Leana you are correct about the TEF, but that doesn't mean PvP is inevitable. I have been scanned by STs and made overt many times as a rebel and no player engaged me in combat because I didn't give them time to. ... In addition, I have run rebel missions many times and gotten a TEF and not once have I been attacked by an imperial player while TEF'd. I have engaged in ST mowing (in Kor Vella) several times and, of course had a TEF. Only once in Kor Vella while TEF'd did I encounter an imperial player and he was the unfortunate victim of a rebel CM. I am careful, clever, and cautious.

If I understand your statements, I can rob a bank but if no one knows, I am not a criminal. Just because no one attacked you (being careful, clever, and cautions) does not mean they can not.

Running away from combat, avoiding combat, thinking ahead to not be placed in position to be attacked, and just plain luck does not mean you were not in PvP. You are in a position to be attacked and as far as I know, that means you are in PvP.

Why does the second slot always have to be tied to jedi?

There are a whole lot of people who want a second slot but want nothing at all to do with jedi or the force.

TH- Thanks a million for responding..Do we have to UNLOCK Force on our main and then level him to Knight to get our second slot..or will everyone be low level force sensative and do quest to get to knight and then unlock our second slot? Just statements from last week made it seem like we would be force sensative and choose to quest to knight and get the slot...not it sounds like we have to quest for Force Sensative and then quest all the way to knight... Thanks

Leana,

Three things:

One, I resent your analogy. My behavior is smart not criminal. If you want to flame someone, just come out and do it and people will realize what you are doing.

Two, you want to define the entirety of SWG into PvP (99%) and other stuff that is boring and no one cares about.

Three, you seem to need to be right. So, I will concede this to you. Within the framework of your understanding, you must be right.

You guys, it's not as complicated as you're making it out to be.

Based on what TH said, if you have a Jedi character, and that Jedi character has successfully completed 8 boxes, with the new system you will automatically get to fill 8 boxes (of your choice). This is a really good thing for you... Think about it... If you were 2-2-2-2 you can now go to 4-4-0-0. Since the top two boxes in a skill tree take more XP than the ones beneath it, you just made out with a couple hundred thousand extra xp.

So, to summarize, and I'll type real slow... You will not get any XP back when the new system comes into being. Instead, you will get to choose to fill the same number of boxes that you had successfully filled under the "old" Jedi system.

TH -

  1. Does this new 2nd slot only become available once some mysterious program is complete, or is it available straight away to use in hopes of completing that system. (Note: I'm not asking ANYTHING about the unlocksystem... I'm only asking if the 2nd slot can be used attemp the "unlock" of basic force sensitivity).
  2. If the 2nd slot is 'unlocked', is it at least unlocked in the earliest system (which by assumption is the one that grants basic force sensitivity)?

    • The concern here is that if it is only unlocked for knights (as one of your last comment states) … some players (current Jedi) will have had an alt to bankroll their Jedi (pearls etc) to that pointwhile new Jedi will not. In any case, can you at least confirm that this 2nd slot is available before a potential Jedi is required to start altering their main characters significantly? (Otherwise…what's the point?!)

The way I understood it (and maybe I'm wrong here), is that every character is going to be FS from the get-go. All characters already in existence will be FS, and all new characters created will be FS. You can choose to "explore" your force sensitivity through a series of quests and eventually gain a sufficient amount of "control" over the force that you can work into the Jedi profession. Those that don't want to "use the force" on their primary or alt characters will not have to -- they will still be slightly FS, but if they don't want to us it, so be it.

As for the second slot, piecing together a few different posts from TH in a couple different locations, it sounds like you will be able to unlock your second character once you reach Jedi Knight (whether it happens automatically at that point or if there's still something you have to do once you reach that level is unclear -- but reaching Jedi Knight seems to be the common denominator).

Then again, maybe I'm speaking out my wazoo right now and have no idea what I'm talking about. This is just my interpretation of it.

I would like to say gj to TH foropening the lines of communicationover the last couple days. There was (understandably) a lot of frustration and anger on these boards when the jedi revamping system was basically just announced with no details at all. I think we all understood the need for secrecy with certain aspects, but not hearing anything at all (particularly in reference to some real genuine concerns that Jedi and non-Jedi alike had) was wearing thin for most.

While that is fine, will you please tell us Does everyone get a second slot?

Yes, anyone who puts in the effort gets the second slot.

Thats slightly confusing. As previously stated it sounds like you get 2 charaters per server right from the get go after the new system is in place and now you make it sound like another unlocking slot system instead of building off the current character. Could you please clarify this answer?

Also lets say for symplicity sake its a 5 leg quest, say i'm on my silent holo before the publish goes live. Would i then be at the 5th leg of the quest or will the retrobution be someother form? i only ask because i have a friend who is going to leave the game and may come back after this publish but he isn't sure and i'd like to have as much information for him as possible.

That's a good question... I can think of only one reason why they would make you get pretty far up the Jedi tree and sacrifice some skills before you unlock your second character -- As you indicated at the end of your post, some people aren't going to want to become a Jedi if it means they can't use an alt to support themselves. That's one way to implement Jedi population control.

That was the theory with the current system and that didn't pan out. People will give up the skills, unlock the second slot, then rebuild the character. At least with the new system they won't have to guess at a bunch of professions until they unlock it.

Why is everyone assuming that it will be necessary to bankroll your jedi with a second character. Everything they have said tells us that Jedi will now have 250SP to use, just like anyone else. Once you have access to the jedi tree, you can have your apprentice jedi skill box and still be a Master TKA to make money running missions (or Artisan, or WS, or anything). As you move farther up the Jedi tree, you are going to have less SP to use in other professions...hence the reason for unlocking a second character slot at Jedi Knight.

First, let me say that I'm assuming (and hoping) that they require a character to use all 250 SP to reach Jedi Master. Hence, once you are a Jedi Knight, you will (likely) not have enough SP to Master an elite profession and therefore, not be able to bankroll your character without a second character slot....

if you are following the logic, since you are unable to Master an elite profession and fund your jedi alone, they are at this point allowing people a second character slot to take over this role, continuing the bankroll with the second character while continuing the jedi run.

The purpose of the second character slot isn't to allow for the Devs to give everyone a character, it is to help make Jedi viable to play in a credit driven economy and Jedi are extremely limited in their ways to raise funds. Jedi have no resources or products to sell. If they do missions off the terminals, they are hunted down immediately by BH's when they pull out their saber or use any skills. This seems to be the ony reason for allowing Jedi Knights a second character...while this may not seem fair to people who are not pursuing the Jedi quest well...

what is stopping you from driving yourself up to JK, unlocking the second character, starting it up, then dropping your force skills (if possible) and using both as non FS characters (one of the potential glitches if jedi skills can be dropped)?
