Thread: Weekly Roundtable Discussion (Week Ending 3-1-04)
Has anyone noticed any bugs with the store function when using an AT-ST.
I was fighting some rebel players at the weekend with my AT-ST and when I diedand clonedI couldnt store the AT-ST. I even went up to it and tried storing it that way, but it still wouldnt store.
At the time I had reverted back to covert status (due to the cloning)so no rebel players were attacking me, but my AT-ST was still being attacked.
Needless to say my AT-ST was destroyed as there was no way I could store it.
I think this might be a recent problem as I have had no problem storing before.
So this bug has costed me over 9000 faction points.

Publish 6 has been great in terms of new content, Imperial presence, and better loot, but there are some problems. Many of the old UI bugs, which I think alot of players have patiently waited for fixes on, are still in the system.
First, there are numerous bugs with the game which need to be addressed as soon as possible. I have bugged these all, but I wanted to include them here.
If you activate a POI wp and travel to another planet, the wp will still be active and there is no way to turn it off.
The new buff timer is great, but I swear there is a crash bug associated with it. I crash within 5 minutes of being buffed all the time. Also, if your client does crash after receiving buffs, when you re-log the buffs will not display in the timer window. They will still be active on your character, but not show up.
Numerous other crashes that still plague many players, myself included. It cant just be all of our computers.
The chat server still spams "channel information complete" on a constant basis. After Q's post a few weeks back about stabilizing the system, I think this should be fixed.
Server performance is horrible, at least on Ahazi. I realise there may be a technological barrier here, but SWG still readily accepts new accounts. If the game is reaching capacity, then you should not keep expanding the population on the servers.
Related to server performance I think, but it seems that since the patch there is a chance missions will not spawn again. This was an old problem that went away, and now is back.
There are still strange "can't see your target errors" in game. It seems that many static objects have footprints much larger than the object itself. It is annoying and detracts from the ambiance of the game.
I'm sure there are a couple dozen more which I can't think of right now, but you get the idea. I think the team is doing a great job, but these bugs have plagued the system through several patches now. It gets frustrating because I expect a patch to fix these issues, but it seems each new patch brings 2 new bugs to replace 1 old bug. I just hope that some of these things will be sorted out soon.
Thanks for reading, and great job again.
a) We don't have to keep telling you the same thing
b) We can avoid potential problems by being forewarned of various issues.
I just want to bring up the fact that I feel the game is getting worse with each individual publish. I know they are reworking the whole combat balance issues and it takes time to get everything adjusted.
With all the adjustments, honest solo play is being eliminated completely while AFK looters are making it rich with SEA's. Add to the fact how the holo-grind has brought the GCW to asemi-halt. I've seen guilds broken up because after our christmas giftseveryone is so interested in opening their slot.It seems the game is being geared more to the exploiters than truely great players who spend their time and devotion to their professions.
Users are being forced to group with friends or unknowns to battle the big beasts of the server and even some of the lesser beasts. I can deal with this. However, you have to contend with ninja looters and smaller harvests. Is it really worth wasting your time with a group if you can't even loot?
AFK looters are ruining the game by camping POI's known to have great loot. There is no in-game mechanic to loot piles or mag-seals, so obviously they are using third party tools to macro their looting. They then take these SEA's they get and sell them for millions on their vendor. I've seen +1 and +2 attachments sell for two million credits.
Holo-grinding is the worst thing that has happend on the server. I've seen guilds compelety break up because half of the guild wants to holo-grind the other half wants to PvP. I've even been taken into the whole holo-grind, but I have another char to fall back on for PvP purposes, and have been taking my time with the holo grinds. One thing I have noticed with my guild though is a lot of our members are making alts for pure crafting! SOE, what a great strategy, get everyone hooked on crafting and PvP so they have to buy a second account to fully enjoy both.
As far as exploiting goes, I've read many threads on how users have been banned or warned by CSR's for using specials and calling that an exploit. Later down the line, these use of specials are nerfed rendering that profession practically useless. Carbineer is a perfect example of this. The only viable special for defense was /chargeshot, therefore it was the most used and often spammed by players. The dev's nerfed it after numerous complaints.
So what can SOE do to make this game better besides bringing in LAG inducing, faction-farming content?
Looting & Harvesting: Add group-notification or take other considerations being brought into this forum and modify the current system to rid the Ninja Looters. Don't decrease the harvests for groups, keep them the same or increase them.
AFK Looting: Get CSR's to frequent the POI's. Actually ban/warn those violating the EULA by using 3rd party macro tools. BONUS: No coding involved! Another possible solution would be to add a timer similar to the ones merchants add to their houses that boot you from their homes after a set amount of time.
Holo-Grinding: I think SOE may be on the right track, maybe a little bit late however.
Exploiters: Get CSR's to frequently wander the Krayt Graveyard and other sites where these exploits arefrequent and spend less time harassing honest players using specials. BONUS: No coding involved! Fix combat specials before nerfing the only working ones.
Well, these are my issues with SWG and a strong indication that I will be leaving the game once WoW is released or I am accepted for beta. I've already lost a few great friends in-game because of these issues and the lack of resolution.
- Vehicle coloring only sticks the first time you apply it. ie You color trim blue, then you color trim red. It still shows up as blue.
-Vehicle coloring is fading way to quick. My vehicle is back to normal already. At least let it last a month or 2.
what do you mean stealth-nerf the jedi unlock process?
Am I grinding professions for nothing now!?!?!
TH,
Please give us a "yes" or a no on the method.
I just hope since you guys have said nothing so far that it remains the same. So many people are putting all of their time and effort into this and areneglecting real life. I think we atleast deserve a yes or no.
In advance thank you for understanding

In light of the talk about smugglers lately with the crackdown issues, I would like to bring something up.
I think it would be a great addition to the profession if some unarmed skills were added to the dirty fighting line.
Unarmed skill is required to attain novice smuggler, but never used thereafter.
We could add in some cheap shots or something.. nothing too powerful, but stuff to add viability, RP, and fun!
