Thread: About Friday Features
Some features in the game people rarely use but can be very useful. Like fishing and gambling at those reoulette tables loses Battle Fatigue....ect.
>>>Some weeks will have cool new info like the mounts feature (though we have to limit doing this too much or the marketing folks will get upset at us scooping all their good press<<<
Sounds to me like it would be a perfect place for the Marketing Folks<tm> to work hand-in-hand with the developers on getting "good press" info out to everyone at once....after all, *we* the playersare still part of the marketing effort, aren't we? If your marketing people think only of people who aren't playing, it becomes the US vs. THEM mentality which I'm sure many people don't wish to be. I know I don't.
Too many company/organizationmarketing efforts or membership effortsseems to focus only on pulling them in, not keeping them here. RETENTION should be every bit as important as new blood. Give it a thought, eh?
This doesn't have to be a friday feature specifically but this is information that would solve a lot of debate in my current household. I'm curious at how mounts are going to be handeled. For instance are mounts subject to the same Creature Level requirement as normal pets. It seems understandable that this would be the case, but me and my roomate are in an argument over this.
He claims it would be rediculously restrictive to just allow non-creature handlers one or two mounts.
My outlook is that the Creature level system is already in the game why would mounts fall outside the Creature Level specifications...
PLEASE ANSWER THIS... i consider your last friday feature a little barren in terms of information... Also some information about whether the skill to train creatures as mounts is going to be a Creature Handler skill or perhaps a new elite elite proffession (which seems rediculously difficut and barren on it's own.)
FRIDAY FEATURE's have been handeled very well so far except for the mount post. I'd have rathered information than pretty pictures. )The MOVIE RULED btw(
Charachter biographies is a BAD IDEA. And screw the marketing folks because any information released inside the forums is protected correct... THAT IS WHY YOU PASSWORDED THE FORUM RIGHT?!? if not set it back to the way it was before i'm tired of having to log in.......
I would love to see some pictures of the development team and their office.
A feature that explains battlfields. It could cover:
-Locations
-How to use them (structure builder, battfield points, etc.)
-Benefits of them (why you would want to use a battlefield)
Battlefields have potential, but not enough people know where they are or how to use them.
So, the dev teams out of ideas huh? Looking to the players to save the friday feature? well no more I say! We've suffered enough without having to pick our minds for ideas of interesting friday features.
Of course, I'm only kidding.
My idea for friday features are information on quests, locations of poi's, npc's to talk tofor some extra fun (I dunno, maybe there's a static npc spawn with a cool quest or something?), and the like. Not everyone knows the locations of everything, and there might even be some stuff that people have yet to uncover that the devs could inform the players on to keep them busy.
Basically go in as much depth as possible in the lifespan of one specific change made recently, from identification of the issue to the resolution going live.
Of particular interest to me [ and I imagine the rest of the community ] are things like:
How was it prioritized?
What was the decision making process like when deciding the resolution? Who was involved?
How long did the resolution take to code [once the resolution was decided] ? Who worked on it?
How was it tested ?
What changes/fixes were made if any [ as a result of the testing ] ? How were those changes/fixed tested?
METRICS
Let us see some of the statistics on how the game is played.
hmmm - new weapons to be added to the game ... i dunno anything that is cool!
Just a suggestion...
Do a Friday Feature on Naming, Programing and Using Droids so Droid Engineers don't have to spend an hour explaining this stuff to custumers everytime we sell one. Do weaponsmiths have to explain how to use a gun? You already did one armor.
Adding one to the Holocron (and letting people know about it) in patch notes would be nice too since not everyone comes to this site.
You can include a section on all the combat droids we can make, since most people don't believe me when I tell them that the probot's the only one.
