How will an average rebel trooper know the difference between a light and a dark jedi, unless the light jedi is known to them, and if the light jedi is known to them why do they need to scan them in the first place?

you might demand reality in you computer games, but you wont allways like the answers.

Trooper1: Look a guy with a lightsaber.....

Trooper2: is he light or dark?

Trooper1: I dont know never seen him before.....

Trooper2: Checkthebulletin board over his head quickly.

Trooper1: ah no worry he is on our side, must be light then i guess.

Trooper2: would not a jedi be able to mess with our head like they say in the briefing then?

Trooper1: your right, better take him out anyway, least we be alive to be yelled at.

Trooper2: yeah better sorry then wrong and dead.

A few issues tho.

1. Light jedi not hunted by Rebels? Sheesh, way to make jedi flee to the rebel side.

In a timeline where there are supposed to be no jedi, some things must be made to make it hard being a jedi. They just added that to the "dark side"..Now to add it to the light side?

2. How many Dark Jedi, would now, not be interested in making cities turn Imperial?

Helping the Empire gain power, would mean they only increase their own danger of being.."there".

Knowing how many players that look on their jedi as "god" and the only thing that matters, I suspect, we would see alot of people either bail to the rebel side, or not work toward planetary control for the Empire.

The Jedi means more than game balance, immersion and a GCW to the jedi players. Even if they got rewarded with a alt character to put it all out of whack.

So SOE has learned nothing about the equality of dark and light jedi? Why would imperials attack imperial jedi? That makes absolutely no sense.

Because there aren't supposed to be any Jedi other than Vader and Palpy.

Oh ya right that would make the game really balanced and fair, no imperial jedi allowed but the rebels can have as many as they wish.. you sir are a genius of the highest degree.

He didn't say anything about "there should be Rebel Jedi".

I think when he said "there aren't supposed to be any Jedi other than Vader and Palpy", he meant...

Additionally, if a Jedi is scanned s/he runs the risk of being exposed. Should this happen, the police may panic and call for help, bringing a very powerful force on the Jedi. Note that Imperial allied police will call forces to attack any Jedi, regardless of faction. Rebel aligned police will only call guards to attack Dark Jedi.

If that goes Life - im gone.

I have two Jedis, one is Merchant/Artisan/Armorsmith and Neutral - he cant fight but he has to go placing harvester, buy resources .. etc ...

The other is a Neutral PvE Jedi only - just a few know that he is Jedi, and no one saw him with Robe or Lighsaber out in Public. When im going to other Planets i alway equip another weapon and normal clothes. I Dont want to be forced tofight against NPCs and gain Visibility!

please re-think, i know some other Jedi thinking the same ...

Yes you are. You are forcing people to PvEagainst scanners. And don't say "then don't carry sliced stuff", because that is impossible, sliced stufff is up to 30% better. so, yes, you ARE forcing people to fight or die.

And there is no escape, not evenfor people "on leave" (which is by far the most reidiculous term I ever heard, BTW, why not just call it covert ???)

Gordon's comment was about those people who are not in a faction. If you aren't in a faction you won't be attacked from a scan.

When in doublt of being scanned... why not group with your local neighborhood Master Smuggler, and enjoy the 95% evasion ability he shares with nearby group members... just a thought..

My thoughts exactly.

What fun is watching some people who got scanned (and their friends) smoke your controlled city of all NPC's? And being totally powerless to do anything about it?

I also think the complete and total LACK of consideration for non-combat players (crafters, entertainers, what have you) to be very shameful. We have no way to defend ourselves from all of this, and it sounds like not only will we be scanned, REINFORCEMENTS show up to give us even LESS of a chance to survive an encounter. I already pity the Armorsmith who makes a vendor run and gets ganked and all his new armor is slightly decayed.

I don't look forward to being a non-combatant in this new system of NPC gankfests. I ended up with negative CorSec faction for going up on the Corellian Corvette once. As it stands now, CorSecs shoot at me every so often, sometimes a few at once. Sounds like I'll get detachments of CorSecs ganking me if I step foot in Coronet Cantina and get scanned. WHAT FUN - can't wait to play some music in there!

What about the non-combatants? Is our new place in this game to just...die for past mistakes before this new system was put in place? Though faction standing was a factor before, it sounds like it's going to be a nightmare now. What a hoot for the non-combatant, and what little fun to have whilejust trying to make a delivery or run your business.

