Firstly, crystals, by their very nature, are natural. Therefore, crafting them would completely contradict the realistic feel that you're arguing for. I would argue, rather, that crystals should be harvested, and should only be able to be harvested by jedi and perhaps a surveyor, ranger or something. It should be a skill--I think that will solve the economy issue. Secondy, about standard damage--there is such a thing as a more powerful saber. Maybe to someone being sliced apart by a beam of energy, the power might seem the same, seeing as one is going to lose a limb anyway despite a difference in "power." The difference could be seen in something that could actually resist the energy, like armor (although a saber could "slice through metal...better than a ginzu knife chops a tomato," armor isn't merely another form metal--if that were the case, then why would one bother buying different sets of armor, if they're all the same?) or another lightsaber--that's where the power difference comes into play.

no. Luke did, indeed, craft his own saber -- but he didn't craft his own crystal. There are many components that go into a saber--housing, power cells, crystals, etc--but the premise is that the energy is drawn from the crystals, they cannot be merely manufactured.

My last bit of info today...
On the slot thing:
1. You do a quest (no skill changing involved at all!) you can unlock force sensitivity AND a new character slot. Skill changing WILL NOT be required.
2. You can choose to Proceed with Force Sensitivity progression by unlocking 24 blocks of associated Force Sensitive skills on your CURRENT character to attain Padawan via the padawan trials. BUT, it is not set is stone. There have been discussions to make the acquisition of the skills to happen during the quests to unlock Force Sensitivity. If we went that way then players could be able to go directly into the Jedi Padawan quests if they wanted to.
3. -OR- you can re-do the force sensitive quests on the new character and then unlock those 24 boxes on that NEW character preserving your primary character. You will have to go through the whole series of quests again if you want to be able to advance as a Jedi with the second character.
For Current Jedi:
- Exactly which slot are we going to get our Padawan Trial points and Jedi skill points for?
- Will it be the "main" like everyone else who later completes the Force Sensitivity progression quests?
- Will it be on our current "Jedi" slot?
- What will happen to the other slot?
- What about the "perks" that are rewarded for Force Sensitivity quests? Will we get those and which slot?
This kind of matters a lot. I need to know ifmy mainwill becomemy new "Jedi",because I am in middle of BH grind for my main, it would suck to get most of the way there only to realize that I have to give it up for Jedi advancement.
I have a question concerning the number of professions that have been ground prior to these Jedi system changes:
In the revamp system, you say that the number of a professions a person has mastered will give them a "headstart" towards the Jedi Padawan path. However, I remember a large issue that came about when the badges for profession mastery were first issued--because it was reported that the system did not keep track of masteries prior to that time (unless they were holocron-generated professions).
I understand that professions mastered after that patch can easily be monitored by checking the badges, but I know several players (myself included) mastered more professions that never got badges...and may not have been holo-professions. Will those professions not count towards the "headstart?" How are the developers planning on providing bonuses to those players, or are they simply out of luck for having mastered the professions too early? Or will only the number of actual holocron-professions count (and not the extra ones mastered in the hopes that it will be "the one that unlocks.")?
And with 2 slots per account per server, I think people will be able to play both styles a lot more. You have your Jedi for when you wanna do Jedi stuf, and some other profession to do other stuf. It could work out very well indeed and I'm looking forward to seeing what's in store. Anything to stop the incessant grinding. Can't get a decent hunting party together 'cause the guy who was a Master Swordsman yesterday, is a hairdresser today.
LOL, i hope your not seriouse about BH actually controling the jedi population, LMAO, with a profession that is so broke nunas are the monsters real threat to BH, damn you nunas, damn you!!! (note:exageration)

What's to stop everyone under the sun from doing these quests and everyone being a jedi?
Bounty Hunters and giving up their current professions.
