Q!

We need to be told what you mean! The post is ambiguous to whether this is AFTER you've opened the force slot, or BEFORE?

I've just started my holo grinding...I wiped my character to do so. Should I continue to professions I don't want, or fix him and wait?

We need to be told this NOW.

Only as long as you P-Wipe all the Jedi players, and stop giving away free holocrons. This isn't Knights of the Old Republic you idiots.

And here I was thinking after three deaths a FS Player should lose their FS Slot and start holoquesting all over again. That would really keep the population down to a minimum. Otherwise everyone will have a Jedi character. Then what is the point of this game - Everyone who was here just to win the game quits and you hope you get to keep you jobs based upon those players you haven't royally upset?

Ok when you start dancing in the cantina, i hope you get attacked by jedi for no reason. Then your going to say what the hell is that for.

Then you will start b*tching like the rest of us

what a vague statement that is. Maybe they are thinking of taking the guesswork out, i.e. still have holocrons, but maybe a final quest at the end of the profession, when you have mastered? Maybe one final quest when you geta silent holocron? Maybe the holocron system will stay the same, four professions and a silent, and they are just talking about after the force slot opens?

I think it is only fair to get some more information on this, but lets give them a bit of time - for all we know, they may still be still discussing how the other parts of this change are going to work. Carry on your holocron work for now

I really don't like the idea of having to grind out 20+ professions for a FSS any more than the next guy, but at least it was a method to keep the numbers down to a resonable level. I think that has to be the key to any changes made in the system. Keep the Jedi numbers low.

There are couple of options as I see it:

Option 1: If you change the method that we open the FSS to a quest based system, then keep permadeath for jedi and when they die, take away the FSS until they unlock it through the quest again. When it is unlocked, the character that unlocked it should become Force Sensitive. Don't make a new character slot, let the character that did the work become a jedi. This would provide a more defined path to jedi, but also keep the danger in it that would make the noncommited player stay away.

Option 2: Keep the current method of unlocking the FSS and then change to the skill death system rather than permadeath. This will eventually lead to an increase in Jedi also however, because after a point it is near impossible for them to be killed unless a BH brings a small army with him. To alleviate this the BH community needs that tracking droids to work on Player jedi and they should automatically pop up on the BH boards if they use a lightsaber or visible force power in the presence of any Imperial player or NPC that is allowed to live more than an hour after. This would replecate the empire's desire to crush the jedi at an early stage.

Either way, the bottom line is that the jedi population needs to be controlled. The jedi are and should be very powerful, but they should also have to hide. I don't want to see them everywhere, and if I do I want to see Imperials and bounty hunters swarming in on them like angry bees.

No. Plainly and simply, just no.

Casual players want a easier way to be jedi? **edit**. There's plenty of fun in being a game without being a jedi. If a casual player can become a jedi it will be infinitely easy for moderate or serious players (of which there are quite noticable amounts) to become jedi, at which point we will have servers full of irresponsible jedi who don't respect one iota what the hell it is they are. Jedi devastated after one death? GOOD! Does no one else realize that this is possibly the only way to keepjedi populations down? Even with the current system, the amount of FSS opened will be ever-increasing. The same would probably be true with any system; the difference would be the rate at which they were. What keeps the jedi number down is that many people who have their FSS opened don't play them. Or for the most part don't run around with them all the time. Why? Because it takes some serious BALLS to spend the time building up skills for a jedionlytorisk all of it by running around and PvPing or engaging dangerous enemies. But for a powerful jedi, the benefits will justify the danger. RISK VERSUS REWARD FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST.

If this change goes through I'm quitting without question. There are plenty of other half-assed mmorpgs out there these days, and I see reason to stick with one that buckles to the squeals of whiny little kids who want to swing lightsabers like luke in the movies.

I do kinda of agree with you....but this thread is in "IN TESTING" forums. So that indicates it's designed and ready for bugging and putting up live....if not on the Test Server.

Moving to In Concept or In Design might be a better place for this.

I have to laugh at how many people here didn't really read the post..all they saw was change the path to become a jedi...it says nothing about changing the path to open your slot! All they are thinking is WOW!, now all I gotta do is some stupid quests, and POOOF! I'm a Jedi ..yay! Wrong!....They appear to be stating that they are changing the Jedi advancement structure to make Jedi life a little more enjoyable..that's all. I for one see nothing wrong with the current way to open your slot..we pretty much know what to do.....yes, it's a long, hard, boring path, ....but that's what it's supposed to be..not a system of quests that you can be "rushed" through in a few hours. Only the ones that are truly dedicated to spending the amount of time to open the slot should get one. I feel it forces players to try professions that they wouldotherwise never have tried...We'd all be Master Commando/Bh/TK killing machines...then the game would be boring!! I have been on the grind for 2 months now, and am happy to say that I have really enjoyed some of the profession I have had to try because of the holocron....I am currently working on Dancer, which I would have NEVER done...but it's actually pretty cool.....so I think the system works. Everybody needs to stop whining about how "hard" it is to grind out your FSS...it's supposed to be hard!!!I do agree there needs to be some clarification from SOE on ther statement, but for now.....stop freaking, and play the game.

The path to opening your slot IS the path to becoming a Jedi. Once a jedi, its just leveling like any other class.

So lets see, SOE pretty much admits that all you have to do is grind proffesions untill you open your FS slot. So almost everyone playing the game begins to do just that. Dev's look at each other and say "Man in a few months 80% of the population is going to have opened their slot. We can't have that. Let's change it to quest based like they said they wanted but we can make it insanely difficult." Then the Dev's say " But if we do that there will be no Jedi, and we have to have Jedi as a selling point" Then Dev's say " We could make it much easier on the existing Jedi."......

Just my conspiricy theory.......

So this means that the way to unlock the FSCS changes as well? It means you have to do some quests and mastering professions won't be necessaty as it is now?

Or are you only talking about the jedi system itself and no about the way to unlock the FSCS?

I have been grinding professions since quite some time now.. if you change the system and my work and time was for nothing I woudln't be very happy about that.

Please be a little more precise and understand that I wish to know how it will be as soon as possible. I want to know if I should spend more time with roleplaying or continue grinding professions.

FANTASTIC IDEA!!!!!!!! i think its about time we see some UBER wookie carryin a saber

named IPWN YOURARSE walkin around town killin ppl. hehe

just for the quest based jedi system, maybe now i'll get my grandma and playa wookie.

rofl, honestly how hard can a quest be?

1. read a walkthrough

2. quest item needed( items ingame wont cost much. since we were already paying upto 4mil for a holo)

3. non tradeable loot ( camping time.) 0.03% drop rate. even if you afk you'll definately get it in a day.

4. fightinghigh end mobs (round up a nice group, and just leech off the kill)

5. timer ( hehe play something else till then)

hehe maybe i'm not readin it right, but it just seems to simple and easy.

even if i DID LOSE A SKILL? **edit**? lol. i heard you're able to afk macro.

and that after you die 3/5 times within a week. LMAO

even as a tka - rifleman, honestly with high encumm 80% composite. its almost impossible to die in PvE.

as a tka/rifleman i die very rarely in PvP. hehehee so **edit**?

and worst case scenario.if i did die 3x during the week. i'll just use my alt and open his slot and

play a new jedi. lol. even better. maybe i'll use him to get AP.

may the force be with EVERYONE(soon)