Sorry to rain on the Combat people's parade, but there are lots of us who can barely handle a CDEF pistol. Think what you want of us, but we're not Combat people, and before this change was announced, it seemed like a viable way to play SWG.

I don't mean to come off harsh with this, but if you are not a combatant, dont join the war. I cant remember all of the changes but isnt there the civilian status you can go to, where you wont have to worry about rebel or imperials "ganking" you since you wont get set "overt" (or PvE Combatant I believe) to the npcs.

But my main response to your complain is...if you cant fight in the war, don't join it.

I NEVER JOINED A WAR.

I am neutral. Never once did I mention specificallyI would get ganked by any member of the Rebellion or the Empire. Those are NOT the only 2 factions that will affect these changes...people need to understand this.

I have faction rankings for various NPC's. One visit to the Corellian Corvette has put me at negative CorSec faction. I will therefore be unable to stand anywhere in Coronet once this system goes in, for deliveries, for business, for pleasure, for playing music/buffing in Coronet Cantina, etc. I will be scanned and I will be attacked, and reinforcements will be called on me, all while the only weapon I possess is a freakin' Slitherhorn.

This is not about the war. I want nothing to do with the war. I am just trying to run a business in this game.

This is about factional NPC's ganking me, just as I explained it, and just as Callandryl laid out in the thread. Please re-read and you will see what I mean. This is NOT just Rebel vs. Imperial, this is EVERY single NPC that has a faction attached to it, depending on the controlled city you entered.

OK, you are right, I must have read this a bit wrong before. One thing I do hope is that they do reset faction points or revamp the current faction point system along into this new one.

However, to counter your agruement. You did in fact join the war, to an extent. You knownly went on the corvette and killed CorSec. From an RP standpoint you should accept the resonsibility that came with that. I know that you dont have all that negatives from killing 1 or maybe even 2 corsecs, in which case you could have stoped and left the Vette. However, you kept going and killing CorSecs, effectively waging a war on them.

You killed CorSecs, now they want your blood.

Just something to think about....

But like i said, i hope they reset all faction point (cept rebel/imperial)or at least negatives ones to 0.

Problem with the Rebel/Imperial scans and crackdown. I fear this may be a bad step. Meaning that it will not be a good enough seperation between the factions. Rebel or Imperial, it will be the same behavior, just with different text.

The Imperial scans and such should be instrusive and benefit Imperial PC's and punish the Rebel PC's, just as the Rebel scans and such should be polite, respective and benefit Rebels in a much more subtle way, and be punishing to Imperial PC's.

I don't think it fits right to have random scans by rebel patrols, it just doesn't seem to fit to me, as it does with Imperial scans. I hope this makes some sense...

if i was sheptical about the removal of all TEFs i'm really happy about these changes

i'm curious about a thing

is stated that imps will hunt jedis regardless of faction, this imply that dark and light jedis will no more associated to empire and rebellion?

It was SOEs decision to make FRS faction based, and allow Jedi to pick factions. As long as the Jedi are part of GCW it does not make sense for factioned troops to attack them. A Jedi that is a colonel in the Imperial Forces should command respect.

Therefore, making the Dark Jedi be attacked by ALL is an unfair decision, and it would also give the rebel Jedi an unfair advantage as well. It is already bad enought that rebels outnumber Imperials (at least on my server), and the FRS bonuses favor the rebel Jedi over Dark Jedi, this would discourage even more Jedi from choosing the Dark side.

Furthermore, in regards to JTL, trainers for the imperial track are in imperial controlled cities (eg. Bestine), doing it this way would also lock out the Dark Jedi from JTL as there would not be a spaceport city where they would be safe where they can get missions etc. So, what have they spent their $29.95 for JTL for?

And, you will be locking out Dark Jedi from major planets.

Just too unbalanced and unfair.

Gotta say I don't agree. I'm sure that the Emporer would not be too pleased with a high level military officer being a Dark Jedi. Dark Jedi are evil, conniving creatures. Heck, Vader is the Emporer's right hand and what is he about to do in Cloud City????? Oh that is right, capture Luke, try to turn him and then overthrow the Emporer.

Now, PERHAPS a compromise should come into effect. Make it so that Dark Jedi can either a) be a full fledged Dark Jedi, hiding his/her force sensitivity to the Empire, and run the risk of scans and such OR b) take a separate quest to be one of the Emporer's "Hands". You might have to sacrifice some skills points or something, maybe you can be a Master LS and a few other stuff, but not as high level as now?
