I hope you all do understand that just as soon as you figure out how to become a Jedi again they will change it, again, and you will be right back where you started.

Jedi is the carrot to counter the nerf stick, but the fact is SWG is far more pain then game. Or to qoute Computer Gaming World's review, "This game is drudgery".

This will in no way change that drudgery, because in stead of prof grinding you'll quest grind. Do not think for one second that it will take one moment less time or one bit less grinding to open the FS.

The poor casual gamers I've read commenting here, man are you in for a surprise because you don't stand any chance now at all. You might have over time done the Profs, maybe even got lucky and hit it quick. Now? No way, it's a series of quests, and you can bet you'll have to be truely elite in combat to survive them, with the time to run all of them. How many casual gammers fit that bill, zero and none.

Here is a fact, SOE makes money because you pay your fee every month. If they can find ways to keep you paying month after month, note FUN has nothing what so ever to dowith it, they will. Changing the requirements on Jedi fits that bill nicely, thank you very much.

Final point, if you want to open the FS slot, and you are still foolish enough to be crafting or entertaining, STOP! The only way now to open the slot is to make the best combat monster toon you can.

So, start hunting the boards for the "best" template, you're going to want to be able to quick kill most everything, to grind out the quests. Given that you don't know, and will have no clue about, which quests, be ready to do every quest in the game, every random Fed Ex run, perhaps kill everything that can be killed, talk to every single NPC and do every single thing they ask you, oh and don't forget about the story arc, you might have to have all the story arc badges, etc, etc, etc.

LOL, this is going to make the Prof grinding look like a walk in the park.

(Though I'll say it again, that is until SOE Marketing finds a reason they need some new Jedi, at that point you might get in on the next gimmie phase if you're quick and lucky. )

So, in reality newer players are getting all the benefits, what do long term people get from this game, people who have been sticking with it through all the bugs and changes to the system.

ok great, the devs read the jedi forum... TOO BAD THEY DID IT A FEW MONTHS TOO LATE!!!! my holo went silent, and i busted my @ss to get to where i am, and now all of that was for nothing!?!?!?!!? i worked hard to get the character i wanted, then had to give that up for "MY PATH" and did a whole bunch of crap i didn't want to do, so i could be a jedi, and NOW THIS!?!?!?! **edit**, **edit**, **edit**!!!! I have had the most boring 3 months of my game playing life just so i could have the pleasure of being a jedi, now you are telling me i could have just had fun playing and blowing stuff up the past 3 months instead of having to master CH after the REALLY crappy nerf, then Master Architect before i knew about macros, then master image designer, and master dancer. none of this crap was fun. i better get jedi quick after all of this bull $hit. When is this supposed to take place anyway???? the day before i was supposed to unlock my force sensitive slot with the old system!?!?! well devs, you did a good job, JUST 3 FRIGGIN MONTHS TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I feel like an old timer when I tell a noob about the good ol' days of SWG, and I feel like a sissy when a tear comes to my eye when I reminice of days of old. PLEASE BRING BACK THE FUN SWG!!

For the DEV's

I think that the holo system is just fine like it is.. Becoming a Jedi should be a reward, not some quest that everyone and there mother can do. I understand that you will make this quest "hard" however you will see an entire guild group running through the quest and completing it. Unless you plan to make it the first 500 players to complete the quest can unlock the FSslot, and go back to the Holo system after that quota is filled, than it will make the game not worth playing. If this is how you will make it for everyone to be jedi, it will ruin the game. There will be way too many jediplayers.. If it takes 20 people to kill a jedi player character.. Imagine a whole group of jedis running around destroying everything.. That would be stupid, and it would make the game more like Everquest.. (shutter) I congraduate the people who opened there FSslots, because they worked hard to do, and didn't have to rely on some quest to be released to make it easy for them.. I am working on my second holo, and it frusterates me to see that work go down the tubes.. If you decide to revamp the system in a quest, then what do the people who grinded the holos get for the hours of grinding..Do they get bonuses to the quest, for example: You only have to complete the final part of the quest to open your FS slot if you have finished 4 holos? People who havent done holos have to start from the beginning.. This is like being spoonfed, when it would be easier to feed yourself. If people are quiting because theydont wanna take the time to open there FS slot, well good..Those people are lazy and shouldn't be handed everything to them. I dont want people like that playing..Please Please do not revamp this, or if you do, make it the first 500, or 1000 players per server to complete the quest open the FS slot.. You already decided to take away permadeath.. What do Jedis have to fear in the game. Ohhhh nooo.. I got killed.. Oh well, I will wait a few days and my skills will be right back where they used to be.

You all said in the very beginning Jedi will be limited in the game, because of the timeline of the story..
Do not make this easier. I really enjoy playing this game, and i wouldn't want the fun of this game to be destroyed by lots and lots of Jedi..

