Make the NPC non-attackable and disappear and reappear at one of 200 random places. Thus making it harder to become Jedi =P

Just kidding. . . I'm glad its being changed.

The whole master X professions is really stupid to me. I don't have the pacience for grinding things i don't want for X days. So please just don't make me do that to become a jedi. I have alot agains having to fight über hard monsters to become a jedi. But what i don't have as much agains is fighting when i am a jedi, see the difference?

Ohhhkay... Having read nearly 90 percent of this thread and given the ideas supplied here a lot of thought, I have decided that it's important that I say something in regard to this thread.

Quests / Missions:

First of all, static spawned mission/quest givers? No, no, no, and NO. Why not? It leaves those seeking their FS slot very volnerable to griefers. Secondly, do you think every Jedi in the Jedi Academy back in the glory days of the Old Republic had to do every step of their training the same as every other Jedi? Heck no!! Training is tailored to each individual based on their level of force sensativity and their mastery of utilizing the force. Think about what time frame we're in here, folks... the Jedi have been all buteradicated by Vader and those who survived (Yoda, Obi-Wan are the only ones discussed in the Movies, but I am sure there had to be more) went into hiding to survive and continue to seek out Force Sensatives and secretly train them. Until Luke founds the new Jedi Academy on Yavin IV after the fall of the Emporer, there is NO place for a Jedi to be trained and it should be very difficult for a Padawan or Force Sensative to find his or her master initially.

The idea posted that the Trainers should spawn as a random event hit the nail on the head. If you've worked for FS, your character should be internally tagged as "possible force sensative" thus a bunch of random things should be happening to you - things that should not only determine your worthiness of becomming a Jedi but also determine whether you are a light sider or a dark sider. Someone mentioned the "Save the girl" dynamic spawn - the missions I'm talking about should be a lot like that. They should happen to you randomly so there's no way of anyone tracking and posting "This is exactly what you need to do to become a jedi" - again this is going back to the individuality of Jedi Training. If you're a Star Wars buff, you'll know that Qui-Gon Jinn's, Obi-Wan's, Anakin's andLuke's training were all very drastically differentbecause A.) They were different people B.) They were trained by different masters - or if they were trained bythe same master, it was during an either early, unexperienced period of his Jedi Career or his later, more seasoned Jedi Master career - C.) The time that they were trained in was radically different - Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan didn't have to hide out on some swampy planet because a Dark Lord of the Sith was looking to wipe out the last remnant of the Jedi, they had time to embrace every aspect of their training as where Luke (our current time period) had to learn as much as he couldwithout being caught or tracked down and killed!

While you're still working on FS, your Master should send you messages or in game emails (generated by the system) when its time for you to meet up with him for more guidance. Or better yet - he sends a messanger (as a test) to you and how you react or interact with that messanger (whether you talk to him and take the encoded disk your master sends to you or outright kill him) determines whether or not you're ready for more training and or another quest.

Training and how it should be due to our Current Time Frame

Okay, I've established that there aren't many Jedi during this timeperiod and that finding a JediMaster to teach and guide you should be extremely difficult. So you've looked long and hard at those wanderers and found one dressed in Jedi Robes and he's offered to guide you on the path to Jedi. Good for you! Way to go! Now he's going to tell you he's going to be in touch because if he stays in one place too long, the Emporer may find him and kill him because the Emporer, like your new master, can "See" through the force to find other Force users. Jedi during this time period have to constantly be on their toes or hide in places that the Emporer would never think of looking (Thank goodness for Tatooine!). The other thing you should have to contend with is a random chance that Vader, the Emporer's force sensative aids, or the Emporer himself sense you using the force during your training. Canthey do that? Heck yeah! And if you screw up and use the force too much they could send some dark side Force sensatives down tokill you or snatch you up and bring you to them (and try to turn you to the dark side). You should also have the opportunity - say a bluff check or a battle option - to avoid this happening to you.

Light side and Dark side points

While you're questing to become a Force Sensative everything you do, every action or inaction you decide upon should decide whether or not you're a Darksider or a Lightsider - it should have very little to do with what faction your character currently holds. During your "trial" to become a Force sensative, there should be an internal calculator on your character tabulating how many darkside and lightside points you have accumulated during your progression to Force Sensative so that once you do unlock it your Force Sensative character is already set on his path. Additionally, once you gain that force sensative slot, you should have a counter on your character that continues to track your Darkside and Lightside points so that, at any time, you could fall to the darkside or redeem yourself (through an act of heroism or self sacrifice) and change sides if you so choose.

