Have you guys considered rewarding dedicatedprofessionals with a FSCS for their contributions to the community in their profession? Since the holocron release everyone and their brother has been "grinding" through professions in search of the elusive Jedi slot. I think this was a creative and effective way to assign the FSCS, but shouldn't there be others?
My major problem is the fact that theelite craftsmen and women who I rely on for having a fun time in the game have all started Grinding. Heck, myself included starting tonight. This plays havoc on the economy as you don't have anyone getting really good at something and sticking with it. I make really good meds. I have made thousands of stacks of stims for players throughout the SWG universe. I like playing a doctor. I like the crafting, the searching out of rare materials, the gratefulness of someone who has been running around with plague for an hour as I heal them, the buffs, making the best meds I can and competing for business with other key medical practitioners.
However, under the current system, none of that counts. I have been a force for life in the Chilastra universe. I have done it well for several months now, but I know that will never allow me to experiment with a Force Sensative character, and that makes me sad
I know the method you have chosen probably started as a good way to reward users who were really willing to explore all aspects of the game. Then it turned into something that more or less forced users to endure all aspects of the game, and it has since become something that makes users find the quickest path through all of the aspects of the game. This means that many Master Docs have never made and enhance pack or grouped as a healer on an advanced planet, as you only need to grind BEC's and heal a tumbling buddy to climb that tree. Many dancers have never stopped to chat or flirt with the cantina clientelle because it is easier to grind that profession while watching TV. Who needs to create a Bioengineered creature (not that you want them doing this right now apparently) when you can grind Micronutrient suppliments and sample trash outside the starport to master BE?
I could go on, but hopefully you get what I am saying. The holocron craze, with no publicized alternative, has ripped the sense of community to shreds in this game as people concentrate on getting through the next profession. I am not saying that your original idea should not still be valid. I am asking that perhaps there could be a thought out process that rewards dedication and community gameplay.
Examples (yes the first is self serving ;-):
When a professional reaches a certain amount of UXP, unlock it.
When a PvP has killed x number of combatants on the battlefields, unlock it.
When a scout/ranger has harvested or milked 90% of all known creatures, unlock it.
Put out a special item that drops once a week or month in any random drop in the universe and when the character opens it, unlock it.
Just some ideas. I miss the sense of community and accomplishment I felt before the holocraze. I also don't want to spend the next month grinding through professions that hold no interest for me just so I can get a slot....
These would be my top 5 Personal issues with the game at the present time.
1) Fix the Auto Storing of vehicles. (very anoying for those of us who do not have enough skill points left for novice scout to deploy a camp to get it back when it stores in the wild)
2) Make the ability to use basic camp kits for all players (this will help with the problem above (#1) and will help with other things as well. I mean come on. Anyone can pitch a tent. You won't be able to make them so you will have to buy them from scouts.)
3) Make it so I can call my pet and AT-ST at the same time. (AT-ST can not keep up with Vehicles, so when I go out to do missions I have to walk if I want to use my AT-ST. If you do #2 then this will not be as big of an issue because I can use a camp to call AT-ST when I get there.)
4) Loot drops and types need to be adjusted. (CDEF Carbines and Pistols, rifles, ect... are not loot, they are a waste of time, having to destroying them. Putting the good loot in piles of debris for people to have to sit and camp them is not loot either. Why can't this loot be dropped by NPC's and be more frequent. I have killed 1000's of Rebel NPC's in the last week and have not got any loot worth keeping. But can sit for hours doing nothing and loot from a pile of trash. Doesn't make sense or make the game exciting when you actually find good loot.)
5) Better Quests and Quest rewards (Sub standard weapons and a few credits are boring, put in some good quest rewards original and exciting items. Maybe even make an epic quest to unlock your FSCS, for those of us who do not want to master multiple professions in hopes of maybe guessing the right on that will unlock it.)
is that too much to ask
TH why are you replacing us Imperial Players with NPC
Probably because there is a distinct difference in the star wars feel between an organized raid of stormtroopers in full stomtrooper armor and a bunch of overt l337 d00dz running around in gunman's dusters and revealing fleshwraps shouting "1 pwn j00 n00b 1 r teh win!!!!111!!!"
ANyone else see this happen on their servers? Since there is no general forum anymore, I'm hijacking this one, /bow

IT has been concluded that the Patch on Nov 9 included a stealth nerf to Resource Quantities. Check out the thread and the graph.
I guess this will determine for me if the Development Team or Thunderheart are really able to use this roundtable to get Cross Server/Cross Profession information.
Please check the Ranger forum. It appears that the proposal being formulated to send will In my opinion change rangers into some kind of Combat Engineer with Heavy PVP and GCW capabilities and away from the PVE.
I encourage you to look for yourself and draw yoour own conclusions.

they are still out gathering bone to make tents so they can call the droid army and looking for a spot that doesnt say "You can not place a camp here because ________"
Hey Thunderheart, how about you pick out a few ideas in here and turn them into their own focus threads.
Otherwise . . . there is no focus, andthis isessentiallya game of free association.
This is the only assumption I can be led to at this point.
Please, the silence is deafening! I never thought I would see the day that Pex would be the most prevalent name on the Dev Tracker!
