Heres a good question. Will wookiees be able to wear the new Jedi Robes??? My primary character is a wookiee, ifI do the first quests and unlock with him will he be able to wear the robes and be a useful jedi?

I was looking forward to have a second character, like a human or Zabrack that could wear robes and add a bit of roleplaying. If I unlock can I play a human jedi padawan right off? Or do I have to grind the second robe able-to-wearcharacter back up to tkm/smuggler so I can re do the first stupid quests?? If so, I should get a third slot

Well this publish looks great but there are some skeptical questions.

1. Since a few more people will be able to do these quests and lets say many more do. Crystals and Pearls are becoming excessivly expensive. Only the most rich players can really whip out a amazing to no end lightsaber which kinda makes the game one-sided. Are you guys at SWg going to make crystal drops much higher. If so will you jus tmake it as lott or create like new spawning crystal caverns or caves.

I cannot believe some of you are whinning about this new system (before you've even experienced the whole thing). You get quest oriented advancement. You get advancement based on PvP. You get a cool ranking system and a social setting where you can interact with members of the Jedi Order. BHs would kill for this kind of profession content.

Would you rather have it the way it was? Killing kitty cats on Endor, semi-AFK for a slow and boring XP grind? The new system sounds challenging and rewarding. Don't judge it until you have seen the whole thing working.

In my eyes the only thing left to address if saber damage type.

We are whining about it cause there will be TOO MANY JEDI. It has nothing to do with Jedi advancement. Some of us don't want Jedi running around moreso than they already are. For some, its gamebreaking. I'm one of them.

QUOTE: We realize that this may lead to lots of characters with varying amounts of Force abilities wielding lightsabers. We're sensitive to the continuity, but we're also trying to make a fun game in which many of you can fulfill your destiny and become lightsaber-wielding Jedi.

TRANSLATION: We realize that this will lead to tons of characters running around being Jedi, and creating a more "leet" environment than already exists. We're not sensitive to the continuity, and for those of you who were hoping to have a Star Wars game that would make sense given this time period, you must realize that money is more important to us. Thank you, and we hope you enjoy your time with SOE.

It's a game, not a recreation of the Star Wars movies. If there are more Jedi alive in this fictional timeline versus the "authentic" fictional timeline, then so be it. We all play this game for the same reason ultimately, to have fun.Dont you thinkit's fair to assume thatjust about everyone (I'll wager at least 95-98%) of the population is at least intriguied by the possiblity of playing a Jedi.Sowouldnt it make sense thatevery player should have an equal chance to play as a Jedi? It's only fair, right?. I personally would enjoy a game that is more "fun" then a game that attempts to mimic the exact storyline told in the movies.

Now lets go with your theory of there being "too many Jedi" in the universe. If every single player on a Galaxy had a Jedi character, that would amount to what? 1500-2500 Jedi characters, as a rough estimate. That seems phenominal, right? What if you compare that number to a single populated planet in the Star Wars Universe? Say Courescant*sp?* which has .... billions if not trillions of inhabitaints. And that is just looking at one single planet. Granted these characters are all clustered between a small spread of planets,so it gives the image of a saturation of Jedi Players.

So Jedi are still forced PvP, from the moment they pick up a lightsaber.

My last bit of info today...

On the slot thing:

1. You do a quest (no skill changing involved at all!) you can unlock force sensitivity AND a new character slot. Skill changing WILL NOT be required.

2. You can choose to Proceed with Force Sensitivity progression by unlocking 24 blocks of associated Force Sensitive skills on your CURRENT character to attain Padawan via the padawan trials.

Please clarify "no skill changing involved at all".

Does this mean that the 24 blocks of "associated Force Sensitive skills" do not require skill points? I really hope that is the case. Doing so will give all current players new room to grow. I love the idea since I like to be a mastter of mundane professions, but get burned out when there is no room left for advancement. Imagine a BH that has a Jedi mind trick, ahhh the possibilites. It will be nice if these skills focus more on roleplaying than direct combat too.

I fullying understand that becoming a padawan, getting to weild a Light Saber and use jedi level focus powers will require skill points just like any other profession, I just hope getting there does not.

Yeah, I didnt bother to read the 9+ pages of this, so excuse me if this has already been covered.

What the hell is this crap?!?

How can you say that you are sensitive to continuity in this article without bursting out in laughter? Because thats what I did when I read your comment on continuity after noticing players will be able to unlock two Jedi characters PER ACCOUNT.

It seems like your going a long way towards making Jedi more fun. Good job, your spending a substantial amount of development time on a single profession, played by a small percentage of the playerbase, and your managing to completely destroy any semblance that this game follows the Star Wars timeline in the same stroke.

As if thats not enough, your going to TOTALLY screw over anyone who wants nothing to do with this "Force Sensitivity" rubbish. What if I dont want to play the game as a Jedi-Ranger crossbreed? How am I suppost to compete with someone who has the skill "Force Harvest +50"? How is an Armoursmith who doesnt want to bother with force sensitivity suppost to compete with some grinding **edit** with "Force Resist Application +35"?

You Devs need to get it into your skulls that this is a Star Wars MMO, not a Jedi Wars MMO. Spend some of that supposedly valuable time of your on improving the professions that the MAJORITY of the playerbase use, and stop trying to turn this game into Jedi Academy Online.

"Crystals will also provide much nicer stats depending on the level of NPC they come from."

