Rebels, the penalty is:

Does this "Turned Overt" mean TEF'd or actually Declared? (5 minutes or permanent)

If it is TEF'd, how long will we be attackable?

If it is Declared, will we have to visit a faction recruiter and wait 1 hour in order to go back to covert?
Or is therea time-limit like with a TEF?

This is my question as well....

I'm a covert and I dont like PvP. I dont want to be forced into it. Something just doesnt feel right about this.

I will probably drop my rebel faction. I wont be able to play with my Rebel friends anymore.we used to hunt PvE (they like to PvP but they still PvE with me)

Happy now devs?

After all, Imperials have a 100% chance to avoid a scan, better than a Master Smuggler. So who's going to need a Master Smuggler to help move anyone's contraband?

Euh how about you smuggle for the rebel scum. So the rebels need to smuggle things. Not the imps.
Just go overt and they salute you. They wont salute rebel scum.

So they will need smuggler skills.

TH please respons ASAP

Imperial crackdown:

The cost to the imps especially overt is non exsitant. However that does make sense to me since it is in fact an imperial crack down.

Now this needs to be clarified on the rebel side:
Covert: Covert Rebels will be identified to all surrounding Imperials (Turned Overt)

Will we really be overt or a TEF.

If it will make you truly overt that has a HUGE gameplay issue.

I think it is fair to assume that the imperial crackdown could spread to more cities.

Now the community views overtness as PVP on and off. What this is saying is that If I get scanned I am overt. Which means if i am out hunting, servicing extratcors, drop into a cantina or whatever and not in the PVP mood I must now find a rebel recruiter, undeclare and lose an hour of game time (not real time). If I can get to one safely which will be hard with more overt imps out there. And since decay is not removed from PVP we will probably always get killed and get decay when we did not want toPVP anyway.

Now I think all including myself can deal with a TEF. We can use our smarts to avoid getting killed. But forcing people into PVP is bad. Also forcing them to lose an hour of game time is bad.

There are many in both factions that do not like PVP and you are forcing them to. One could argue that giving a TEF does the same thing. The answer to that is it can, but the player can attempt to use his/her smarts to avoid it and avoid the decayeven thoughmore overt imps will be out there.

Please clarify and also if it is true overtness please bring the game play issue to the devs as soon as possible.

will there be the imperial storm trooper voices implemented back in the game.

I loved the occasional "Move along move along" or how about the word "Halt" during a search

What Scoooter said about TEFs or Overt.

A TEF, I could deal with, and would actually be kinda fun. Basically, I'd keep my sliced stuff in the closet if I'm just going into town on business (note to self: get a decent unsliced pistol!) If I'm carrying the stuff, I'll be in my "combat mode" and doing missions or something, and thus more or less prepared for the consequences.

Getting a temporary TEF would be kinda fun to deal with - should I run or fight? Any potential allies around? But forced into Overt strikes me as unfun, as I'm forced to be vulnerable to 133t Imperial PvP griefer type d00ds who I can't possibly hope to defeat, for extended periods of time until I can get to a recruiter to go covert again.

Oh, and can anybody clarify the difference (if any?) between "shakedown" and "crackdown?"

Of course Rebels will still be Smugglers. A Smuggler will be a Rebel's best friend after the Imperial Crackdown, actually.

Thumbs up to the Dev Team for making these changes!

It's about time the Galaxy started feeling like the Empire was in control of things. Maybe I can actually walk around overt without getting killed 1 minute later, now.

/applaud Thunderheart and the Devs

You threw the plan out there andwe shredded it... nothing new there! lol

You heard our outcry over the decay issue and lessoned the impact...which I saw as a good sign... and then this timeyou clearly listened to our arguments and(sometimes!) constructive criticism.Having read this thread, I'm convinced you guyshave made the Imperial Crackdowninto somethingthat will be of an enormous benefit to both the game mechanics and also the immersion.

I'm very impressed, I hope this is the shape of things to come... congrats to all at SOE for taking this new approach.

Maybe now those 'devs never listen' posts will subside.