Professions and Jedi

Okay anyone remember Luke Skywalker standing in a Cantina for days on end dancing to achieve force Sensative? Or Vader persuing Chef to become a Dark Sith Lord? Better yet, can you imagine if the Emporer had been an image designer so he could become force sensative? "Excellent, your hair looks magnificent, now strike me down with all your hairspray and hatred!" Professions should have very little to do with you becomming force sensative. Period. It should be how you behave and how you interact with your environment that determines you getting FS.

So in closing, I think that these ideas are pretty good ones and if you're wondering what I based a lot of this on, I highly suggest picking up Wizards of the Coast's tabletop Star Wars RPG guide, their Darkside source book, the Hero's guide and the Lightside source book for more information. Thanks for listening and I hope these ideas help out

Are you talking about being forced to usesomething like [email protected]or are you saying there's a problem with the in-game email system?

first... keep holos you ALWAYS HAVE 4 PROFESSIONS and 5th "silent" make it say a name

second... WHEN you get your silent holo name you must find him then..talk to this white named npc a commonor etche gives you a mission "example mission like kill this untrained wielder on dantooine or this nightsister on dath etc" (it says on missions details of you can or cant have a group)then ether you get another mission or a name this could be over 1000 names or 50 all random gettind more harder and harder and you never know 1 could be solo a jedi knight......(with a somewhat reasonable ham not 400k and not insaine damage cause umm 2k reg attack is alil stong and i was hit for 22000 (armor stoped 11000)i would say no...maybe stats like a ns protector etc...

and as for the poeple that have mastered alot... here is the reward (ive posted this elsewhere) you get more skill pts more then the 250 max...1 pts for starter 3 forelite and 5 for hybrid then bh would get 7 commando get 6 pistoleers get 3 doctors get 4....cause if then mbh can accually get medic if they want to get say snipe skill in rifle or trickshot in pistoleer

Ok, here's just a few ideas that will probably be overlooked due to my insanely late posting and disliked by most because.. well, my ideas are just like that

Ideas for unlocking FS character slot:

I really like the idea of two posts I've seen so far and perhaps merging the two together would be cool - one was that once you've been to every POI and done a fair number of quests for NPCs you unlock the slot, the other was to have a series of FS unlocking theme parks which you can only get to by doing something to unlock it -

I'd like to see that once you've visited every POI and done a fair amount NPC quests and gotten yourself a high (maybe highest?)rank for your faction, you unlock access to this series of theme parks and once you've completed these, you get the FS slot.

Idea for Jedi light side/darkside points:

Someone mentioned that every decision a player makes, be it chose to help out a dancer girl from a random spawn (should that be implemented - hope it is, top idea) or shoot a farmer for no reason, this should reflect on the player's light side/dark side standing. With random spawn events or walking down certainpaths available in Jedi quests this would be easily implemented. For the rest of PvE, simply use the exhisting faction points system. So, every time you gain/lose faction deemed to be 'lightside' (eg towns persons) you gain/lose lightside points and lose/gain dark side points. In PvP, have it set so that every time you DB someone you gain dark side points, with the possible exception of BHs that have you as their target.

Quests while a Jedi:

They should be long, they should be numerous and diverse, with different possabilities for completion - good NPC interaction is key to this - the first COA Act III mission was a great example of this! (Interaction that is).

Jedi Titles: Padawan, Apprentice, Journeyman, Knight, Master - no more, no less.

Jedi trials:

Have a cave(or make use ofexhistingcaves)that only Jedi can enter and one at a time at that (some sort of Force illusion prevents other characters from seeing the enterance). The player must get through it in one piece after being sent there by their master - whether there's some old nemesis from a previous quest that'sblue glowyand they need totalk to themor fight/not fight them (see Luke and his encounter at the cave in ESB), or some beastie they need to over come, if they make it through, they get to the next title/level.

Player co-operation:

Allow JediPCs, once they have reached Knightto take on padawans of their own (one at a time though!) - allow them to selectand assign which quests they go on and allow them to accompany them along the way should the padawan/knight wish to.

Idea for large Jedi populations:

Have a server cap on how many 'true Jedi' you can have at one time for Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters. By true Jedi I mean active jedi that go around spanking people with lightsabers and doing crazy force wielding stunts. For all those with FS/Jedi characters that aren't the lucky ones to be in the cap, have them be 'Hermit Jedi' or some such title. They can use their powers, but in a more limited capacity, carry blasters instead of sabers (some RPG classes of Jedi actually exhist where the Jedi uses a blaster, might be in some EU back history, not sure).

