"It used to have 3194 HAM with 40% resists and medium armor"

Does it still have that HAM? It should be roughly three times better at tanking than the new probots then.

Thunderheart andDevelopers,

I too have been a loyal fan since beta. I love this game, but lately the lack of content is depressing. The new droid invasion came out. We saw the wallpaper and were thinking alright, we get some droidekas, and definately get me one of those droids with the gun on the wrist, and maybe a few Droids out of episode 1. What we got is a pathetically weak R2 unit. R2's were never ever created for combat. Between the failure and the holo craze, this is not how it should be. Hopefully we'll get a hotfix with more droid models to work with and hopefully the new jedi system will be an ABSOLUTE vevamp compared to this one.

What of Droid Experimentation?

This has been the worst undocumented thing in the DE profession. Effectiveness is pretty much the only one I know that does anything to change stats. Even then on the components there is no real way except something like a 99% one line experimented item to acctually know it is good due to the 90%+ quality based on resources. Speaking of resources - alot of the sub-components seem to play no part in the combines of other sub-components or final combine yet unless you are in the know you would experiment the items just in case it does matter. Again no docs on it from SOE to tell what is worth experimenting and what doesn't matter. Let alone what the experiment lines possibly change.

Today I made an ADV Probot Droid and it took me 1 hr 20 mins using mostly all 90%+ experiments to basically get the same results as what others seem to be getting on the average resource droids. I even experimented on the Level 6 Armor just in hopes that the Composite Segments I made up and experimented would have some new effect on resists. Instead I get some placeholder 40% on the droid.

Are combat modules stacking?

They seem to but the fact that the created item numbers seem to have a foriegn relation to the min/max dmg the droid does it seems tough to tell what the big differance in a few numbers is. This is especially bad with the experimentation at higher ranges being of little change. This is compounded by the fact that I am not sure once again what in the experimentation lines does what for all the various components or droid combines.

Are combat droids helpful to non-combat and new characters?
Are the Droid Damage Repair Kits and Droid Wound Repair Kits working properly?

The ADV Probot shows as Challenge Level 13. Tested him against some Huurtons and he had a normal and a scout on him. Used the Repair Kit C on him which is 992 available repair energy, no idea how the subs factor into it since they seem to have various charge stats and so on. Of the 26 I had it took 11 to kill the 2 mobs. He basically just stayed in one place and keep fighting no matter what command I gave him to try and move away from the mobs.

To me droids should move about as the controller tells them even if they are fighting. After all they are rather complex creations (especially at 1 hour + to make one with no factory parts on hand).

As for new characters due to the increased production time / resources / harvester/broker costs of droids and the former costs on them I could not see them affording a somewhat useful one without the outside help of others.

Audio you summed it up perfectly. I totally agree with everything you said.
Especially the part about the droideka art/chassis. And as a long standing
MDE I can honestly say that it feels like we just get scotch tape plastered
all over our broken profession, publish after publish, they are just trying
to patch together a Droid system that just doesn't work. They give us one
thing, and they take away 2 or 3 others, never actually giving the DE's and
gaming community what they really want.

New droids that enhance and make more enjoyable the overall playing experience.

What they have given us today is dissapointing. And I hope someone out there
is listening.

Droids might be resistant to bleed attacks but a fellow DE tested a combat against a person with a bleed DoT on the weapon (a know the looted ones) and the droid started to bleed. Other than that I can say droid armor is bugged... it goes up to 40% after first store.

I have the feeling, one of the two parties is totally incompetent.
Either the DEVs or the player.

It's all the same with every Publish. DEVs do something and player complain. Something is wrong with you guys!

Now we have to find out, which side is the bunch of idiots...

The DE boards have been stating for awhile now that this will not be a droid invasion. I understand the concern with the simple fact that was not advertised was not given. However...the probot change was necessary, and not making it retroactive was, I highly doubt, not an option at all.

There are certainly concerns, but perhas a more civil, organized response would be more appropriate to the situation. There is still another publish that is supposed to focus on droids, working towards making that one /actually/ focus on droids would probably provide the best ROI in terms of time.

Nerfing the armor was a very bad mistake. I have a lot of friends who rely on their droids to take hits while they get around (either to harvesters or other cities/vendors) and now that's virtually impossible. 15% resist, no armor... that'll last about 5 seconds against 80% of the creatures in SWG.

This supposed 'DE fix' publish is really quite pathetic. Almost all of this stuff should have been FIXES not a published 'revamp' of the profession.

Strike 1, "Imperial Crackdown" A.K.A. Faction farm...

Strike 2, "DE Publish" A.K.A. finally adding things of common sense and taking away the functionality and purpose of even having them

Quite disappointing.

You know, I wasn't paying attention when I logged in earlier today; this time I was.

I just saw the "Droid Invasion" icon.

You mean to tell me that EVERY SINGLE PLAYER to SWG is logging in to see that picture today? Of the Corellian Corvette which isn't going in for two weeks?

The R5 isn't even in that picture...Really, in spite of the changes to our profession that were obviously time consuming, did you really want to rub in our faces how bad it was?

Whilst I'm not weighing into the actual argument over what are good/bad changes (I don't have an opinion yet), these changes have been on the test center for quite some time, and it would not have taken a whole lot to read the release notes or hop onto the test center to discover these things for yourself while there was still time to be involved in the development process.

Complaining about things that have been known for some time (ie. no droidekas etc.) is counter-productive, and contributes to a whole lot of emotional wind that the developers have to sort through to actually find any bugs.

If the changes affect you so much, you should have read the notes and checked out the test center, and the test center forums before it went live.

Hey Stop Flaming!!

it was Said Many times! :

Droidicas: Publish 8

Advertising Droids: Publish 8

other High end Combat Droids: Publish 8

There is No Droid commander right now. so why should we Get Droidicas? even a droid commander can control them (cuz they are higher level 10).

in Publish 7 we got Combat droids with LEVEL 10. the level EVERYONE can control.

ok i have to say... the Armor nerf is BAD! (droids are made of Metal, and should have a high Armor ratings!)

and the Repairkits: may they're great, but THi think there are too much Modules/Rare recources we need to build them!

so far.... /bow
