I only did two, but was assuming I'd get 8 skill boxes completed at village. I just completed the melee quest and went to Paemos to get trained and to my disgust I got nada. Im not expecting a jedi to be handed to me, however as a player from day 1 who did a few holos I expect to be ahead of a newb who just enters the village. As it stands now, I wont be sticking around if this doesnt change. I played the game for fun although I always wanted to be a jedi. I should at least receive some credit for doing two holos like we were led to believe.
You did *two* holocrons? You should be ahead of a noob, not not by very much at all, so I wouldn't expect much.
Besides, the devs may not have implemented your system yet. I certainly haven't seen anything about it in patch notes. Wait and see.

The number of professions shouldn't matter. The progression towards jedi should be scaled and credited from the old system to the new.
32 professions = Jedi
30 professions = 93% complete
If you mastered 30 professions in the old system you should get 93% of the XP needed in the new system. Please don't make me start back at square one.
Intro Quest: This is where the old man meets you the first time and starts you on the path to get the village. To complete this is like 20 mins.
Exit Quest is where the Old Man meets you again and sends to to attack a 55K HAM 80% resists NPC. deending on skills that all varies time wise on you.

Now as has been stated before this is how it should be for non unlockers
1 Holocron = 20% of the boxes and the xp for those boxes 5 boxes and 1,275,000 FS XP
2 Holocrons = 40% of the Boxes and the xp for those boxes 10 Boxes and 2,550,000 FS XP
3 Holocrons = 60% of the boxes and the xp for those boxes 15 Boxes and 3,825,000 FS XP
4 Holocrons = 80% of the boxes and the xp for those boxes 20 Boxes and 5,100,000 FS XP
Now this leaves all the professions people grinded trying to find the elusive Silent Profession. Instead of saying they arent worth anything Have them Turn in FS XP. not box unlocks just XP to put towards boxes in the branches you unlock from the quests you need to do. Maybe have it so each profession is worth 100,000 FS XP. This way All Hologrinders get the same credit for the Holocrons in branch and XP unlocks. But then the People Who Grinded all the extra professions trying to Unlock would recieve credit for those other professions simply in xp instead of more unlocks.
Sandsifter wrote:Why shouldnt I be farther ahead than a newb ? I should be penalized for an inept system designed by Ralph Koster ? I should be penalized because of an xp cap I reached 10 months ago ? I should be penalized for "playing the game" like SOE advises me to do ?I expect 8 skill boxes completed for my 2 holos leaving me 16 to go. I will accept nothing less or Im gone for good. Devs promised us credit for our hologrind, somehow this got mixed up with unlockers assuming it only meant them. Any holo completed should get credit for it.
Whoa there. I said you *SHOULD* get credit. Do I think you should get as much as you want? No, that's not reasonable. 2 holo professions isn't worth 8 full skill boxes. Of course, that's just my opinion and I don't code for SOE.
But you're right, everyone who holo professions should get credit. I just think you're asking for entirely too much of it, and I suspect you're in for a disappointing patch day.

Well wish i could actually say that this is a good system in place. I started my grind Dec 2003 and am now on Profession #30 which will be complete today, MBH. Yet still no Unlock Message. My Guildies all Message me today telling me to hop over on the testcenter2 that our server image was over there, but when i arrive and start the quest, the old man and the village, yes i get 5 unlocks, yet i dont have enough XP after 30 Professions to buy my last row. I dont know about the rest of you but after $144.00+ and the endless hours of grinding trying to reach my goal of jedi, i find this to be very dissappointing. When you grind a Profession and unlearn the profession you loose the Xp, minus the Combat stuff like unarmed and combat xp, so i dont think the XP trade in is fair if you have learned as many professions as i have, and had the XP taken after you unlearn as part of the old hologrind. I started this game to achieve a Jedi Status, i mean what is Star Wars Without a lightsaber, Ummm Star Trek?Did all 4 Holos, none silent, and at 30 professions you mean i still havent found that 1 silent holo. I feel cheated and very scornful to the devs for extending the holo grind to the point now of moving it one step further and maybe another 45$ away from my reach. I would love to see the programming notes on the holo system since we dont have to do it anymore and the server update notes from the Admin side to see really How many professions had tohave mastered, and how many silent holos we REALLY had to find. There have been rumors spread about 8 silent professions, is this true, is it to contain the jedi population or to further the payments to SOE?

major bug found:
it seems that if you buy a branch with your holocredit, and then do the quest to unlock that branch, you cannot complete it.
i trained melee speed, as well as another guy i know. we did the quest for dageerin wich unlocks the melee speed tree. after completeing all 8 missions (seperatly) we returned to dageerin like the quest waypoint says. when you speak to him, he gives you the completion message: says he unlocked the melee speed tree for you and gave you a reward in you inventory... only you dont get the reward, and the quest doesnt complete in your journal (nor does the orange waypoint on him disapear)
i realy realy realy hope this bug is fixed before it goes live, its not fair that hologrinders should missout on the great rewards from these missions

i would also like to use this thread to complain to the devs about pre-badge credit... i mastered 5 classes before they had class badges, and it seems i loose a whole treeof holocredit because of it! i did the grinding, its not my fault they didnt have badges for it then... since unlocking was based on proffessions before, they must have a way of tracking what you mastered beyond stupid badges...

I am glad that those of us who have grinded are getting compensation, I am also hoping todays Friday feature covers this in more detail.
For my two cents I would like to say teh goal her should be to compensate all people fairly with soem Jedi abilities.
As a Holo gridner on #27 now i hope ot be compensated quite well. but not given as much as a post 9 unlocker.
I hope post 9 unlockers get exactl;y what those pre 9 got, that was what was promised to them.
I also hope that people that have grinded just holos are rewarded to soem extent also. though not as much as someone who grnded 30 proffesions.
I would say if you ground all holos then you should get to choose to skip quests or skips eome quests adn fill some boxes in.
I also strongly feel that those whochose a proffesion, stuck with it, and supported those of us who didn't darn sure deserve some good appreciation for this.
Especialy the crafters who supported us, Armor, Weps, Arch, etc. IF they have mainted the community for a good time then the amount of wares/itmes they sold should be granted towards jedi xp.
