Thread: Declaring overt
This is a good idea. It will make people camping the recruiter less likely to get you as you declare.
As a suggestion, the squad leader should have a command that makes everone in the group overt, if they are within 50m of the recruiter. This will prevent the situation where 1 person goes overt and gets picked off by a whole group of campers and relying on the TEF to start the battle. Instead everyone would go overt at the same time and the battle would begin.
I really think the change need to be made that there are Imperial rather than Rebel mission terminals and Recruiters in the just about every city, in smaller cities, like Anchorhead, have rebel missions and terminals, but these cities will be known by the empire and subject to attack. Have a rebel base, big or small on each planet far from any city, complete with cloning facility (that only clones OVERT rebels that die during combat doing missions or defending the base), med center, cantina and mission terminals. My character is a rebel, I am not complaining. The Imperials are supposed to rule, it shouldn't be that easy for rebels to declare overt and run out to attack incoming Imperials while covert imperials have to sit by and watch. The Empire is Law, why not show it?
Just another idea

Works for me, Base defenders should always have an upper hand. HOWEVER, remove recruiter NPCs from factionmission objectives. Coverts shuttling in to a opposing base, walking out 500m, finding an objective to declare at and then launching an attack is ludricous. They should have to shuttle in Overt or walk over from the nearest neutral port.
Base defenders should always have the advantage.
Seems like a great idea, but like most things in this gameit will be geared towards the rebels than imperials. The whole town of AH is in a radius of about 50m, so when one imperial goes to attack anyonethe whole town will go overt with the touch of a macro'd button. While in bestine we will still have to run up the hill or to the other side of the lag ridden city to use the /command.
Sorry if this has been posted before, but I didn't have the time to sift through 20 odd pages of other random complaints of what class is overpowered by some other class.
Today, I enjoy participating in PvP. I don't mind the system that it has set up with overt and covert. However, some people are blatently exploiting this system. There are several people who remain covert, and have a friend go overt and then have that friend sit in his locked house kilometers away. They will then group together and the coverts will now be able to freely attack any overts first without the overts being able to take a first shot or even know that there is danger present. The coverts can die, clone and come back and immediately begin attacking again much like the revenge TEF.
This is even worse than the revenge TEF and a blatent exploit of the system. If someone who is covert is going to be grouped with an overt, make the coverts NOT ALLOWED to attack first, and make them targetable to overts of the opposing side with a permanent TEF as long as they are groupedor not even allowed to be targeted or attack at all. THIS is how it should work and not vice versa.
FIX OVERT / COVER PVP SO IT ACTUALLY WORKS FIRST!
say for instance you are a rifleman and u DB someone u get 15 faction, u can get 25 faction if u jsut unequip your rifle and DB them...causeing u to gain more and them to lose more...it's based on teh mission terminals way of calculating difficulty...this shouldn't be based on yoru weapon but your overall combat skill...
I think the covert/overt situation is all wrong.
If u are overt u show the whole world who u are.. as a covert u are hidden BUT u should be able to strike from your hidden position... I shouldn't have to decalare to attack u.. this would make raiding cities A LOT more fun to do cause then there wouldn't be a need to run to your recruiter to declare u can strike from where u stand BUT once u strike u automatically become overt cause of your action against the ooposing force. BUT coverts can't attack coverts, ONLY coverts attacking overts.. I mean COME ON.. IRL if i see a opposing force I am not going to decalare who I am in order to attack that person I am going to tag him .. follow him and then BAM.. by by your dead... welcome to a REAL WAR.

Exactly. I just think its stupid that as a medic I can get a temporary TEF as I heal, not know it and get hit by an OVERT. Yet as a covert, I can't hit an overt player. I know that he is the opposing faction, yet I am unable attack him. This isn't typical of a normal war. Let coverts be able to have the first strike against the enemy. I'm thinking it will bring much more fun to the game. If not, let the covert at least have theability for first strike if he has a TEF. This way he can't be hit from behind by the opposing faction unaware of what is going on.

Actaully, the amount of FP you get is based off of the other persons rank in their faction, not the weapon you have equipped.
I don't know if this has bee said yet, but how about:
/declareovert delay :60
Or something similar. You type that near a recruiter and then run away and turn over after 60 seconds.
