Somthing i think for fans of the SW space sims ( like meself ) will really welcome the fact that Q here has spent a lot of time designing some really decent flight games. Thats a huge bonus for gamers like meself for what we think we'll see the SE play like.

It's a bit of a fair cop that the people who are keen on going to the Fan fest will get some dibs on hats in the SE beta. Don't stress too hard you lot. I got into the orignal beta and im from Australia. If you are commited like I was to get into the beta, you will find a way too. Mind you it does make ya feel for people like Shadowtrooper14 who was in the first round of the beta.

BTW with the release of the Corvette this week ill be doing some more addition to my post dealing with the SE. You can check the current draft out below.

Cheers Scoricco

I can let you know now that we will have a couple stages of beta later this year for the Space Expansion. Preference will be given to players who attend Fan Fest and then to our veteran community (those who have had active accounts for at least 6 months). Eventually we will let more people into it, including some people who have never played SWG, but our first slots will be for our most avid supporters.

Preference to those that live in America again ??? Most of us who live abroad or have there own responsibilites at home, who can't attend, yet play daily are kicked in the teeth by this careless statement!

From the EQ Fan Faires I've attended, all the attendees are hardcore people who have been with the game for a long time...

One thing I forget to mention, is that from the Veteran Community, we will likely give priority to those who have helped us regularly on Test Center. I can't stress enough how grateful we are for the guys and gals on test center.

/sigh

The problem with the test center for most people is that it's inhabited by grumpy people who have no time for outsiders. Many people have tried to start characters there and have left because of those regulars in the TC.

You want to trust the beta stage to a bunch who are often outsiders of the real game, who simply went there so they could be part of this space expansion? Nice one.... way to play into there hands!

More testing and bug finding is often done by those of us in the trenches of the real servers Q-3PO.

I am sure the 10 - 15 people of the TC who are regular will be very happy with this statement, and I am sure you will start seeing an increase of players over the next few months who will be just as upset when you don't pick them to test the SE.

All I can say Q-3PO, You just made the hole bigger... do you want to continue digging it deeper or do you want to shut up about the space expansion until there is time when you can open a general beta for ALL players, rather than the select few!

So *ahem*, if I have a forum rank of "Jedi," does that mean I get in?

Think you over react.. until they start selecting people I wouldnt expect anything. I dont care if Im select as long I get a expansion that got quailty and worth paying for.

Im been around sens beta and I would love to be part of the beta, but in the end I care more about the final product

shotoyan, the space expansion will have a lot of different code than the regular game until we are ready for final integration (- meaning, the purpose of TC is to test changes for the live game and adding the SE before it is live may invalidate some of the testing for live stuff). That isn't to say we may not do that in the final phase of beta testing; that is still to be determined.

The comments in my letter were for the first few stages of beta testing where we will have a limited number of slots. We need to build load over time. Opening the flood gates in the first external test isn't desirable.

just for the sake of all of us that are massively addicted to this game. PLEASE test the SE on a copy of a live server before launch so it doesnt kill the game for a day or two when you guys finally meld them together.
