Thread: Publish 10 ... holocredit for unlockers.

Well, once the team caved in (IMNSHO) to the post 9 unlockers outcry, the floodgates were opened. Post 9's didn't hesitate hijacking the Eclipse thread for their own purpose now did they?
Too many nested blockquotes and breaks...anyway...
While SOE did seemingly give in in the face of a lot of protest over the post-9 unlocking fiasco, I in no way think it was unwarranted. Numerous posts and messages from the development and project management teams, while not promising that post-9'ers would be given a Padawan, etc., were leading enough to convince nearly everyone that post-9 unlockers would recieve a Jedi. In numerous places SOE said that the profession grind was to continue until Publish 10 and that it was to continue to be possible to unlock this way. The post-9 unlockers continued in good faith, and then were slapped in the face to realize that they wouldn't recieve what in their minds they had been "promised." Did they have a right to complain? Yes. Did SOE do the right thing? Yes.
Those reasonable post-9'ers also realize that we were told that the system was changing (however, not until publish 10 in total), so are not asking for equal treatment with pre-9'ers in many regards, and are happy starting where they are -- just prior to the Padawan trials with a FS sensitive main. Sure there is a small, but vocal, minority that's still crying foul, but as someone else put it, some people are never happy.
As for the remainder of the folks here:
Those who ground a lot of professions and did not unlock, I say kudos. You knew the system, you close to play it, and you ultimately came up short (a bit premature -- you still have a few days :-) ). I think that you should be given credit in the form of FS experience to apply toward your FS trees. However, unlocking was your goal and you did not achieve that, so it shouldn't be expected that you have equal treatment with those who did unlock. There should be a reward for completing the system, it's as simple as that. I think that SOE knows this, and will implement such a system. I'll be interested to see what they come up with.
Those that ground 4 holocrons and quit the grind. I'm not going to say your lazy or anything, but I will say that you chose not to continue working toward unlocking. Maybe you thought it was the smartest thing to do, and that you'd still get credit under the new system. You should get some credit of course, but honestly, as some others have said, your four holo professions are the easiest part of the process. We've already established that the 4+1 theory doesn't hold water (months ago, I might add), so the ideas of granting 80% FS complete for them or similar notions make no sense at all. Perhaps as credit toward the new system, these profession will have greater weight, but making each one 20% of the goal is nonsense.
Lastly, those that didn't do a thing in the profession grind. Your choice, but be reasonable: don't expect to be treated as if you did, regardless of your circumstances.

5 stars, good points... We do see a few things differently but many the same. I still don't think all players should think it's possible to get Jedi. All but one of the players I play with have decided NOT to go for Jedi. They knew what the requirements were and were not willing to "grind". They said it made the game no fun and instead spent their time being artisans, PVP'ing, experiencing the limited content in the game etc... I myself, was NOT going to do the Jedi grind until I opened my first holocron... Prior to that, I accepted the fact that I was a noob and had a LONG LONG LONG way to go to even think about becoming a Jedi. There's SO much to learn about this game like the economy, how to complete the harder dungeons, etc...
I don't have the level of compassion you do for new or casual players. They should not be able to ever get Jedi, period. Unless the point of Jedi has changed, they are supposed to be rare, reserved for 5% of the population. Yeah, it seems like "everyone" is a jedi right now but that simply isn't true. I'm guessing, based on some statistics I've seen, that each server has around 25,000 characters. I think it's probably higher than that but it's a rough estimate. If 5% of those players get Jedi, that's 1250 jedi per server. I don't even think there are that many so the illusion that "everyone" is a jedi is just that, an illusion. Removing the TEF system made it possible for us to see them much more often than before.
Again, if Sony thinks this game would be better served by making it easy to become Jedi and their bleeding hearts feel sorry for the noob who doesn't have time to play and they give them Jedi for a song, this game is done with. I think they're smarter than that... A long grind to jedi will insure long term revenue and will give those with the goal of becoming Jedi something to strive for. What's missing is the "what the hell do I do now that I've Mastered my profession, gotten all the badges, amassed 40 million credits, and have my house all decorated nice and pretty...". If they don't answer that quickly, people will quit. You see, the alternative prior to publish 10 has been to grind for your jedi... They need something else to distract the masses from the Jedi grind.
Absolutely, 100% correct.

After re-reading my post, the point about noobs and casual players never being able to get Jedi came out wrong... Noobs should have the same chance as everyone else... It's the casual players that will never make it... Nor should they. It's like the casual worker getting promoted or the casual entrepeneur making it rich or the casual doctor performing triple bi-pass surgery on your mother. Casual shouldn't cut it. They should be able to have fun but should NEVER be able to achieve the highest level of this game.
Yeah, you're right. The last post, 95% correct. *THIS* one, 100% correct. Absolutley :-)

Someone said "remember when everyone was wearing bone armor"
Those were the days, when 99% of the players talked and played together and we had no idea what a nerf was. There was a GCW and we had big battles on Tat. Grouping was the thing and good quality cdef weapons sold for 500 credits each on the bazaar!
Anyone who remembers that and is still playing should be rewarded with more than a painting.

