I really like the idea of the village, but I have a few concerns that I'm sure others will have, too.
First i would like to see that long time players, that didn't want to grind their way to jedi, but patiently waited for a nicer and more rewarding way to be implemented, will recieve some kind of reward for their patience. As for now mostly only those are jedi, that started the soulless grinding of professions, those that actually didn't really played the game, but grinded it and thus those that more or less don't know any other way... and as you can see in many many post, most of them still only know the way of grinding instead of playing and thus they now grind on being a jedi which leads to extreme situations like light side jedi knights who slaughter mases of innocents and stalking overts, which is a very un-jedi-like behavior.
Well, back to the village: If there is a way that needs to be unlocked first to enter that village it would be fair to give long-time-players a good lead to that so they can start to go THEIR way up to actually PLAYING a jedi, too.
But I do see, that you don't like to have another Jedi-tsunami-wave that strike on the servers. Well, I bet you will get one nonetheless with so many very desperate grinders out there at the moment
But other than that, I really really like the idea about the village
Keep up the good work!
May the Force be with you all!

I like the idea and i also hope it will be instanced to keep it from being camped. One idea might be to make it an instanced shuttle destination and 'by invitation' (i.e. you receive an IGM or somesuch as an 'invite').
There should definitely be some incentive to keep players from creatinga new character and then immediately starting on the FS-sensitive quests. Some sort of mastery more advanced than what you can get by getting into a combat group with some friends should be required in order to start and/or do the quests. I definitely would not like to see a new character just walk in and finish the quests without having to finish any other masteries. At the same time I'm totally against grinding, so it shouldn'tbe about a certain number of professions or specific professions.
I am concernedabout what will happen with skillpoints while doing the FS-sensitive quests. It sounds right now like the intention is to use sp to build up force-skills, but this will mean giving up combat/other professions. This is not going to work very well if there's a point between being a full 'normal' character (ie, a non-fs slot character today) and an FS-sensitive character where the person can't defend themselves because they have had to drop so many skills in order to get their FS-sensitivity.
Once again I'd like to repeat the strong sentiment of many who have contributed their opinions on the subject -- it's not good at all for us who have developed strong characters over the course of the last 12 months to have to deconstruct our existingplayers in order to build an 'FS' character. What about established artisans and craftsmen who keep the economy going? Is the intention really to force all of these dedicated characters to close their business, createa new character and rebuild both their skills and their customer base? There'sa very good chance that this is going to devastate the economy and force many long-time and dedicated players to leave, since they're essentially being forced to regrind their professions in order to expand their playing horizons and do something different (ie jedi). Otherwise there's a significant number of craftsmen, PvPers and others who have spent a lot of time on their character who are essentially excluded from the 'new' FS system.
Reconsider, please, the idea of unlocking the second, FS-sensitive character. I don't want to see my hard work down the drain, nor that of my weaponsmith, my mayor or my local merchant. In the long term perhaps this is an option but not for existing players who have built so muchduring over ayear.

I have always been a Believer that the the road to become a Jedi should not just be the Destination,,but the Journey,
from day 1 when i knew the holocron system i knew that it wouldnt last and the day would come,,that i would live a story to become the legendary Jedi knight...
Since the days i grew up In Anchorhead watching my Rebel brothers Butcherd by Impierials...i swore an oath to become a Brave Rebel soldier...last week we fought the largest battle seen on Ahazi,,at Shadow valley...many brave rebels died that day,,,and the Dark light is shadowing our Gallaxy.
Now i have the chance to live the legend i wanted so long ago...
and take my Fighting skills that much further..to serve what is true and just...
not many jedis fight in the GCW on my server...and i have a Score to settle with a Dark Knight...
you have made this possible for me,,,cheers :-)
its a shame about the CB/GCW push back,,,but at the end of the day,,it is just a game..and i very much still enjoy it,,,
have no Doubt i will be hunting this village down,,and starting my path to truth and Justice...
Long live the Alliance.."Ahazi"

