ok thank you to every one who sent me a mail i will try to make this make sence as some of your are a bit confused hehe ok holo grinders have untill publish 10 to unlock jedi in the old holo way or they can play the quest's in publish 10. to every one who has not started holo grind can play the quest's in publish 9 and 10 to become a jedi.

also i do think the game is shifting towards the (old republic) state with jedi and sith strong on both sides of a new war! remember this game can go any wher fowards or backwards from the films. it could go to a state set in the KOTOR game area! of the star wars saga! enjoy

Great. Forced PvP If I wish to enjoy the game to its fullest. Yet another sign the devs don't give a **edit** about their playerbase. Howcould you guys ruin Star Wars of all things?

Without much clarification from SOE it seems:

1. I will be able to make my main character a Jedi if I choose

2. I will be able to play with being a Jedi in a self contained PvE enviroment until I reach Jedi Knight (no fear of TEF)

3. Once I reach Jedi Knight and continue along the path, playing a Jedi becomes more like it is today, with the constant threat of PvP and Bounty Hunters

4. I have no clue what is meant by the 2nd character after TH's "clarification"

Okay, a revamp of the Jedi system. That's good. I think pretty much everyone would agree it was needed.

So now it sounds like the Dev team is doing a 360 on the initial idea that a Jedi would be very rare in the game (although that has already proven to be somewhat untrue, it's still not like everyone's running around with lightsabers). I think that's a good idea -- it should be a lot of hard work to become a Jedi, but the work should be related to Jedi's... Not just mastering countless professions. It sounds like the new quest-based system is going to support that. That's good.

I understand that you (the Devs) need to keep most of the details surrounding this new system under wraps. I think the majority of us would like you to do that -- a little suspense is a good thing, as long as it pays off in the end.

However, as others have said on this thread, I think a couple things are important:

  • Reassure the hologrinders that all their hard work will not be lost. Your statements from before could be interpreted either way.

  • Reassure the current Jedis that all their hard work won't be for naught. A person looking at the glass as half empty could view TH's statement as saying that the current Jedi's are going to lose a lot, but at least they'll keep their second character slot.

  • The feeling I got from TH's initial post is that Jedi's-to-be will have various options when it comes to developing their Jedi character -- I got the feeling that meant that you can focus on PvP or maybe some sort of non-PvP character development (crafting of some sort) that would still lead you up the Jedi tree. But later on that seemed to be refuted and now the general concensus seems to be that you will have to participate in PvP in order to advance in Jedi. Can you clarify this?

These seem to be thethree major concerns people have. That's my feedback -- give a little reassurance that people aren't going to look back on the last 6-9 months as a complete waste of time.

As someone who stopped grinding once I reached silent in anticipation of some reward for my efforts to attain Jedi, I would be quite disappointed to find it didn't count squat. On the plus side I would still have a bunch of new content to work through to get to Jedi but should this new content simply begrinding in a different guise then I will cancel.

Also to add, for the devs, that it wasyou who created the holo grinders in the first place, it was your mistake and the onus is on you to fix that mistake without alienating your player base!

Impossible to have a jedi council at this moment... (and in the books... the new jedi council is created 25 years after RotJ
=================================================================================

Hard to say, at this point we do not know the exact time the original Jedi Council was disbanded. Plus once it was officially disbanded, does not mean groups of Jedi tried to keep the council together before it finally ceased to exist.

Leana,

Jedi right now are NOT required to engage in PvP. Everyone here seems to be confusing all combat with Player vs. PLAYER combat.

Jedi are now required to engage in combat (PvE or PvP) to advance. Most jedi are engaging in PvE to level so that when they do meet up with a MBH, they have a chance.

PvE is not PvP. Combat is not just PvP. Most of the complaints against forced PvP are against players being forced to fight players, NOT being forced to fight NPCs and creatures.

I don't like pointless grinds.
Thank you for reintroducing decay!!!
I like a complex, immersive world simulation, full of possibilities, challenges and roleplay.
I want a player driven, crafting-based economy.

What we do know is that by the time this game starts there is, according to the movies, only 1 Jedi left: Yoda.

According to EU again a handfew are left.

The Council met it's doom in the Great Jedi Purge that happened well over 10 years prior to this game taking place.

Absolutelly.

Jedi should never have been worked into this game in the first place. Big mistake.

Once again instead of fixing classes that are already broken the developers focus on the popular classes. I have been playing and watching the development of this game since last summer. WHY WONT THEY FIX SQUAD LEADER??!!!??????!! I am so sick of seeing a Creature Handler fix or a Revamp of a class that is already ridiculously powerful. Toss us a bone please, i have been looking forward to this since last summer and my class is still so weak and gives me no desire to maintain placing skill points into a hopeless venture. STOP REVAMPING crap that is already an alright class to become. This is really sad that Squad Leader has been around since the launch, and hasent been taken care of yet. Get it together. Every other class that is an elite class is strong in its own way, but squad leader is a handicap. FIX IT PLEASE!!!

I may be confused but as far as I know, a Jedi only has to turn on their lightsaber and they get a TEF that makes them attackable by anyone. I also believe that if Jedi are too active doing force things, BH can be missions to hunt them. In both cases this is PvP and the Jedi has no option to avoid it.

Just because the Jedi do not go around attacking players, the fact that they can be attacked places them right in the middle of PvP.

where forced Jedi PvP will gain you force ranking and possibly a seat on underground Light and Dark Jedi Councils
====================================================================================

Additionally, I beleive people are reading too much into this. It does not say you must engage in PvP to advance as a Jedi, it says you must engage in PvP against the other side to gain force ranking. This may very likely be some kind of method to determine your place in the fame or status of Jedi and leads to being a part of the Council.