Thanks guys... you listened... and we appreciate it

Oh, and guys....

SOE doesn't force you into PvP. You made a *choice* to play Rebel or Imperial. If you stay neutral then you would never have to worry about getting a TEF flag. When you sign up Rebel or Imperial you're agreeing to enter the PvP conflict.

They're not forcing a TEF flag on anyone, here.

TEF or Overt doesn't really matter in the scope of zoning into a city like Theed as a covert contraband-carrying rebel. Having been forced into PvP by the scan, You're dead. End of story. Starport camping will be at it's most extreme... just wait and see. Now, a single Imperial can hang out and actually have NPC SUPPORT available to kill you.

Negative. The choice is made between Overt and Covert status as to weather you PvP. Been that way from day one. The TEF is a logical step given when you attack a factioned target (thus giving consent to having to deal with that faction). By not attacking fationed targets, you do not gain a TEF. Now, simply carrying items (which currently do NOT show weather they are sliced or not) will result in being FORCED into PvP, because the majority of these scans will be at STARPORTS.

Zone into Coronet as an overt in any faction, and watch what happens.

Sometimes I wonder if people have ever actually watched the origional trilogybefore playing this.

If Han Solo dressed up in a full suit of sliced battle armor and had a heavily modified weapon and went prancing around in a major city on any core world he would have been slaughtered by Stormtrooper guards within seconds. The Empire ruled the core worlds. Even Corellia had a starship construction yard orbiting it.

So you have to watch your <backside> when you enter a city now. Big deal.

this all sounds good to me, but is there any chance of rewriting the stormtrooper cantina dialogue? get shaked down in a cantina means a stormtrooper comes up to you and has a long, pointless, and entirely inappropriate conversation. he talks about how he feels about rebels and why princess leia would join the alliance. he goes on and on about how spoiled the nobles are and how he doesnt like criminals.

would any stormtrooper ever say that?

p.s. the dialogue is basically the same every shakedown. this is lamentable. cant you write real dialogue? this seemed like a joke, because someone had to have sat down and thought it was a good idea to write that.

it would be a lot better if the came in and said, "there are suspected rebels in the area," and then looked around the cantina. if they found one they would say, "there he is! blast him!" and if not, "move along, move along."

these are things stormtroopers actually would say, and it would make it a lot less of a joke.

oh also, if there is a shakedown in a cantina, you can just run away without any penalty. also a joke. "dont make any sudden moves," says tk-118. i turn and run. nothing.

so, ya. any information on this before it goes live?

Thanks Developers for listening to feedback and making appropriate changes. Changes that are right in line with the way the Star Wars Universe should be.

I appreciate the fact that you weigh each post for what it's worth... I read through a good number of replies and was both pleased and somewhat disturbed by complaints made mostly by rebel players.

What I would like to say to them is: Did you even see the movies? Read the books?

The Theme of StarWars is the Rebel Alliance struggling against Imperial oppression. I doubt when the citizens complained to the Emperor about unfair treatment itwas not considered... thus the rebellion.

So I am both pleased with complaints... because that is the exact reaction you should have when Imperial loyalists are shown prevalence over the general populace. Disturbed... because why did you want to be a rebel in the first place? The rebellion is all about struggle.

As far as smugglers... hey smuggling is an illegal anddangerous business... it should make things a little more dangerous and exciting for those rebel smugglers... wow as it should be.... unless you have the right Imperial connections. . . or are on the Imperial payroll...

Hopefully there will be annotations on weapons/armor that is sliced... You don't want to "accidentally" purchase illegal goods right... and since weapons and armor display the makers mark and serial number. . . hehe it would be interesting to see some shakedowns on manufacturers who might be supplying weapons to rebel scum hehehe

Last... I think a TEF would be in line if a Covert Imperial Officer reveals his credentials in order to bypass a checkpoint... makes sense.

I for one am glad to see things like this occuring... the ominous presence of the Empire will start to be felt... finally.

Rebels should be happy... WOW they will have something to rebel against =)
