Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 4-19-04)
Ongoing issues...
- Sit on a chair, and slide off it.
- Sit on the floor, and slide across the room.
- Dismount a vehicle, and end up 30mm away from it.
- Dismount a vehicle, and have it drive 100m in the direction you just came.
- Dismount a vehicle, and have it disappear.
- Pets disappearing in combat.
- Pets warping back to their calling point.
- Corpses disappearing the moment the creature dies.
- Mounts not following when on foot.
- Guns causing more damage to the player than the creature that's attacking them.
- Guns decaying at an accelerated rate.
- Weapon repairs causing a reduction of overall condition 9 times out of 10.
- Cities unable to remove abandonded houses.
- Vendors eating maintenance at an accelerated rate. (March 31st, I added 31 days of maint -- which should take me to April 30th. But now, on April 12th, my vendors tell me they only have 11 days of maintenance remaining.)
- What's the point of armors other than Composite? (Everybody and their friggin' brother wears it.) Will the other armors ever be meaningful?

d) Stat buffing: The common 'L33T' PvP templated character now run around with maxed mind, and minimum action and health stats since a good doctors buff can easily add 2500 or more to these stats. Base 400 + 2500 = 2900, 7 times the base stat.
Suggestion: Allow buffing to be a % of the base stat. A excellent quality D buff pack could result in 150% of the base, where Janta blood etc... would allow for up to 200% (hard cap) buff on a statistc. This will ensure players have to make wise and balanced decisions on how they buff their stats. It also ensure that 'super armor and super buffs' does not result in endless PvP where dmg is reduced so low, that a stat buff regenerates it as fast as damage is taken.
I believe these changes would be a great improvement to the current PvP and Buff system.

flat doc buffsare upsettingoverall game balance = make them % base like Entbuffs
-the meatbags all wearing composite armor (even Jedi!) = see post in last disc. thread about makingall armor[including faction] viable in having similar resists/encumberances+1-2 special protections &1-2 vulnerabilities varying by armor, and therefore add. counters beyond stun/composite and DoTs/armor in general/food
--CMs' area mind poison + area mind disease discouraging PvP = give strongest air filtration suites to helmets
HQs need to do more if we are going to bother replacing them/fight wars over them (add blast doors, watch towers, crafter bonuses, spawn NPCs with good loot to attack them, etc.)
Bring back NPC strongholds, fix Dynamic POI's
I would really like to see some city/political interface improvements. If I could just get an alphabetical list of my citizens, I think I could be a much more effective mayor.
Please. Let's just start with an alphabetical/sortable Citizen Report.
There is alot of confusion aruond the doc proffesion and I imagine this reaches into other proffeions.
Why do skill tapes for +wound treatment when dropped into BE +wound treatment clothing, the skill tape stats go *poof*, half a mil down the drain on that skill tape I just destroyed.
Whats the max skill level cap on stuff, for example Wound Treatment. Does food stack on skill tapes and then stack on clothing or no?
I spend most of my time in SWg lookin for skill tapes, I would like to know if they are worth anything. More-over I wish there was a friday feature or something of the sort that explained how this worked for all proffesions, what caps are etc.. some kind of minidocument or something.
Lot 1: Small naboo house - Rori -4500, -2500 (create waypoint)

I agree this would be cool, [Lot Info] but it's impossible.
When no one is around, structures do not exist. They only load when someone is in the area. So you cannot get info on status when it is non-existant. I suppose it would be possible to have locations though, or just make structure waypoints undeletable.
The following information is available, even while the structure is :not loaded" It does not change
Lot 2: Equipment Factory - Rori -4500, -2600 (create waypoint)
Lot 3: Food and Chemical Factory - Rori -4500, -2550 (create waypoint)
Lot 4,5: Small Generic house - Corellia 2200, -1500 (create waypoint)
Lot 6: BER14 Fusion Generator - Talus 350, 781 (create waypoint)
Lot 7: BER14 Mineral Harvestor - Tatooine 3256 4567 (create waypoint)
Lot 8: (empty)
Lot 9: (empty)
Lot 10: (empty)

OK, here's what we are going to do in tomorrow's update:
You will get 75 items per lot, instead of 25, up to a max of 250 items per house.
No vendors nor their contents will count against the house limit.
Factory crates will count as 1 volume, not 5.
We realize this doesn't get you all the way back to where you were, but it should improve the situation. A fuller solution cannot be accomplished by the morning, which is why we're only going this far. We want to do as much as we can as quickly as we can.
There are other things that we can and will be doing, but they will take longer.
(Since I am sure someone will ask: why not just roll back the code? Because it was multiple integrations and changelists, and it'd be somewhat hairy. This is safer).

I am going to ask my questions in order of the statements from Holocron.
What is the "fuller solution"?
When can we expect to see it?
What "other things" have you done to deal with this issue and what is still to come?
So, can you please tell me and the community if and when you:
Can just up the items per lot some?
Can not have a hard cap for large houses and PA Halls and such?
Axiously awaiting your reply

Merchant Issue:
Please take empty vendors off the planetary advertisingvendor list!
Both shoppers and merchants are hurt when someone comes across an empty vendor. No one returns to an empty vendor and it wastes the shopper's time and the legit merchant suffers from loss of potential business. The only one this system favors is the holo grinder.
There are some vendors that have been empty for several months after their owner left the game but continue to be on the planetary map because the vendor still has credits. This really needs to be looked at. Thanks.

Man, less than 10 minutes on the board and you people are already lighting him up. Everything isnt going to go the way you want. Either accept it the way it is, and try to fix it by providing honest thoughtful feedback that the devs can use, or just leave. The devs are doing eveything they can to make this game fun for everyone in the world. Not everyone in the world has the same idea of fun so thats a hard thing to do. Give them a break.
If the devs are doing everything they can....its time to get new devs....
We would like to see a GCW revamp before a jedi revamp. If not that how about a profession balance?
Oh also a couple GCW bugs is:
-HQ guards attacking base turrets
- Faction pets still do not even help attack TEF'd enemy players
Also a few things, you nerf the heck out of the AT ST not allowing us to heal it since it is not dubbed a creature pet, yet it still has a HAM bar. Also before you were enlisted in the Dev ranks factional & creature pets took a nerf losing all armor ratings when the game was still in it's infancy and very few master elite professions. I knew this was premature, but the question/suggestion is how about restoring armor ratings to both and even beef them up again so they don't die in one shot in PvP?
The claim by Q-3PO was that an elite profession should always have a 50/50 chance of beating any pet... may be the case at master marksman but just a joke now. I also would like to ask that you allow 3 faction pets at officer at the least and maybe even more at colonel (Still only one AT ST ever though). The reason I am asking for this is because you guys took almost all the fun out of having a factional pet... they die far to easily but people still have them to have a little immersion.
I do realize you guys have your plates full with space expansion, but I would strongly suggest you work on GCW before jedi revamp, before the next dungeon even! Corellian corvette does sound really nice but how many times can that be taken before being bored? GCW is a lot of people's end game... this is why they log in everyday including myself. You have to realize this.
On a final note I highly recommend you guy do a weekly or bi-weekly thing of adding something Star Wars into the game... like the Star Destroyers in orbit is a nice touch... something as easy as that. All these little things will add up!
