Thread: Declaring overt
I agree with the others. Declare overt anywhere anytime ! If I want to put on my Stormtrooper armour and run around the plains of Naboo I should be able to. I've never thought it made sense. The TEF system is a bit unfair in that overts always get the first shot at you, and that usually blinds or bleeds you.

I like the idea floated here that you can make yourself overt at any time regardless of location. Visit a recruiter to go back to covert.
One can immediately help out imp/reb buddies under attack that way. I don't see this causing too much of a problem, as going overt really only makes you a target.
I think it would be pretty cool if the recruiter would actually do something when rebels/imperials run into a base, or in a certain range, like maybe toss a grenade or two, something of that sort..but the recruiter just standing there doing nothing while their factional recruits are slaughtered is pretty strange...hehe. Anyone the /declareovert is a nice idea...i vote yes.
Let a smuggler be able to drop a Rebel Terminal into a Advance PlayerCamp , and Squad leader to give the Faction
3 more purpose to a skill right there
I dont agree with overt command idea, here is why.
I walk up to a reb thats holding a city, type command and get first hit, will be TEF problem x 10.
I wish you were ALWAYSovert but then your going to have problems with the clone centers.
Well solve this problem by having faction clone centers. Put giant faction turrets near the clone centers so they can not be raided while cloneing.
OR put a perimiter around the clone center that does not allow you to become overt until you cross the invisible line, once you cross that line you are overt and are overt even if you cross back over.
if you put a timer on it, first strike still exists unless the timer is random, which is what they did in AC2.
I think this system would solve a lot of problems in the long run. For one thing, it would thin the crowd whenever a PvP battle broke out.....because the people who dont want to fight PvP (like a raid in Bestine for instance) would have to leave the immediate area of fighting. Which seems a lot more realistic to me......if a major fire fight breaks out in town, crowds of people wouldnt just be sitting around watching it.......they would either run away to someplace safe, or join in. So one tactic of using all the crowds of people as cover in a PvP in town fight wouldnt work anymore. Camping the cantina's and medical centers would be reduced.......as well as players using the covert players for tactical advantages in these kinds of fights........if your going to stick around the fight.....you would be overt, and therefore fair game.
People could still march large groups over long distances, but the advantage of attacking from ambush would be almost nullified because once the one overt guy start shootings, everyone else will go overt at the same time.......and everyone would start shooting at the same time.
You would have 60 seconds to decide to stick around, or to run far enough away to be out of the fight.
It just seems like this would be the most realistic method, the fairest method, and most of all the most fun of any method.
Good Idea....do it pls
In fact just make everyone overt all the time......but if you kill them without reason you are consider chaotic and everyone can kill you without reason or fear of going chaotic.....
In fact take a look at Lineage the bloodpledges PVP system.....best system going and would severly improve gameplay here..............
I suggest Able to Go Overt anytime, EXCEPT within 150m (or other tuned distance) of Opposing recruiters (or suitable HQ figure).
A - This would prevent massive ambushes INSIDE enemy bases, but give the Players maximum freedom. Plus it just feels right.
B - The otheroption is to create a Faction Sensor device that can be placed on NPC installations that would automatically make opposing factions become Overt. No Sneaking for YOU! Not as fun since it removes the Player choices.
ps - is there someplace I can go to find out all the FAQ's on this whole PvP 'thing'? I have surmised what TEF is, but there is a ton of stuff I dont know about. Trading issues?

I have a problem with declaring overt anytime anywhere.
What if I get 30 covertIMPS, take a shuttle to a rebel outpost, then we all declare at the same time and ambush everyone there. To me that's not verry fair for the rebels.
that's just my 2 cents
