I think I must tell you my little story about SWG and SOE.

I start a char on a recommended server, It's a big ping and lag server but It was a recommended so I though all others server have more pings and lags....More than 1 month after SOE release a patch for a bug...recommended servers was bugged the system recommend wrong servers.

So I create a new char on another server, I was close to be a Bounty Hunter, but my brother want to try the game and push the delete buttom not the create buttom (little mistake) and my char is deleted (after this soe release a patch to make harder to delete char).

I contact CSR with in-game tickets about my char deleted....no answer, they delete my post with all others tickets for updating. I re-post a ticket again....ticket not readed and deleted again...I re-re-post another ticket always no answer.

So I contact CSR by mail, they said : we are unable to restore deleted char.

During this time I play on my 1st char in the bad server with the hope than one time, I can transfer this char to another server or they restore my deleted char....

But this will never happened.....

I'm a european player playing on US servers. Will I be able to pay in €? Those change taxes are annoying, as is the additional VAT we must pay.

Best way to deal with the tall guys is to give them incentives to lick the ground. And dont look down on me that way youre not THAT taller.

Just one question:

Q: Will (at least some of) the european servers be flaged for different languages? Will there be official servers for german, french, english...?

I guess it would be a very bad idea for me to move to european servers just to see many different languages i cant understand. With official europe sales of swg there will be many people joining the servers without much knowledge of english language (not that i'm good in english myself, but talking to 12 year old italiens or greek wouldnt be possible for me in most cases, i guess).

Another little thing...If I wait 6 months for a supposed release of atransfer system....I must pay 6 others months to play on a bad server...and for me I can play only 5-6 hours by months now (if I forget to ear and drink) I have really a lot of work....I haven't the 35 hours week in my country.

No one forces you to play 6 months on a bad server. Just click the "cancel account" button and wait 6 months. Problem solved.

Me, I love the fact that everyone will start out fresh on the euro servers. I guess the ones whining the most about no character transfers are the ub4r 1337 d00dz, but I think we are much better off without them anyway.

WOW! greater than I thought!

only 3 questions for me left:

Q1: When will be able to transfer our Char? (I hope very soon :-))

Q2: How can we be sure, that the EuroServers really have less lag? and if not can we transfer our chars back again too?

Q3: How/and when do we subscript for the Euro-Servers? o that u know how many ppl will go there?

thx in advance

A last question I don't see covered:

How will you provide customer support to the European servers? You gonna follow the well-trodden route of doing it in-house from the US? I remember Funcom did that for European AO - so customer support was at odd times for European players.

Or you gonna do it like Blizzard? 9am to 6pm Californian time only?

Are we going to see the same ordeal that we saw on the initial release. What I mean is, for those of us who are already established, will the servers be constantly being overloaded again?

Make a new character on the european server and check it out. If you like it, transfer your old char to the euroserver when you are allowed too.

i can not stress enough how much of a bad idea an early transfer or characters would be. my PA is entirely european. even if we were to go with empty datapads, empty inventory and no credits it would take us very short time to dominate a server and make fun for those newbs out there disapear. the master crafters sample the first bit ot harvesters in no time which in turn churn out more harvesters to get the materials flowing. the TKA and CH masters go out and find some grauls/rancors/meriks/whatever and grind some missions while the first weapons are produced which in turn will make moneymaking even faster. within a few days every master item that is possible to craft with the resources at hand will be in vendors. great fun for the beginners (especially the crafters)? i think not.

now we are not planning on doing this, but someone surely will...

I hope for three things, two that have already been mentioned.

1. none of these VAT taxes (Not sure how it really works though), but doesnt Sony have european branches or something you could pay to instead of the american?

2. Downtimes at local "low times". As many others I find it frustrating at times that the servers go down in the afternoon.

3. MULTIPLE european servers, the simple explanation of the major issues with Eclipse is no doubt that server being named the "unofficial european server". A lot of people in Europe got the game at the american release, a lot of them went to the unofficial european server. A lot more people than the american servers had to handle, because there were so many american servers. Dont do the same mistake as UO, Two european servers, one which was almost exclusively german speaking. The other one was way too crowded

Well, best would be to allow immediate transfer to only one european server. Players with US version can therefore enjoy their hard worked characters, and new players can start on fresh servers.

I dont see the point of transfering in a few months time. By then you will have proably made a new char on the server and played him quite a bit. Since you can only have 1 char per server then youd have to delete himbefore youmove your old guy over.

It would make more sense to have 1 server that people can move to and make sure it is flagged as such so newbies can avoid it if they want.

Thanks for the info.

I personally am looking forward to an Australian server, Melbourne preferably.