“I don’t know. You can’t see the stars here.” Paemos complained.
“You can’t see the stars anywhere on this planet, can you? I mean with the trees and the clouds…”
Noldan stopped speaking and turned his head towards the elder, Rohak. Rohak knelt down to the ground and lifted a handful of dirt to his face. He breathed in deeply, relishing the smell.
“It’s good here. Green. Life.”
The others nodded their heads in agreement. The three men stood and looked at each other for only a moment before Rohak spoke again.
“This is where we shall begin.
The Village of Aurilia. The dream becomes reality…”
The hidden village of Aurilia (Ah-ree-lee-ah)1 was formed on a planet in the outer rim, near the Meridian Sector by a small group of like-minded Force sensitive refugees who had, for one reason or another, abandoned their old lives. They all possessed strange knacks for piloting, healing, combat or some other special ability in tune with the Force making them dangerous to the Emperor, and the rumors of a Sith Lord who held a high power amongst the Imperials.
Many of them were hunted by vicious agents of the Empire and also had dealings with the Jedi council. Some were brought forward to the Council in the old days by Jedi warriors after discovering their natural abilities while others sought out the Jedi, hoping to be trained or at least given some explanation for these strange gifts that made other people look upon them with fear or trepidation.
All of them were turned away from official Jedi training for various reasons: political ramifications, age, some did not display the qualities of a Jedi knight, and other personal reasons. This village has stood undisturbed for many, many years with the people there, living a rustic and agricultural life. They bother no one, trade with no one, and cause no trouble for the Empire, the Rebellion, or any of the various criminal organizations that exist throughout the galaxy. In this, they have hidden themselves in plain sight. They don’t do anything to actively discourage anyone from finding them, which in itself keeps them off the radar of most governments.
Though they have no formal training many of them have become quite confident in their abilities, and they have no qualms about teaching what they’ve learned to anyone who is willing to listen.
This is where you will begin your journey.

Creating a way for players to experience a mysterious but not impossibly hidden path from being “normal”to Force Sensitivity is a difficult task. Ultimately, it must be a story driven path that doesn’t go counter to the Star Wars experience, while also bending continuity in the game so that the MMO game experience can deliver a play experience that is satisfying and fun for those that do want to seek out Force Sensitivity.
Without revealing the exact path to Force sensitivity, let it be said that it is not hidden in the way that the Holocron/Professions system was hidden. The path to Force Sensitivity has underlying mechanics, but essentially it is to just play the game. It is definitely achievable, but mysterious and unknown. We don’t want people to grind anymore, so ticking off master professions will cease to be part of the equation. We may or may not reveal more as time goes on. It depends on how the flow of players through the system goes. (If too many players are pushed through the system, we may have to make additional changes based on technological needs, but if we do that, we will let you know in advance). It may not be long before you are visited by a mysterious stranger2.Once players are on the right path they will be welcomed to the village with open arms, and will be given the training they need to understand how their Force Sensitivity works.
This place is the Village of Aurilia. It is a place where a group of Force Sensitive characters have gone to have some privacy and solitude in their lives. With the Empire slaying all the Jedi it can find, Bounty Hunters tracking them for profits and shunned by galactic citizens, these sentient beings needed a refuge. This village is that refuge. The player experience is one where they too can be a character that has these abilities and is seeking both help to understand their abilities and become part of this story. The village has heroic NPC’s, rogues and enemies. There are different stories a player may pursue and different Force Sensitivities that they can develop to make their character somewhat unique.
As players use their characters to play through the Force Sensitive training, their powers will grow and they will choose their Force Sensitivities using the existing skill system by completing quests and then purchasing them with experience and skill points. An exciting new feature about this part of the process will be a new “Quest Journal”. Players will have a new user interface that will help them track the progress of their questing and also give them fictional descriptions and important information in the quest journal.
When players finish their Force Sensitivity training, they may choose to either remain simply an FS character or go on to Padawan training.

Both ideas are great. I'm looking forward to this as it makes some sense to the game. I really hope it is not all combat oriented. Also, I saw someone mention questing for force crystals, I think that is a great idea as well. It doesn't make sense to me that the crystals drop from mobs when you should be able to mine for them also.

Will the villiage be a POI (point of interest) because search night and day for it will remind me a lot about holo grinding.

All sounds great TH, but the current jedi system isnt even working properly yet. You do realise, the faster you build on a broke foundation, the faster it will crumble.

This sounds exactly like what I expected the path to Jedi to be like when it was originally announced!!
I look forward to this going live.

1. How will holo-grinders be rewarded in the new system.
2. Will we be given a jedi outright or maybe just put 99% of the way through the quests? ![]()

The Village sounds great. Have you thought about using actual players to notify new force sensitive players about the village? Instead of being approached by a mesterious stranger NPC, you could be approached by an actual player, who are themselves on force quests. I.E. (find so and so and tell them about the village) as a force sensitive quest, or would this one be too easy. Just a thought. It might generate too many visitors to a village that is supposed to be hidden. Perhaps you would have to find a candidate, by examining them, and looking for specific characteristics. If given specific perameters, you had to locate someone with just the right combination of badges or something similar, and then physically bring them back to the village. If the person you bring back meets the criteria, then they are allowed to enter, and you get credit for the quest.
Keep up the good work.