Ok, that's it, hope I didn't infuriate, frustrate or baffle anyone there - hope it was of some use!

Not sure about quests to become Force Sensitive, but as for quests while one is a Jedi...

There should be quests where combat isn't the only answer..nor the preferred one. I keep thinking back to Episode I, when Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon went to those talks. They ended up using their sabers, but not initially. I always try to compare Jedi Knights (and all the ranks above and below) to medieval knights.

Have missions that require planetwide and interplanetary travel, that puts the jedi in the middle of a dispute between rival parties (families, governments, factions) that could end with alot of destruction and death if not solved. If solved, the Jedi should get a decent experience reward as well as light side points (depending on which way they chose to solve it).

There should be missions for groups of jedi also. That only appear when similarly aligned jedi are in a group. Maybe the Rebellion or the Empire need a large enemy garrison destroyed, these jedi would need to find a way to do so. Just brainstorming here, but there could be many ways. They could convince the enemy to leave (somehow), force them to leave, or just kill them all off . Or they could use the local wildlife to harrass /swarm the garrison. Not sure if there's a force power that allows this currnetly, but with a group of Jedi, who knows.

There needs to be exploration missons. Simple but still useful. A jedi initiate goes missing. Your trainer/master doesn't want to risk sending another student (you), but needs to. You go investigate, find the jedi's body/journal and/or what killed him/her. Can dispatch the enemy/monster or just report what happened.

There should alwo be tiered quests. A person's main quest giver should be their trainer, but that trainer should also give occassional quests that deal with helping another Master in a predicament somewhere. They'd need to go to the planet, then sense the trainer, then do the mission(s) that trainer gives, which would be the misson that the jedi's oriiginal trainer gave.

All imporant actions/deeds of a jedi should add dark/light points.

Make the quests hard, but don't make them campable. Don't make a cave that spawns an enemy that you need to loot a rare item from... everyone will camp it like holocrons.

Rare looted items are good, but only if the enemy is moderately easy to find, like Krayts. Krayt pearl loots are perfect.

My Ideas in no particular order:

1-Try using concepts from KOTOR Jedi training and quest, those were fun! (except be careful not to have a carbon copy game, because that would be very dissapointing)

2-(I think most people envision building a lightsaber as one of the most exciting parts of the adventure for a Jedi)

Perhaps when a character is collecting pieces for the lightsaber (perhaps a fellow Jedi in training can ask you for help, like going out and getting them a certain piece in exchange for credits or a weapon or whatever else might be in the area of the wanted item.

3-Maybe when questing for piecesfor a light saber you will find a journal and a half-built lightsaber. The journal could be of an ancient Jedi who was questing for a perfect crystal for his saber and died before he could complete it. The journal could have clues to where he (or she) what thinking of travelling next, then your character could follow the trail and find clues and things to eventually find a crystal that might do something like: give changing colors to the saber, double damage chance, I dont know something

4-I have not become a Jedi personnaly so I do not know all that happens or what can happen but meeting yoda would be really tight.

5-Perhaps when a person has become a master or something close to it, he or she can get a quest to help teach a fellow SWG player who has just become force sensative or is stil young in training. That would get players to interact. The master could have the other person as like an apprentice and the master would get the missions for the young padawan from some terminal or NCP, and it would be the masters job to teach the young Jedi how to use the force to control minds or pick things up without touching them or use force lighting. The master could also help shape the young Jedi towards the light or dark sides, depending on how he trains the young padawan ex: practicing chain lighting on a tree or beast versus a person. That bring up the whole idea that the master could try and use the youngjedi (with or without the other persons knowledge) to gain power inthe jedi ranks orcounsel. The master could have the young Jedi try andget a certain artifact from a cave, orsteal it from some other Jedi, NCPor not! The possible roads to take as a master would be endless. Of course there will always be more padawans than masters so the master should be careful in his choosing of an apprentice. Maybe the master would be limited to one every month or so or just one forever. The master could have a quest to train a Jedi in the ways of the force to earn a badge or something else special. The tweeking these different missions to the dark or light sided ending would make an outcome on what happens to the Jedi.

