Thread: “Oh my…sir, he says there are several creatures approaching
Not totaly on this subject but is any thing going to change with the new AI and wookiees I die alot as it is am I going to die more now if I try to send my pets in on some thing?
I like that you have listened to us somewhat in realized that the original proposal was ridiculous. The current proposal is much less of a decapitation of our class. I do however think that the proposed rebalancing of creatures needs to be looked at. It sounds like while we are being able to keep the ability to have multiple pets, all of our mid-low level creatures (35 and lower) are being ruined. To me this sounds like all of our datapads full of combos will become worthless and all MasterCH will be running around using one of the same three orfour highest level creatures.
I think a better "rebalancing" solution is to change the forms of attack in creature encounters so they are all not kineticly based. Give insects Acid attack, or Bolmas a Stun attack for examples. Both of which Grauls and many other creaturesare vulnerable to. The problem isn't that CL of some creatures is too low, it is that 100% of creature encounters in the game have their attacks based on Kinetic.
I think doing this would balance out the creatures by itself, make pet combos more important to pay attention to and allowing us to still use the combos we have worked so hard to aquire, as well as making it much easier on the Devs since I'm sure changing the form of attack on some forms of creatures is much easier than going thru all the creatures and tweaking their stats. My best example is that everyone uses Grauls because of their Kinetic resistance since all non-NPC encounters are kineticly based. If encounters may consist of Acid or Stun, grauls are no longer so great as they will be literally shredded (pit a graul up againsta couplehigh level NPCs weilding stun batons and he'll be dead in a heartbeat).
Although as a MasterCH I personally can live with the current proposed changes to our class itself, I think the proposed rebalancing of creatures will make it so we no longer can have any viable pet combos and so instead will all be using either a graul mauler, rancor, toxic merek battlelord, or gurreck, thereby making the appearance of all CHs using the same pets even more profound.
I think my suggestion of changing creatures form of attack is a much more realistic and purposeful solution that would be easier for the Devs to implement, that will accomplish the same goals while not destroying our current combinations.
I really hope you read this Thunderheart and pass the suggestion on for the Devs to consider and "toss around". I tried to keep it as short and simple as I could.

Im glad this is having a positive impact with everyone.Just as a general question, can you describe what about these changes you like? Not specific stuff - - more like "game play" impressions....
There are two different aspects to this question.
Firstly I think you are seeing a positive reaction because it is plain to see that the devs have seriously taken into consideration what players want. That's not to say that the devs have never done this before, just that now it can be very clearly seen. The proposed changes have been very cleverly managed. I will stop there on that subject.
Secondly, the meat ie. gameplay. It remains to be seen how this will alter the dynamics of gameplay. It is rather hard to predict at this juncture. As I am sure you are well aware, what looks good on paper may not always turn out to be so good inpractice. It is very clear thata large percentage ofpeople (if SWG forums is truly representative of the the player-base) are uneasy with the proliferation of creature pets. You have made it abundantly clear that the proposed changes are a step toward addressing that concern; and that in a nutshell is why people are happy. IF we see a reduction in pets then I think most people will consider this to be good for gameplay. However, I personally think you have someway to go yet, but at least this is a start and a step in the right direction.
Constuctive criticism: I was under the impression that SOE was trying to reduce the number of CHs and pets in the galaxy. This change seems only more benficial to the CH profession. The whole idea of 1 character and 1 pet should equal 2 characters has not been met. All this change is going to do is draw more people to the profession and we will see more pets. I am now going to consider it because it is the only way to complete missions and defeat higher level mobs. I disagree with the whole CH idea in its current conception in the SWG universe, but we all need to do what is necessary to suceed in this game as a solo player. I think CHs should train mounts and use creatures level 25 and below only . SOE has simply bowed to the wishes of the majority profession as usual. Enough ranting! Congrats CHs for another victory.

What I like is the notion that they'll reduce the reliance on pets. I see pets as a major detriment in their current form to balanced gameplay.
No it wouldn't. It would reduce the ability of people to rely on pets. To actually reduce the reliance on pets, players would have to be made to withstand a bit more damage than they currently can.
Pets are used as meat shields because most players cannot tank worth anything.
I like how it will limit the number of creatures used by non CH's & dabblers without destroying the CH class itself. The first draft of the changes would have made being a true CH pointless.
I would also like to see some kind of boost or benefit given to use CH mounts or when Vehicles are released nobody will want a mount.
I really like the idea that they are bringing new babys ingame, I just hope kimogilas make it in!
Positive impact? LOL what are you smokin TH?
How many accounts do you think you've mananaged to get cancelled with this nerfing?
I have a few questions.
I'm CH 3-3-1-1 right now. I plan on getting 4-4-1-1 . With the new system in place. Will I be able to call out my rancor thatare level 45 at 4-4-1-1? I don't care about any other pets other then my rancor. I have no skills left.
Rifleman 4-0-0-0 (Sniper Shot) T21
CH 4-4-1-1 (Level 45 pets)
-Master Medic-
CombatMedicNovice 0-0-0-0 (Just To Throw Range Stim A)
Doctor 2-0-0-0 (Poison Control)
With this in place I'm out of skill points.
Anyone?
Or two 30s and a mount.
For the other recurring question, existing CL11-15 pets will be unusable by non-CHs, and you won't even be able to transfer them (unless they were trained in transfer) to someone else.

no buddy that adds up to CL 40...my suggestion would be..STOP the dabbleing =P
I get sick of people calling it dabbling. SOE and SWG condones and promotes cross-profession mixing. If it weren't the case, ANYONE that doesn't have full master of the all the classes they have skills in are dabblers, and should stop it. Get a grip, notac.
Ch gota great deal no one will want to dabble in there mixxed up tree anymore and they will still be running around with flamethrowers using flame single 2 ..lol i hear creature handlers saying i dont want dabblers to use the top pet well your using the top commando weapon/pet ..think about it..who knows the nerf bat may be stopping u guys from dabbling soon.
NERF WARS
All this for me boils down to is that the hours I spent working to be able to use my panther have been wasted and my non-CH wife and I cannot have our pets which are our pets and hunting companions in one.
Whether it should have been allowed originally is beyond the point, the fact is that we have them now and suddenly we lose them. Its kinda like theft, some people actually like character concept and similar more seriously than just ability numbers. I can put up with losing mind shot (until I grind to master), I can deal with the dubious agro rules BUT taking mybeloved pet from me is just unfair and will considerably spoil the game for me. It won't stop the mood ruining sight of rancor petscharging about in cities to shouts of 'g' 'f' and similar. Won't stop skilled unarmed combattants being taken down by merek assasin pets. No, it will just stop my wife & me running accross the plains of Correllia with our hunting cats (she has a Wrix called Gevas, she loves that animal).
Sure, limit pets somehow in the hands of non-CH - make them break combat more or evenremove the ability to be sent into attack, limiting them to guard. Make a master CH better at using a panther to attack than I am, no-problem. Just don't take our pets from us.
