Thread: Publish 8.2 Feedback: Death Watch Bunker
I really don't like this dungeon.
He is really too hard (impossible ?) to finish.
Honestly, I expected it to be tough and it was. The lag was an issue on the surface but deeper in it became alot cleaner. The SBD's should be halved in terms of numbers or lower the respawn rate by twice what it is for them. Even with a decent mix of damage in our group of 8, the respawn rate was too much at times, and oftenmade things impossible regardless of a group size. This was a fully buffed full comp suited team of dungeon crackers. The battle droids are difficult but do-able and should maybe have a higher spawn rate to compensate should the SBD spawn rate be lowered. As for the obtaining the access key from one NPC. If I wanted to, I could literally camp it every day with a decent sized group and build a monopoly on selling the key's. A switch of lettingany NPC in that room thatcould drop it, with additional loot % roll would make it abit easier for others not as powerful, to have a chance of gaining access.
I love the fact that you need Boba to get it. I never did Jabba's palace, as it is part of my role-playing not to do so, but others certainly have, which in turn stimulates differentgroupings.
Nicely done dungeon, even though you took out the razor knuckler, which all tkm's will never forgive you for.
i hate super battle droids...when i was playing yesterday with a fairly organized group...ungrouped newbies would come running through with like 3 super battledroids on there tail...they would die and our group would be left with 3 supers...we could handle it but it made progressing hard...this was the first day so i'm sure this will work itself out...i just hate super battle droids....

So ... I haven't gotten to check out the bunker yet, but I'm looking forward to it from all the griping going on.
There plenty of content in game that alot of people will never get to - Jedi characters,an actual earned speeder in the Corvette, RIS armor, and now Mandalorian armor.
It's supposed to be that way. I'm a casual player, and I don't expect that the entire game should be able to be solo'd.
Mandalorian armor is supposed to be rare. *Really* rare.
It sounds like the mechanism is in place to keep it that way, and honestly I'm happy about that. Means I've got something way up there to aspire to, even if I don't ever actually get it. And there's plenty of other stuff to do in the meantime, with more on the way.
If mass mobs of people are dying in droves in the Bunker, then it sounds like it's working as intended to me.

I have to add, I really expect this same resonse when JTL comes out. Yes it will add some great graphics, the chance to fly and shoot people, but what else will it give us? I actually expect to see a SBD in space. I will be flying around a meteor field turn a corner and WHAM, a SBD will be there and whip out my spacecraft in one shot. OK so maybe he won't be floating or flying in space, but you know that the SBD will have a fleet of spacecraft that will destroy us. Why? Cause that seems to be the only content the DEV can think of.
I have to agree. I am looking forward to JTL but it seems that the devs can't get the simplest things right and probably going to swarm us with SBDesque enemies. Like someone said on the corvette board, it's like a PO'd Dungeon Master trying to kill the people playing. They controll the action and we die time and time again. And it clearly doesn't look like this will stop.
Ok I doubt you actually read these things an if you do probably not this far down but I'll give you my first impressions anyway.
I have taken three trips to the DW Bunker so far. I've made it to the second locked room an that's about it. It took hours to accomplish this because of the mobs. I will say that if your intention was to require 40+ people to make progress in this place at a decent rate of speed you accomplished your goal. There is simply no way to finish this dungeon before someone's buff's run out unless you have a small army with you. The Mob's HAM an armor ratings are just that crazy. But if that was your intention to make a Guild raid type POI then you have dont that. Good job. But if you want an average 20 man group to be able to handle this place you need to remove or weaken some of the SBD's as well as slow the respawn rate a bit. Not complaining about the difficulty im just saying this place takes ALOT of people to get anywhere. Perhaps more people than it was designed to hold at one time?(Judging by the key spawn areas)
Now on to the next part or my review. Is it fun an rewarding to the player? Well players in general want to accomplish something or get something in return for thier time an effort. The Bunker as it currently exists is NOT rewarding to the player who goes there an does'nt make it all the way through. The drop rate on the mobs are simply too low at the moment. Tons upon tons of Droids an Death Watch died during the time I was there an I dont believe anyone found a single DE-10 piece. The only thing I myself looted was a Datapad with two paragraphs of text. Basically a "Slap you in the face for wasting your time" reward. I beg you to add more worthwhile loot to this place an up the drop rate by alot so that even if a player burns an entire million dollar set of composite up working thier way through 3 rooms they at least get something in return. Because otherwise people will stop coming to the place an it will be a pointless addition like many of the Cities an POI's that already exist in the game. Fun does'nt just come from the experience. It comes from "getting" something. The little powergamer in all of us.
Upon further reflection, I have a couple other thoughts I'd like to add:
- Given the number of people required to make any progress, the drop rate for items is abysmally low and leaves many players feeling cheated, and that they've wasted their time.
- Another side affect of the large number of players needed to progress is that the shear number of PC's acting at once causes many users to crash, and makes progressing impossible, since they can't get enough people to get anywhere without crashing.
- The bunker is prone to an obscene amount of framerate lag, presumabley due to the fact that it has to load so many NPC's at once compared with most other dungeons.