6- A quest idea for a Jedi, dark or not, master or not, could be that a village or small town or something is being terrorized by a monster (or person, maybe a dark jedi) and it would be the players job to go and deal with the problem. Either killing the nuisance or taming it, or if it be a NCP jedi or something, the player could join the dark side of thing and destroy the town and loot it for all its worth

Lets say the player decides to be good and does the knowledgable thing and disposes of the threat without causing much damage to the town or its citizens the the player could be rewarded by the townsfolk with an ancient artifact or credits or just a welcome place to rest if the need should come, then the player could head back to the Jedi or terminal that gave the mission and be rewarded or reprimanded if done incorrectly. Maybe if the player turned dark the player would be shunned by the light side Jedi and be forced away, only to meet a shadowy figure with an offer to become even darker than ever!!!

Or the player kills everything and everyone or joins some dark force in the progress, then the player could loot the whole town or head back to a dark side secret base or something and take on his quests from there as a dark Jedi

7- this is kind of something to think about... we all know that a jedi starts out on th light side then turns dark. But after turning dark is there anyway to redeem yourself like in the storylines of other Star Wars stories, like KOTOR for instance. I would imagine it would be difficult but non-the-less it is something to be sure to have hammered out if it is not already done so.

8-Another idea is getting a mission to spy on the opposing side. The whole time while spying, collecting info, stealing stuff, etc. the player could be getting hit with chances to join the side that he or she is spying on. I am not quite sure where to take this one I just wanted to throw it out there.

9-A trial idea is to send a wanna-be Jedi through a maze of some sort. Not really a maze persay with turns and dead ends but more like just a long corridor or path through a forest. With no weapons or maybe just a survival knife and a limited supply of health packs. Along the way the Jedi would be greeted by spirits or visions (I am going for the Native American journey thru the forest trek to find yourselfidea). The couldask the Jedi quesions about life, very philsophical like, and depending on the answer (perdetermined choices I suppose) the Jedi would be given a rating or an item of little signifcance at that moment but when the edi returns the rating the player has or the different types of items would be iterpreted and determine whether or not the Jedi passed the trial or whether or not theplayer recieves a prize or something, a personalized cloak perhaps? I am imagining a trial of self discovery, one that requires a player to try things that have not been tried to combine the skills of running and walking, jumping and crawling, yes and no,rightand wrong, what is good and what is better, difficult or simple solutions. Feel freee to expand on this oneit is one of my favorite ideas and I thik it could go somewhere with the right designers behind it.

10-Maybea quest could be to help out a newbie. I mean like a person who has never played the game at all. I mention that I havent been a jedi but did I mention that I havent even played the game yet? I have to buy a video card first, so give me a month or so then I will rule the galaxy. But until then back to the idea. Like have a person go and hang out at a lace where the newbies pop out and offer to help teach them the ropes about the game. Perhaps not telling this newbie that you (being the person helping) is a jedi. Perhaps that Jedi would have an idea of what this New character playing the game needs to do to become a jedi, so then the Jedi could help lead this newbie down the path to do so. Just an I dea, I would enjoy it very much so I think it would be good as a quest or something.

11- Another way to get a Jedi player to interact with other player is to have them have a quest that requires them to interact with ALL the species of non NCPs I hope.Like maybe get a certain number of credits from players of all species, by any means nessicary besides killing and looting, like outof the goodness of their heart.Or to have a Jedi getan item of somesort that is unique to each speciesor to just something to make a Jedi have to travel around and meet people would be a good idea. Spread the love!

12- I have basically run outof good ideas for now, so I will leave with a tip that I hopewill be helpful:

Use other great games froreference.

Like: Warcraft III, GTAIII, The Elder Scrolls III-Morrowind(wow games with 3's seem to kick butt), KOTOR, Black and White, and whatever game that opened up doors to different levels of gameplay that wasnt imagined yet. This game is a good example to use it for reference, if an old idea was good and can be changed for a Jedi mission, maybe you should use it.

I hope I have thrown out so many ideas that something would have sparked and that I have helped at least a little. If I ever see something that I thought of in the game, that would be very cool!

Thanks for reading my rambling post

i would like to see the quest determined by your mastery of an elite or hybrid profession, like if your a bounty hunter then you have to do certain quests associated with Bounty Hunting that would be very hard and very time consuming....this would make it so you couldnt just start out and go on a jedi quest right away, you would have to get to the mastery level of your profession in order to do one of these quests, also this would balance out the holo craze where people are never a master weaponsmith or armorsmith for more than a few days because that haas completely messed up the economy of the game