Ok been here for over a year now, and one think that I really needs to be done...I really think the Dev team needs to focus on this too...is hire more Dev staff that work on design and program. Because to me it keeps coming accross that the staff is way over worked and always falling behind. I can't find any other answer to why thinks keep repeat them self. Bugs repeating. Bugs making piblic that shouldn't. Devs keep asking the same question --- we answer 15 times. The Dev team needs to hire more people. (period)

Comeon Devs you have to be able to tell by reading these boards that we're still not happy with your proformance.

TheDev team needs to get more done at a faster rate or we're not happy...

Comeon we want it done now! lol

**Then you suggest they keep holo-grinding in the game, and let it continue to destroy any sort of community we once had? Wow, that's brilliant**

And what, you think a server full of Jedi who now have to not worry about perma death with fix anything?

All you will have is MORE power gamer D3VVDz who will now be jedi because all they have to do is round up a few of their friends and complete some missions.

Woo f**king hoo.

Holo grinding sucked, I fully agree but nobody forces anybody to do it.

And what the heII happens to those of use who have been busting our assets to do it the old way and have been wasting our time.

With all of the problems that the game has, what in the heII made them jump on this?

And the non perma death thing is just as stupid because as was said, now jedi have nothing to fear.

You will see more and more in town playing with their lightsaber and not caring.

This is the single stupidest tripe that the DEV team has thrown out here yet.

Anyone who has Jedi at the moment, most probably never deserved it anyway. I really dont see whats to deserve by stood in cantinas, creature spawnswith AFK macros going when you aint even playing the game. The current system sucks, and this new quest system sounds perfect to me. YOU have actually play the game and earn the title.

Continuity schmuity!! It has its place, sure, but the fun-factor of the game (as well as the fact that Jedi are to Star Wars what elves and trolls are to Tolkien world) as well as the interest of the players should be a more important factor.

And now we see it is.

Bring on the better-system for unlocking the slot, and bravo for making the slot more fun!!!

Wow, what a split on whether this is good and or bad. I would also like to add something but I feel I must pre state a few facts.

I've been playing since I could afford to upgrade my computer sufficiently enough to handle the game, which was nearly 4 month ago, from word go I began to grind away for my FSS, wanting so badly to get that Jedi. I knew the grind, I understood the risks once I arrived and was a willing, not always happy, but often a pleased participant to continue trying to reach my goal. I read the thread's, although this will be my first (and last) post, the poor reviews, heard what seemed sometimes to be the millions of people crying about how much of a grind it was to get FSS opened and still every time I mastered a new profession I held my breath thinking this may be the one only to be yet again torn down by yet another denial, I sat back and smiled after a few moments of reflection and got right into plotting my next prof, not once complaining. This was the path I had chosen.

I even preached the word of SWG to friends, family and co-workers. I guilded and role played, finished story arch’s and completed useless NPC missions, I've badged and branded myself, all in hope to make the community, the game I play stronger even in the slightest sense by my presence.

Now I wish I could be as well spoken as some (certainly not all :-) on these boards. Unfortunately I'm just 1 Canadian girl, who no one will probably listen to anyways, that cannot begin to convey the utter astonishment at this days public announcement regarding Jedi Prof and how you get there. I sincerely don't want this to come off as a complaint; I've never done so and do not wish to begin. For those who are pleased with today’s events I am sincerely happy for you, especially if you held off claiming your rights to a FSS since you had the foresight enough to see this may occur, you certainly had the one up on me.

SOE, Dev’s and TPTB's, you have shown myself, many players, my guild members, my friends and anyone else out there I could mention, such an unreal abrasive amount of disrespect, for putting priority to changing the Jedi so drastically before fixing (adding) those prof's out there that really need (deserve) this attention. For outwardly demoralizing those who work so extremely hard with such dedication to open the FSS and for writing a truly purposefully vague public announcement as to the future of a profession some strive for with such loyalty, in a dished attempt to recover some sort of popularity to produce new retail unit sales and fresh sign up fee's, all derived from off hand poor reviews on meaningless websites and all the while leaving those who have been loyal to you, your paying customers.

A.K.A, me.

I apologize for the long windedness (is that a word?) of this post, but i believe in sorts that it's owed to me. With all this being said, I will no longer log into the grinding world, I will no longer support this once loved pass time, I have canceled my account and with the time I have remaining (paid for) I will say goodbye to those great friends I have made in hope's we will stay in touch, those who I have pulled into the world will also leave (some 10 players) and my characters current profession will remain a pole arm slot away from un-mastered.

I cannot regain the time I have wasted away on this game but I can make certain no more is and again to those for whom this is a positive and rejoiceful time I wish you all the luck, I only hope you can understand my (our) point of view.

Sincerely,

Anna

Hang on a minute...this is for when you have already opened your force slot? ...so the boring grind remains? ...is this just content for actually becoming a JEDI.