Thunderheart, why do the devs want Jedi to loot crystals? The popular idea among the players is harvesting for Lightside, crafting for Darkside. I'm sure you've heard this mentioned. The devs can't logically ignore that amount of feedback without a reason. What is it? If we know why you want looting, maybe we can suggest an alternative that will make us both happy. Quests, dungeons, special components, anything really, to take looting out of crystal aquisition. It's not the difficulty that bothers us. Its the looting. Some other option must exist that will satisfy you and include harvesting and crafting. From a roleplayer's standpoint, this is a really important issue.

I understand this is a game Arayden. This IS, however, set in the Star Wars time period where Jedi are rare, possibly non-existant. That may not mean much to you, but to me, it does. It is my opinion - end of line.

Do you think its fun to have tons of Jedi running around? How much fun is it if half of the population is running around being Jedi? So, out of 30+ classes you can be, more than 25% would be one class - Jedi. That is disgustingly disproportionate, don't you think? How can you argue any other way? I realize that my numbers are only estimates, but they are conservative estimates.

And by your numbers of 95-98%, that makes this game Jedi Wars. Why would you want that, everyone being the same thing? I just don't understand you or your logic. I'd love to see your side of things, but it just doesn't make sense in a MMORPG world to me. Out of 30+ classes, one would be disproportionately higher than the others. And by a large percentage.

1500-2500 Jedi per server, huh? How many people do you think are on a server at a given time? About three thousand, give or take a few hundred. You don't think that would be a bit overwhelming? What math class did you come from?

Too many Jedi conflicts with part of the reason I play this game, to be part of the Star Wars Universe. cannot be part of the Star Wars universe during this time period if there are tons of Jedi being uber running around. The Devs are going to screw this one up too - they have little concept for how things actually work. (See Player Cities being filled on first day if you want a reference) All in all, just because YOU don't care if tons of Jedi running around, doesn't mean I shouldn't care. I do care, and that would guarantee me not playing this game anymore. I'm paid thru August, so we shall see if I renew.

Why, oh why, can't people just go play Jedi Academy if they want to be Jedi? Why doesn't SOE and the Devs see this? Because, they are too busy seeing $$$.

It would be nice if some things weren't ruled by the almighty dollar.

I think this is a very masterful looking publish, I am very happy with the detail and focus put into it and I hope that they can implement this soon and with minimal issue. Finally the Force is coming to SWG the way it is in the books and literature, whats more the GCW is getting some needed purpose with the rules on Dark and Light Jedi. BTW there are plenty of Docs that will buff Overts, I do it all the time, I dont see the whine there, in fact I applaud the Devs for putting this in. Please Devs do not bow to the whiners, this is a good plan, and possibly the best Publish SWG has seen. I am impressed with the detailed communication with the players, this is the most detailed plan you have ever given us, and I begin to once again have high hopes for the future of this game.

Please stick to this plan, please do not bow down and compromise on these publishes.

I am doing a mini-Publish of my own.
Publish 9.3: The Games on my Hard Drive Revamp.

Pending SWG Account Cancellations: July 22nd and July 30th.

wow - talk about disappointing. the whole idea of PvPing with a bunch of 12 year olds to get my jedi levels past knight is just... *shudder*

or how about this? lets talk politics on the light side? GREAT IDEA!! if the game wasn't clique-ish enough, now i can get all the 12 year old l33t lightside jedi to tell me when i can advance!! sign me up!!! holy crap!

the best part tho still has to be the mass murder on both sides to prove how tough you are. i think that it's very ironic that asa lightside jedi i can slaughter dozens of weaker dark jedi to advance down my serene and peaceful path. weeeeeee.

Thanks, I thought I was going to have to say it myself. Ok, so up until now, the perception has been that, at this point in the time line, the Jedi have been wiped out. That the progeny of Anakin are the only hope of saving the galaxy. While the later we can presume to remain true, the former has come under revision. Let us assume for a minute that LucasFilm may be so bold as to allow a 'mere game' (spoken with grotesque sarcasm) to be given the power to remold the story around itself.

Are we so obtuse that the possibility of Jedi, and perhaps even a full Jedi War coexisting at the time of the Galactic Civil War will cause us to cry heresy? I myself, at first, found it difficult to reconcile the tail as it has been told this far and this adaptation. If there were Jedi still living in these times, surely they would not stand by while the Empire spread like a virus. Would they not rise up? Join the rebellion and seek to topple this corrupting plague? But look to Yoda, look to Obi-wan. They were not fighting on the battlefields. They were in hiding. They had learned that trying to take the Empire head on was futile. So they waited, they had faith their salvation would come.

We need only open our eyes to the option of a new side to the story.

Now to bring in this hidden Jedi Council. Much like Yoda and Old Ben, they too have kept to the shadows. Perhaps they too believe that is it not them that will turn the tide of this conflict. But that's not to say they are doing nothing. This Jedi Council has it's own mandate. They work to prevent the spread of other dark forces.

The Dark Council could be even more easily explained. Since the start of the Clone Wars, enough chaos has ensued that the lords of the sith would not find it too difficult to grow in number while going unseen. And unseen they must stay. Sith are not known for sharing power, the very existence of these Dark Jedi would be seen as a threat by the Emperor.

I'm not saying this is truth. Only an offering of how a new facet can be added without the whole fabric coming unraveled.