I knew from friends that to unlock was gonna take a lot of work. Okay, well thats the way it should be I thought. What I didnt realize is that for almost 9 months now I have been trying to "grind" as much as I could in the time I had available.I have a job, I work nearly 12 hours of the day, then have to come home to take care of a wife and any homely type things that need to be done. I dont get to play that often is what it boils down to. Its not like I didnt dedicate the past 9 months or so to trying to get a jedi with the time I had to play. I worked as hard as the guy who unlocked on prof 32. Its just that the guy that could do 32 professions probably was a younger person who had a whole summer off of school to do nothing but play games all day. In all this time I have mastered 16 professions.I now see that what I thought would take forever in the holo-grinding days, has just pretty much tripled from the millions and millions of xp I need now to train boxes, to the talk of having to wait three freaking weeks to be able to do the next quest type of thing.I really dont know the point Im trying to make, I guess I just hope that some how, some way, people like me that dont have all day to play a game, gets a fair shot at unlocking too without paying every month till the year 2006.
I'm in a similar boat with my homelife, except that I'm not married, and since I cling to my bachelor homemaking skills (meaning none) homelife is less of a concern. But I do work full time (40+ hours), and I'm a full time college student (15 hours), so I have some idea of where you're coming from. I have to say, however, without sounding insulting, that if you had worked as hard as the guy who ground 32 professions you also would have ground 32 profesions. But you didn't because you didn't have time. You may have worked as hard, but for shorter periods of time, or whatnot. The point is, as with everything, to get a comperable reward, you must do comperable work. Should you have an equal shot at Jedi? Yes, absolutely. Should the system be modified to accomodate your unique circumstances? No.

So: Intro Quest, Exit Quest, and on to Padawan. You can still do the Force Sensitive quests if you desire to gain their specific rewards.
What a crap!?
We unlocked! That means we mustget second character slot. We were promised to get the second character slot if we unlock before P10. I was unfortunate to unlock just a week after P9 came live. I think it's not fair! You hear me?
Where's the dude that posted you can quit crying now? HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA
We were promised more! I want what was promised and nothing more - Padawan and second character slot.
Where's this post that says SOE isn't giving us a second character slot at Padawan? Everything I've read says we get one, and I haven't seen anything to the contrary.
That aside, I'm pretty certain you're talking about having to do the intro and exit, and then the Padawan trials. Perhaps it's a legitimate gripe on some level, though honestly, what's wrong with a little questing and role playing, even for this. The *vast* majority of what was asked for was granted after a huge fuss was raised, and you don't have to grind through the millions of XP required to plow through the FS boxes.
It looks like all the people that grinded hard to unlock pre 9 didnt have to..lol .. sucks... wonder if we can get a re-roll at least lol....my god and the guy that is crying "I was promised THIS AND THAT " DUDE WE WERE PROMISED long before you that this profession would be secret and mysterious.... so um.... go chill.... and get in line..
BS, read official posts when P9 came to live servers. Read them, please. And then blame if you feel correct. I want the P9 official post statements regarding second slot and granted padawan to pre P10 unlockers (means post P9 also) come true. NOTHING MORE. You hear me?

lol omg , now this was funny thanks for the smile man,
I want holo credit for holos used and not used between the time of Oct and Nov of last year times six-- then I want holo credit for not using all of them and having 6 still in my bank. After this I want holo credit because I didnt unlock but I thought about and now decided to claim I was trying really really hard and wanted to unlock so I can now take back all the bad things I said about JEDI in general. THEN after all of this, I only did 30 profs unlocked BUT it took 30 I want back all the time it took to do those PRE PATCH 9 and want credit IN TIME IN REAL LIFE so I want holo credit given to me in a time machine to use and my own choice and when I want to. (Time machine) lol* THEN AFTER THIS, I think I want jedi BUT dont want to do any quests I want my xp to transfer over exactly the same and I dont want it to take 6- 7 months like it took alot of other people I want it in one week. THEN (Even though I was told after patch 9 THINGS WOULD BE DIFFERERNT....(I want this changed now , in fact I want to be in the old system now-- I know you told me BUT I changed my mind I dont like it and I want you to redevelop this last patch and I want to be using the new system BUT want credit lilke the old system).. NOW ONCE THIS IS ALL DONE LET ME KNOW , because then I need to get my badges (should take me about 3 days tops Im thinking) -- I need alot of credit for those too please... due to it took me 3 whole days to get all of them. Now once I have all of this in place Ill be ready to get JEDI thanks for all your help and I need this done by tommorow please...
/end ALL in good fun guys -- and trust me it was...lol ( I wish this was thought of in beta about half of you would have gave up lol)
