Do these revamps effect anything to do with the opening of the fs slot or simply with the development of jedi after the slot has been opened. I truly hope that even if much harder to open we can all put an end to Grinding out day in and day out for professions solely to obtain a jedi character. It has destroyed the game and as guilty as I am i truly hope its at an end :]

First off, I'd like to say good job devs, the jedi system definitly needed some tweaking. However, I think totally eliminating permadeath may be over compensating a bit. Maybe take away 2 skill boxes for every death. No matter how far in between the deaths are. Then maybe at 10 deaths = perma death, and you have to reroll your jedi.


Also I'd like to see some defensive mods added to jedi. As it is now, my character has to always wear full composite armor, and cannot think about hunting without it. Some dodge would be nice. Make it so wearing armor still helps, but hinders movement, and negates said dodge modifiers. Jedi are all about freedom of movement, and speed....I would think a jedi would have inate dodge bonuses, and be better than most all other classes in this regard, even at padawan. I have only gotten to 4,2,2,2 in the initiate trees, and my char is a pve machine yes, but not very good for pvp. I dont know if that will change at jedi knight, but I dont see myslef taking on 10 advanced players like we were all lead to believe we would be able to. That would be impossible with Zero defensive bonuses, and everyones armor resisting 80% of our light sabres.


Secondly, lightsabres need to do some sort of rare damage other than kinetic. The fact that my light sabre does the same type of damage as a club is beyond me. Make it do some blast damage, or a new type of damage, that only very, very rare armor could resist. As I stated, most players have 80% comp or ubese armor, and can easily resist light sabres.


Lastly, krayte pearls, and sabre crafting...... Jedi are not supposed to need, nor want for money, but the way it is now a jedi needs millions just to craft anything better than a training sabre. Jedi sabres should have nothing to do with rare loot drops. The way it stands now, If i dont have any crystals, or pearls, i cannot make anything better than a training sabre.


Also just to mention....I think many in this thread are jumping to conclusions. Until the statement about becoming jedi is clarafied, I wouldnt worry about your holo grinding going to waste. Even if it is going to change, its the second phase of all this, prolly take months at least. So keep doing what your doing, and good luck to you all in unlocking your slots.

I've read the phrase "rare and mysterious" so many times from the devs now that its become yet another political/marketing buzz phrase like "family values" and "working families." You say phrases that sound vaguely good the first couple times, but once you've heard them 50 times, they are absolutely meaningless.

I think the FSCS quest is a good idea, but it shouldnot the only way to get jedi. Keep the holo grinding but instead of makingthe last one silent, have it give a waypoint to the quest giver. This would solve alot of problems with everybody who have mastered more than one holo already under the current system.

I hope this isn't going to destroy the Star Wars feel of this game even more.

Cause every Jedi that appears, thefeel of Star Wars will vanish more and more.

I haven't read the 17 pages of this discussion so I doubt this will be read. This is a few thoughts about the Jedi Revamp knocked around by some people yesterday.


We agree that modification is good.


We are of the opinion that a reverse implementation is important to allow for a smooth transition.

What do we mean by reverse implementation.

Well if the devs put in the quest line from beginning to end, what will utimately happen is there will be a maximum number of jedi entering at the same time. Don't think anyone would agree this is good.


Implement the quest line in reverse, correlating the last stage to having completed your 4th holocron profession. This will allow players who are searching to the 5th profession to pickup the quest line and complete that for fullfillment of the necessary "tasks". This will also allow for the smallest number of jedi to enter the servers and allow greater management of those issues that will follow because of that.

This method will still allow people to continue the holocrons until they reach the completion of the 4th profession then they can enter the quest.


Once this is working, add the second to the last stage of the quest and 3rd holocron profession completed characters can enter at this point and the bugs can be worked out at this point. Continue this and you eventually phase out the holocrons, allow for a smooth transition to the new system. And not get a 1 time large influx of jedi characters.


The alternative is add stage 1...players do it, they stop they wait they complain...you deal with bugs from everyone not justa small group. Add stage 2, players do it, they stop, they wait, they complain...you deal with bugs....rinse repeat. With no advantage to those working within the current system for jedi achievement.

Someone said it and I like the idea of having 4 professions like now, and instead of the fifth being silent, instead you get a waypoint to the beginning of a quest that will either reveal the fifth or take the place of the fifth profession.


Keeping the need of people grinding every profession away and allowing people to spend more time rping.

Ok I just want to ask one thing.......Will characters that have already opened their fs slot lose there jedi character and have to reopen it with the new system....if so that is a horrible idea that i think will result in many canceled accounts. But i am all for removing perma death and instating a skill revocation system instead if current jedi will be able to keep their character. I would still like to see some things changed about saber crafting though being as crystals and pearls are entirely too hard to come by now that krayts are near impossible to kill without a large group and everyone seems to be collecting them now. In my opinion crystals and pearls should be an optional component to the saber crafting. I would like to see some jedi type quests to do with my jedi once perma death has been removed....since solo hunting gets kind of boring after a while.

Q,You said something about recognizing players work. Does that mean even if you've only just started on your first holo profession you will be able to continue this,with the holos. I finally aquired several holos,and I know people that spent alot of credits on theirs,will they be useless to us now?
