Thread: Some Info on the European Launch
I'm very pleased by the way choseto manage the european servers.
Here is my question : Is there any ETA of thecharacter copy? 1 month ? 6 months ? 1 year ?
That's the right way to handle euro servers, I agree on that. Couldn't have been better. But the no transfer thing just sucks!
As I see it, we euros have two alternatives now that transfers wont happen from start.
A)Keep playing on the US servers and never bother with the euro servers.
B) Take a months break from SWG and try to forgetthe work we've already done.Start from scrath ina month on the euro servers.
What's is the point of having transfers in the future if they aren't in from start? I see no point in this really, it won't do any good to have pepole transfering in master this and master that in the future. It will only upset people already on the server...

I really dont get the complaining about no char transfers, imagine you're a European who couldn't/wouldn't import it, you get your box, start the game on day 1 deciding to be an Artisan (for example) and as you login there is a Master Artisan stood next to you. So all the while you are grinding up this guy has picked the best spot for his shop, is harvesting the best resources, in fact he will have his shop open long before you even hit master, i'd be as pissed as hell if I was the new guy who'd just shelled out his money. I *chose* to get the US version just like everyone else, that choice meanswe accept starting from scratch on the Euro servers.
More importantly, will the Austrialian release change the language of NPC quests?

TeeBee, If you have the time and the money to restart each time a new char....It's great for you.
But I haven't the time and the money to spend 3 months (or more) again to make my char.

I'll probably cancel my subscription before european servers will be online.
You can play on a European server if you like just not with your existing character. Just like swapping between the exisiting servers isn't possible. Are you surprised?
It would have been nice to get all the existing euro players onto one server leaving the rest fresh, but it's not happening.
Shug did say that they want to allow transfers, but they are still working on it (can't be an easy task). I think it would be unfair on the people who have waited for the euro release if they switched on and saw a master whatever on the first day.
I relish the fact that there will be a brand new server. What time/date is it opening? I'm going to be there!
By allowing everyone access to all servers, SOE are giving you more not less.

Yes! This is exactly the set-up I was hoping! One game for all..servers for all..updates on time for all !
No need for complications regarding to which servers we should play etc
I am in Europe but I will continue play my characters in my current server (main character is Starsider, Entertainer in Bloodfin)...Maybe I will create a new one in a Euro server (different profession) in order to be able to participate in player or devs events in more logical times (due to time zone differences)...

1-2 years ?
If they do the same as EQ, 6 months. Should be long enough for the server to establish itself.
