I'm usually a roll with the changes kind of guy, but count me in the bitterly dissapointed group. I too purchased a high quality set of compsite and was just waiting for the patch to try out the whole PvP thing. I own another set of armor and believe me, it decays fast enough without death decay. My armor costs 900 to reinsure, after slicing I spent 600K+ on my armor, and took me a week to find a quality armorsmith that had just restocked.I'm supposed to be happy that I don't have to pay 900 credits when I die!

I love this game, but i'm as angry as i've been.

The more I think about it, the idea of having an out of game "union" to these game makers to resolve these issues for alot of these games might be more worth our efforts. It might be a mark in history to see these (...uhh, what's the words I'm searching for...) in-game discrepancies arbitrated in court, since we are in essense share-holders to the game experience.

Does such an orginization already exist? I'm sure there is, there is alot of time and money invested from individual players. I'm just thinking that correspondants are a way of pacifying customer frustration from leading to such a group.

So you have to ask yourself, would this be going to far for coming up with an organization to make the game makers to fix bugs that continue the product as quality "Beta" and still charging the customers?

Well, let's see how long my post stays up, it's exactly what the "gaming business" doesn't want see to happen.

This disappoints me to no end. On Bloodfin, PvP has been severely hampered by item decay. Given that the endgame is supposed to be the GCW, this problem undermines core content of the game and resolving this issue should be a top priority of the development team. I think it would be better to suspend decay on death than to keep the current system. The dearth of PvP is driving players, good players, friends of mine, out of this game, and every player that leaves makes the experience that much poorer for those who remain.

How lame.

TH makes three posts that are obviously complete and utterBS and gets called on it, then magically disappears from the thread. Hopefully he just had to go home for the night and hasn't abandoned the issue.

  • PLEASE let the DEVs know that decay is the main thing that keeps large numbers of people from participating in the GCW.Releasing a patch that is supposed to bolster the Star Wars feel and encourage PvP whilecontinuing to punish players for PvP'ing is completely assanine.

  • PLEASE let the DEVs know that decay is the same thing as confiscating items from players, only it's done over time. Armor already decays with use the same as weapons, yet the argument for making weapons immune to decay was because they decay with use. How does this make sense?

  • Claiming that Armorsmiths need more "love" (credits) is like claiming Pamela Anderson needs bigger boobs. They are already making money hand over fist because of the borked system in place now that causes usage decay and death decay.

Finally, and this is the biggie:

  • 1% Insured Decay from PvP death was already removed on Test Center. It's in the patch notes. HOW IS IT TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE GAME TO DISCERN BETWEEN A PvE DEATH AND A PvP DEATH WHEN THE CHANGE HAS BEEN ON TEST CENTER FOR OVER A WEEK?

TH, this is obviously a big issue to many players. This thread grew to 10+ pages in less than an hour after your initial post. Many players got their hopes up based on the words of yourself and the patch notes on Test Center. Many people also believe, due to recent changes to the impact of the Imperial Crackdown on Imperial players, that you and the DEV team are actually listening to and responding to player concerns. The promise of more open communication between the player base and the DEV team for the new year looked like it was actually coming true....for about one hour. Then you dropped this bomb on us and avoided many of the main questions in this thread with vague answers and a hollow apology.

The DEVs made a mistake in the design of the Crackdown and were willing and able to change it due to player feedback. This change is already on Test, but now it's technically impossible? Why? Why aren't the DEVs willing to budge on this?

Go in there and give 'em hell TH. Otherwise, you keep this up and TH will no longer stand for Thunderheart.

It will stand for Talking Head.

Regards,

sigh* I have played this game since Launch, and Never have I felt the urge to post on these forums until today. I personally could care less about decay. I can make enough money to insure, but I dont, im not gonna waste a good set of armor on a raid. I think the PVP is dying becasue only the strong players will get involved in PVP, and they are the ones that can afford the decay anyway. If we want players to get involved in PVP how about we fix the fact that the PVP is so unbalanced, a freaking commando with pistloleer skills and Medic skills walked in to AH and took out 5 rebels by himself (yes he was buffed). The problem is that this one guy kills 5 of us with 5 shots. (see concentrated cone of fire) doing 1500-1800 damage with one shot. After we struggle with this guy and our master combat Medic posions him and i use eye shot on him for a few times we take him down. We took down ONE GUY, 5 of us after he killed us all 2x. I mean do we all have to be Macro experts to fight PVP, if so im playing the wrong game. I thought RPG's rewarded you based on XP, I am a 2-3-3-4 Bounty Hunter and I get owned everyday in PVP. The damage in PVP needs to be reduced to 1/10th so that its fun and last longer than a rodeo ride. I would like to know the average length of a PVP encounter, (hmmm i get KD/dizzy and boom im dead because BH gets no defense MODS). DECAY is not the problem, its balance. If hybrid professions all had a shot to win in PVP with all things being Equal ( saying that we are of equal XP and professions) and the **edit** PVP battles lasted longer than 5 seconds then mabye no one would cry about decay. I would not perosnally, but to get owned by a commando that uses half the skill points a BH does is assinine and unfair. Dont Nerf commando its a kool profession, just make it take up more of the skill tree ( see TKA/RIfleman exploiters). I know that if the Players felt like they were getting thier money and funout of PVP, then this forum would nearlly be empty. BALANCE the PVP before we put more Broken Stuff in the Game for the Love Of God.

There are people in the game who have heard about all this that are already planning on leaving the game on patch day if this is the way PvP is going to be.

Guilds arein dangerand people are making arrangements to transfer their belongings to other players.

If the patch goes as planned, THIS WILL UTTERLY DESTROY THIS GAME.

It's your move SOE. The players have spoken.

Are you even listening?

"The biggest obstacle to that is if nothing decays then Tailors and Weaponsmiths don't get repeat business...and we need to love them too."

Obviously you mean armorsmiths, since weapons don't decay on death (only usage). The biggest flaw in the decay system is that armor has double decay. Usage and insurance. I'm and armorsmith and you'd think I'd like all the business this creates when in reality there's no way to keep up with business other than to jack prices, which is why high end armor is overpriced in general IMHO.

Yeah, I couldn't agree more. Our rebalanced communication died pretty quick.

You cause this problem, and then you all go home for the day or just ignore what's going on. With each minute that passes things just get worse and you guys are doing NOTHING to rectify the situation. Any faith and trust I had in you guys to get the job done right is now gone because you did nothing to stem the tide that this thread has become. I'll be pretty **edit** close to cancelling tomorrow if we get no feedback. Your communication is pathetic, and your reputation is not far behind. And it's all of your own doing...

Thunderheart, dont take this the wrong way, but if this pvp decay stays in, then you should start looking for a new job, because the low man on the totem pole always gets the ax when the money dries up. And if enough people cancel their subscriptions, it will be your job that goes bye-bye. You seem like a nice guy and well meaning, but you need to take care of your customers, us. Your bosses are not your customers. We are. We pay your salary. And if the community is in an uproar, who do you think your bosses are going to blame? You, plain and simple. They surely are not going to blame themselves now, are they, even if they are responsible for the lousy product and constant nerfs? Take care of yourself, TH, by taking care of us. We are your customers. Hope you keep your job man....no2
